Eastern Costa Rica or England/France for 6 year old?
Hi all!
For any of you have been on either of these ABD trips (eastern costa rica or england/france), were there any kids on your trip? Did they seem to enjoy it? And in your opinion, whether or not you have kids, which one would be better for my adventurous 6 year old DS? Thanks!

I don't have kids, nor have I been to Costa Rica, and there weren't any kids on my Knights & Lights trip. So I can't really offer much on that front. I will say that the London/Paris trip is a lot of historic buildings and museums, so it would depend on what your DS liked. I could see it getting a bit trying/boring for someone that young (but you know him best). I certainly know the Adventure Guides will do their best to keep your son engaged. It's a wonderful trip, but I'm not sure it would be the best for a 6 year old.

I'm probably no help here but we did Knights & Lights adults only and we did Eastern Costa Rica on our own (going to same locations as AbD but we did a private plane for our transfers and much nicer lodging).
I can't begin to tell you how much I loathed eastern Costa Rica vs how much I loved London and Paris. However, I'm a 55 year old woman, not a 6 year old boy!!!! I think if I were 6, I would prefer Costa Rica. My husband loved loved loved Costa Rica. We have traveled all over the world, mostly on our own, and it was his favorite trip. My husband, a big kid himself, much preferred the ziplining, river rafting, hanging bridge crossing, etc over ogling art at the Louvre. We had originally looked into AbD Costa Rica but the trips that worked with our dates were loaded with kids; the phone rep said this is a very popular family tour. So I went through a Costa Rican travel agency and booked an unescorted vacation to the same locations. |

Thanks for all your input everyone! I think you're right, not sure if my 6 year old will appreciate all the history and art in France and England. Costa Rica sounds great though.

Costa Rica was our first ABD. At the time my DS was 8 and he loved it. The zipline was one of the highlights of the trip and the minimum age for that activity is 8. We just returned from Hawaii where we did a zipline tour that was very fun, but still didn't compare with the Costa Rica zipline. If this is something your son would enjoy, I would recommend waiting until he is 8. We've also done SWS and Alaska and he loved both of those trips too.
