was there in August....definite thumbs up...the variety of food is not as large as say CP but the food is good, very spread out and a comfortable atmosphere as well....like CP you don't feel rushed...

my only complaint is you have to wait in the back by the entrance of the restaurant after checking in and there's nothing to see or do, ala Chez Mickey, Ohana, CP...

Tusker House breakfast is our favorite breakfast.... everything was so fresh. The juice was AMAZING and if you only have the juice, it was worth it! (I'm not even kidding, they should bottle it, sell it as slushies, replace a dole whip with it... you get the point.....it's good stuff!) We never felt rushed or felt like we had to step it up. The little parade they do w/ the kids is totally adorable. (our DD got shy at the last minute and wouldn't do it!)

We liked that there was really good variety of food and just enough "different" foods so you didn't feel like it was a cookie cutter buffet. The quiche is SO good!! there's something there for the pickiest eater.

Our favorite part, being in AK before it opens. It's so serene and peaceful. (of course, until you get to the restaurant..... ) Have fun! I think you're going to love it !!

Similar to Boma but different food choices and all are excellent. My only complaint is the noise level--which can be intense.

We are in the minority for Tusker House as we didn't care for it at all. The juice was fantastic and getting into AK before rope drop was great but that's it for the positives.

The food was fairly standard compared to other buffet character breakfasts - a couple of unique dishes. The buffet is so far from the seating area that we found hot foods were chilled by the time we got to our seat. I really appreciated the open concept of many of the other character meals after dining here.

True, noise levels are loud due to the acoustics of the building but it wasn't that bad so no real complaints there. However, the set-up was so strange - we were crammed into tables in a small room - we had to get out of our seats and walk forward two tables for every character - they couldn't even fit through the tight space. It was very much like a warren or maze of small rooms - each tightly packed. While I get that it's a rustic atmosphere - the chairs were very uncomfortable.

Disney restrooms are usually very clean and fresh. At our visit, the restrooms were damp, musty, poorly lit and very uninviting. We were the first sitting of the day, too.

The character parade was a good concept with traditional African instruments but in practice it was a disaster - not enough items for the children, children darting between tightly placed tables and it wound through several closed-in rooms so that it was hard to keep an eye on your child. They also paraded by so fast that I witnessed some children get left behind as they got tangled in a maze of tables.

Overall for us the negatives outweighed the positives. We tried Rainforest Cafe at the front of AK - while loud, it was a much better dining experience for us.

Tusker House has been a breakfast favorite of ours for years, and if at all possible we try and fit it in. Food is delicious and seems like something for all tastes, plus the character performance/interaction is some of the best we've seen and enjoyable for all ages.

Different strokes, but we always look forward to any meal there.

Have fun!!

We loved it! We went two years ago and had a varied party, from kids to age forty five. Everyone enjoyed the food and I couldn't help but be impressed with the efficiency of the CMs. Enjoy!

We have never had Boma breakfast so I can't compare it but Tusker House breakfast is really good!!!! Their juice is amazing, from what I've heard it's the same juice served at Boma, and their pastries are great!!!

Tusker House breakfast is one of the few buffets that makes me want to book (I am currently not doing buffets as my 14 year old and 12 year old don't eat even CLOSE to enough to be worth the cost, 14 year old last time ate 1 donut and 1 banana!). We do love that they have plenty of the traditional breakfast items, including Krispy Kreme donuts, but also have some more unusual items, like Beef Bobotie, for example. We did Boma a couple years ago for dinner, and liked that it also had a varied menu, but Tusker House is less crowded feeling, as the buffet "line" is in a separate room from the tables, etc.

Our Ratings of Tusker House Buffet (Breakfast // Lunch): (8/2/2012)
. . . food price value: B // B
. . . food quality: B // B
. . . food quantity per serving: A
. . . food prep speed: A // A
. . . food selection: C // B
. . . seating quantity: C // C
. . . seating comfort: C // C
. . . eatery atmosphere: C // C
. . . eatery convenience: B // B
. . . staff friendliness: B // B
. . . staff attentiveness: C // B
. . . character interaction: B

NOTE: The buffets are reasonably priced for a Disney park eatery.
Although the selection could be more varied, there are menu items
for most tastes. Although highly Americanized, the dishes do have
an African flair. Breakfast is usually very crowded (up to 1,100 people
served), and ADR's are highly recommended. There are at four-to-five
really good vegetarian options on the buffet. Character interaction is
probably the best of any character meal, as they spend an awful lot
of time with the guests. Lunch has a taste for the pickiest and most
adventurous eaters. Safari Donald is available for pictures (but, he
signs no autographs) before you enter, and Daisy-Goofy-Mickey-Minnie
circulate within. PS - Make sure you drink The Jungle Juice.

Love Tusker House & Boma. I say they are a bit similar but no so much. Both are very good & worth it to us.
