looking at buying dollars,who has the best rate? I did follow a thread last year but can't find it for this year.

I went to thomsons sat and it was 1.55 it's gradually going up I got a bit on sat but will get more

If you get a travel card through companys online you get a better rate.
I use the Caxton FX card and its currently 1.5685

Their rate at the moment is $1.586. I like them as you just pre order online and then go to one of the branches and handover your sterling and then handback the dollars so there is no risk to your money

I changed some more today at Bestforeignexchange and got a whopping $1.59

but I did notice that the FX rate went down slightly today

I'm also going to be needing to buy some dollars, ive just tried to get on the best foreign exchange website to check the locations for pick up but I can't seem to get on it??

I'm not sure whether to buy some now or hold out a little longer?

Thing is I don't seem to have much luck with exchange rates!

it went up a bit because of the Fed's move to start printing money (to buy back debt). A move that weakens the dollar, resulting in an improvement of the exchange rate for the sterling.

Hopefully this is the beginning of it going up again. Really cannot remember the last time it was $1.60 to the £1, must be well over 2 years??

No, it has touched 1.60 quite a few times over the last couple of years. I bought a few months ago (can't remember when, but during the school summer hols) and I got a rate of 1.60 on FairFX. Also bought at 1.62 odd before our trip last year. It does hit 1.60 - it just hasn't been sticking
