I can't wait for Carsland at Hollywood Studios. It is awesome in Disneyland and will be an awesome fit for the Pixar Place area of HS at Disney World. My 4 kids and husband LOVe the Cars movies. I liked Cars also, but The Incredibles is still my favorite Pixar movie ;-)

I have been saying for years that they should bulldoze the Indy stunt show at HS and put in the Indy ride like the one in Disneyland, but I didn't even know they were actually considering it. I'm totally excited to think there might even be a slight chance! It would be awesome!

Not really sure what to think about the Avatar thing. The movie was okay, but nothing epic like Star Wars.

Where did I say they confirmed the Indy ride or bulldozing the Indy stuntshow? I said I thought they should have bulldozed the Indy stunt show a long time ago and that I was excited that there was even a rumor, outside chance, that they might bring the Indy ride to DHS.

That's my bad. I misread it.

Hmm. Interesting. We get to see CarsLand in December. And I'll get to ride the original Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Space Mountain, and Soarin'. Now, of the 4 previously mentioned rides, the only one in Florida that I haven't ridden is Soarin'. So it will be interesting to see how they all compare (as it has been 18 years since I last went to Disneyland).

Personally, I would rather see them expand DHS with a PixarLand of some sort seeing as they already have TSM there (which is part of the Pixar movie family). Sure, bring in RSR and maybe Maters Jamboree, as well as some of the food from DL's CarsLand, but don't duplicate the land for the East Coast.

Also, we just paid $1500 for 5 of us to fly from Denver to Orange County, Cali in December. It was the cheapest airfare (and even now, still was) we could find. So cost to fly East to West coast is a moot point in my opinion for you East Coasters. Besides, I see/know plenty of West Coasters who spend the time/money to fly East to Disney World every couple years. The difference is, it's a priority and desire for them to do so, and thus they figure out how to make it happen. Just sayin'.

Yeah. So have I. It's not true. We had a very large discussion about it maybe 4-6 months ago. That was just a rumor started about why the hat has yet to be removed.

Not so happy about this. I don't see Cars Land as something with "lasting magic." I said the same thing about it when it was put into motion for DisneyLand. Cars simply is not a movie that is going to have much appeal 15-20 years from now and I see this as something else that will be removed and re-done in the future.

I would have loved to have seen something done with a full theme from some of Disney's more proven long term films or like others have said, an entire PIXAR land.

I know this is not definite, but still not so great in my opinion.

Things that deserve a bigger area (not necessarily an entire land):

- Alice in Wonderland. Seriously...who would not visit Wonderland!
- Aladdin
- Nightmare Before Christmas

Even Disney's own website states that "Cars" was not a top 30 Disney movie. IMDB has it outside of the top 50 Disney movies.

Young kids may enjoy it now...but, in my opinion...no proven staying power and a bad idea.

The continued popularity of a movie doesn't necessarily have any bearing on the continued popularity of an attraction. Look at Splash Mountain, very popular ride, but how many people who ride it even know what Song of the South is, let alone have even seen it?

Putting that aside, Cars as a theme does have an added advantage which is that even if the movie looses popularity, it's very likely that people will still be attracted to car culture in general which will help with the appeal of the land even for people who might not have a connection with the movie.

As for the "ranking" of the Cars movies, they may have not been on the most popular movies, but they are some of the most profitable Disney movies due to the merchandising which is probably one of the main business drivers behind this decision.

How many 12 year olds can tell you what The Twilight Zone was? Despite that they are lined up 1000 deep to ride that Elevator! How many of them can name 3 Aerosmith songs? But, they are getting FP tickets 3 minutes after opening.

And, they all will be in line to ride a convertible going 35 to 40 MPH!

Merchandise is what really matters. When it comes to little girls, just think how much Disney makes off of a family of 4 going to see Cinderella at the movie theater or buying the movie on Blu-Ray. Now think how much they make off of that same family where the little girls go to WDW's Bippity Boppity Boutique and eat at CRT, and probably Norway as well.

I know for us DS8 is into Star Wars, and even though we have the movies on DVD, and now all on Blu-Ray and have gone to the theaters to see the movies. That's not even close to the money we've spent on the video games, Halloween costumes, Lego sets, shirts, action figures, etc., etc. that have been licensed by Lucas.

Same thing goes for our DS5, who lives and breathes all things car related, and when he discovered CARS, Matchbox and Hotwheels no longer cut it. He could probably go a couple weeks without repeating a Cars shirt, plus he's got the undies, some socks, coats, hats, backpack, etc., etc. Again, our family of 4 seeing CARS 2 twice was nothing in comparison to what has been spent on the merchandise.

Well he said 15-20 and I fall in that range so.

I know what Twilight Zone is. Freaked me out when I was younger.

As for Aerosmith here's 5
Walk this way
Dream On
Sweet Emotion
Kings and Queens
Remember

Anything else 15-20 year olds don't know?

I agree - my point was this: The ride experience is more important then the theme tie-in.

People do not ride ToT because of the Twilight Zone tie-in, they ride it because it is a cool ride. RnR would be just as popular if Aerosmith was out and AC/DC was in.

I wrote this as I was responding to a poster who believed other Disney Movies / Characters deserved more attention then a movie that was not critically received. My point was that the ride and the thrill. I believe the Movie Connection helps, but, is not critical to the overall experience - depending very much upon the ride. I look forward to going to Florida and being surrounded by those wonderful Arizona Buttes. I will be captivated by the experience - it could be Cars or Alice in Arizona as far as I am concerned.

Not sure I am making any sense, but, my comment on 12 year olds was reduced to 12 year olds - not sure how it got stretched to 15-20 year olds? Regardless, the point is this: You do not have any knowledge of the Twilight Zone to enjoy the Tower of Terror. You can listen to Wagner and enjoy RnR. The thrill is the experience. A good ride is a good ride - a mediocre ride is a mediocre ride.

Here is a chance to get a ride that is revered at DCA in Florida - I accept - thank you very much!

I believe the theme is more important to Disney corporate. If Cars is a hot merchandise commodity (as another poster suggested) - then - it even makes more sense as folks will buy Cars related merchandise.
