Disney Magic dry-dock 2013 - The DIS Discussion Forums

Not sure if this has been discussed here yet or not but I received some unofficial information on the Magic Drydock for 2013.

Please keep in mind that while I beleive this is from a reliable source this is in no way official information.

The Disney Magic will undergo a 'major retrofit' while in dry-dock in Cadiz, Spain. The dry-dock will take place sometime in the fall of 2013 and will last at least 6 weeks.

Let the speculation begin

The Magics 2013 dry dock has been a major topic, though a lack of rumors has caused the thread to go under the radar. However, your information states that the dry dock will be in Cadiz, Spain! This I do not believe had ever been discussed before! Most assumed she would be returning to Fincantieri.

We were told by CMs that all staterooms would be refurbished "completely" amd that Topsiders would be remodeled into something similar to Cabanas.

We also heard staterooms would get a major rehab. Also heard that the bar area would be completely gutted and redesigned so that bars would hang off a common area. In addition, major refurbs to .Parrot Cay and Animators (AP to be more like Dream/Fantasy).

Just off the Magic today

and while it is still a beautiful ship, she is showing her age in areas. We had a great time, can't wait to sail again.

This bit of news I am very disappointed in. I hated the layout of Cabanas and much prefer the cafeteria style on the older ships!

We were told it was not a secret - she will be in dry dock in Italy where she was constructed.

First time cruising on Disney Magic. I will be excited to see the changes for next time.

We heard on our 10/20 Fantasy cruise from a CM confirmation of the dry dock time. Statements included "complete stateroom overhaul" and "cutting into the hull to access and refurbish the engine". It was not specified where these would be taking place. We also discussed length of time the Magic would be out of service and were told "an expected 6 weeks".

I think they will also retrofit an Aquaduct?

we were also told that the oceaneers club was going to be ripped out. we were told this by one of the councilers.

That would be great but since the classic ships are so much smaller, they'd have to scale back on the length of the ride. Aqua-duckling?

We heard that Palo was going to be expanded so no one could walk around the outside, no more tables added just making it a little roomier.

We are sailing on the Magic November 6th out of Miami, so I am very excited to see what is going to happen!!! The last thing I had seen was that DCL would be having a press release on April 26th that addresses this. I hope they give some specifics...
