Do you like the new matterhorn bobsleds?
I read a couple reviews that sounded like the ride is now even jerkier and the leg room is squishy for tall people. I didn't like how jerky it was before so now I am worried it's gonna hurt. Dh is 6'4 so I wonder about leg room for him. With all the time and $$ spent on that refurb, did it fall short of your expectations?

I didn't mind it at all...I was all prepared to have a sore back after the reviews I read but it really was fine...it was actually less jerky than I remembered it.

I think they made the seats with much less padding!
My bottom is not very padded and OUCH! By the end of the ride I was using my arms to lift my bottom up off of the seat! |

No. I don't even bother with the Matterhorn anymore. I get banged around so much that I'm not even noticing the effects or anything.

I thought the seats were okay, but the rough ride makes my brain feel like it is rattling around in my head. It is hard to describe, but since the refurb it just feels like a smoother rail ride, but the same jerkiness. Once a trip is enough for me.

It was fine for me in the kids. I'm 5'3' and smallish. My Dh is 6'2, and after riding it twice, said never again. Complained it hurt his back too much. Not all seats are equal. Some seats are much roomier than others. The front seat was fine for me, but I can imagine would be tiny for someone taller.

I felt that the ride was more or less the same.
The only difference I noticed was not being able to stretch my legs out. I don't remember the padding either way. I like this ride, probably one reason is because it is NOT at WDW, and it is so beautiful to look at....... but not one to ride over and over. |

I like the fact you don't feel bad about taking two seats when you're a party of two, but I was surprised that the cars seemed more squished. The back car did seem more jerky, but the first car seemed okay. I too noticed that tall people seemed to have their knees up to their chests.

I rode it a month ago for the first time, so I have nothing to compare it to. I have no desire to ever ride it again. It just plain wasn't fun. I was trying to brace myself and hold my bottom up because it literally felt like I was on the track. I mean, come on, they couldn't have added a little padding or raised the seat a couple of inches? I just couldn't wait to get off. I'm 5'3" and sat in the back. My legs were fine and didn't notice anything weird about holding on to the rails. I just hated being jarred around so much.

I hate to say it, but it went from one of our favorite rides to one we avoid.
I think everyone is our party feels it most in the butt or lower back area, just not good.

The first time we rode it with the new cars, i'll admit it was painful and made the wife and I sad. We decided to try again but this time made sure to sit up more straight and not slouch or angle ourselves in and while it was still bumpy and jerky, was not nearly as painful as before.
As for fitting in, i'm 6'3 and i was about 280 in June and I found the front cars (1 & 4) to be the best for me. The middle and back cars seemed to have less room so I just arranged to be up front. |
