Cars Land coming to DHS

Quote:
The DIS has confirmed from multiple sources that Disney will officially announce this week that they are bringing Cars Land to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Lights, Motors, Action! and the Backlot Tour will be leveled to make room for an expansion of Pixar Place to include the new land. Disney opened Cars Land at Disney California Adventure back in June to rave reviews and this would be a much needed boost to DHS, which is starting to show its age.

While we don't know yet which attractions will be included with the new expansion, attractions like Radiator Springs Racers have been wildly popular and most likely would be included.

DHS needs something, but I was hoping it would be something unique. Especially since I just booked a DL trip!

If this comes to fruition my family will definitely be happy! DHS seems so sad these days and they definitely need a way to spread people out better in that park!

We rode Radiator Springs Racers when we were in DL this summer. It was awesome! The theming of Carsland was beautiful. The other attractions were fun, but RSR was by far the best Carsland had to offer.

Fantastic news!

LMA is cool, but there is too much dead time, it's too long, and there's very little incentive to see it more than once. That space could definitely be better used...

I will miss the Backlot Tour for nostalgia more than anything else, but it was definitely showing its age, and if it has to go away, this seems a worthy successor.

I was out at DCA in September, it's awesome! I wonder if they will do a Radiator Springs Racers, since it is similiar to Test Track. Plus takes up alot of space.

This is great news. We just got back from Disneyland/California Adventure in October and loved Cars Land.

Kevin Rafferty who worked on Cars Land was asked this summer at the Disneyana convention about this idea/rumor.

His answer was no way.

It also makes sense - why would Disney start cannibalizing DCA visiting guests by creating exact duplicate in FL? Cars Land and BVS were built to revitalize a broken park. CL is drawing record crowds to DCA and filling up the hotel rooms.

Secondly, the ride system, which is the same as Test Track, will be affected by heavy rain and lightening storms - which happens quite often in FL - will close the ride down.

I can't imagine Disney building this.

While there are a lot of people that go to both parks, DL and WDW. The vast majority just go to one, based on convience more than anything. The parks are far enough away that it is going to hurt DL.

WHile the ride is similar to test track, it is a very different experience and they will be at two different parks.

I still disagree with your conclusion and your reason why CL should be built in DHS.

I was not talking about ride experience, but ride system. Please re-read my post.

yes ride system is same, but people judge whether they like a ride based on experience.

Look at all the dark rides...they are the same basic ride system too.

Plus, if you haven't noticed Disney has been trending on repeating things in both parks. While yes it annoying and cheap in a way for the vast majority of people they like it since they know they can see it no matter what.

I have been to DL 3 times and it amazes me how surprised CM and other guests are that I have been to both DL and WDW.

Well get over it because it will happen. My relative works at Sci Fi diner and it is true.

Besides, why can't it be at both? The same could be said of Universal HP. Both California and Florida will have Harry Potter and no one cares or thinks they won't be successful. There is a lot of people that only visit one park, Disneyland or WDW so it will do fine.

Isn't it interesting I can give you a name, time and place of my source - yet some people have a difficulty believing it is true.

The "Dis" give only gives you "multiple sources" and still claim it is a rumor and some of you believe that Cars Land a done deal at WDW.

Rumors are rumors! I don't care who says they heard this that and the other from someone working at WDW. No offense to those who have relatives or friends working there, but rumors spread like wildfire and one word can change the whole meaning. They could have said "Cars is coming to DHS" and someone added the "Land"

But let's just wait and see what Disney says, then we will see how accurate it is. In the end, we are happy to see some expansion possibly and some freshening up.

I was hoping more for a Pixar Land myself with rides/areas/restaurants for different movies. But, I understand that the visual impact of walking into Radiator Springs is much greater.

Oh right, another unnamed source. I better believe it!

I already explain why it shouldn't be at both coasts.

I think Universal is unwise building HP out here in California. Focus more on expanding the HP franchise in FL instead, more land and opportunity there. Also, they would do much better by dusting off a few of their more popular IP and franchises and build a unique quality attractions.
