Brittany & Justin's May 2014 Wishes Wedding

Hello Fellow Disney Brides & Grooms!
I'm fairly new to the boards, but I have been a lurker for quite a while & I love all the advice, information & experiences that you ladies (& occasional guys) have shared. Hopefully my PJ will be helpful to someone, just as yours have been helpful to me.

About Us: I’m Brittany & my fiancé’s name is Justin. We actually grew up in the same town but went to different high schools so we didn’t meet each other until 2007 when he started to work at the same place that I did. We instantly became friends & started to talk more & hang out, but we didn’t start dating until Sept. 10, 2011. We were engaged on July 15, 2012 & hopefully our wedding will be May 21, 2014. I realize that it is fairly early for me to start a PJ but I want to get all my ideas in one place & I would like to get stuff done as early as possible, because if all goes well I will be graduating college two weeks before our wedding. DF doesn’t necessarily mind that I’m planning & starting projects now, but he does keep reminding me that the wedding is a year & a half away lol. His only request so far has been that the wedding be in May, & as a girl that had no clue when I wanted to get married (but I knew where) May was fine with me.
My parents first took me to Disney World when I was 6 & I fell in LOVE with the Wedding Pavilion. I told my parents that ‘I’m going to get married here when I’m older’…now I said that every trip we took there & almost every time we went by it. I go to Disney every year to a year & a half. I did an internship there in 2008 (at the Yacht & Beach Club, merchandise). Disney is my happy place & I could never imagine getting married anywhere else.
Justin took his first trip to Disney World on July 4, 2010 with two of his friends & his dad. They only went for the day & he hated it lol. His friends made it from the front gates to the castle in like 5 seconds (or so I’m told), because they were running everywhere, they left him & his dad behind & met up with them right before the fireworks. Now somewhere during the day he got separated from his dad too so he was basically wandering around the MK by himself looking for the rest of his group, not being able to ride many rides because of the wait times, he did get to ride Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion & The Hall of Presidents. He still complains about all the people from that trip. I talked him into going over Christmas Break in January 2012, he enjoyed it more than the first time he went because 1. I didn’t run everywhere & didn’t act like I was in a hurry to get somewhere & 2. There were a lot less people. We stayed on property at Port Orleans Riverside (one of my favorites); I like to think that staying on property also helped make his second experience better lol. Since that trip I’ve slowly been turning him into a Disney lover, even though I don’t think he will ever love it as much as I do.

Yay another Disbride! Welcome!!! Don't worry it is never too early to start your PJ. What are you graduating with a degree for? I actually just graduated (I went back to school because I'm 28) with a degree as an Sonographer (which in other words is an Ultrasound Tech) at the end of March... Now I'm on the job search to hopefully find a job soon so I can help with the wedding $ wise. Sorry to ramble... Can't wait to hear about the proposal!!!

I use photobucket... its pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Congrats and welcome!! I got married this past May, and I think it's a pretty good month! Will 5/21/14 fall on Memorial Day Weekend or the weekend before?

I think since you're still in school it's good to have a longer engagement so you'll have time to really have the wedding you want. It's never too early to start planning! Plus, the more you learn about here, the easier things will hopefully be for you! We have a DISbrides group on facebook too, come join us!

I believe for a Wishes wedding you can get info about 18 months out. I'm not sure if that changed. I love your ring, it's so pretty! You're not a bad Disbride...I am a 2014 bride too and haven't updated my PJ very often yet. There will be more to post once time gets closer!

Thank you! I'll call them towards the end of the month then, since November is the 18 month mark for me. You're PJ is coming along so well though (at least in my opinion.)

Congrats on the engagement!! Our proposal story is SO similar!! We're not getting married at Disney but we are honeymooning there so I'm doing a Honeymoon PTR and PJ all in one. I haven't added it to my signature yet, but you're welcome to check it out!

happy to see another May 2014 bride love your story, and your ring is gorgeous!

I tried calling in October/November and they told me it was 16 months before for contact....which for us is in January...but that's next month! So yay!

Thanks! I called right before Christmas and while he took my information and said he would forward it on he told me to call back in January. Then the next day a different guy called me to talk about it, but I didn't hear my phone or even look at it until he was gone for the day (according to his voicemail) but I'm just going to call him in January I guess...lol

So just a short update...
In October I saw that Disney was releasing a collection of shoes at DSW & I fell in love with a pair, I was going to wait to get them until closer to the wedding but when I went to the DSW website a few weeks ago the shoes that I wanted were already on clearance! & I figured if I wanted them I should order them NOW lol

here they are...
In other news I have ordered & received our Save the Dates & I'm going to try to have them mailed out by the end of January...Now I know that this seems way too soon to be mailing them because I don't know much yet, but everybody & I mean literally everyone that knows we are getting married kept asking when we were mailing them out & things like that so I just went ahead & ordered them & decided I would send out a newsletter later with more details...

Save the Dates
I called Disney a week before Christmas & the guy on the phone (Nick) took my information, sent me an email & told me someone would call me back in 1-5 days to get started, 5 minutes later he calls me back and tells me that he forwarded my information but that I needed to call back in January because that was really the 16 month mark & he thought I said March of 2014 lol...The day after this conversation I was out of town with my family so I wasn't really paying attention to my phone (it was on silent) which is surprising in itself lol...Anyway I missed a call from a different Disney guy (Joe...I think) & he left me a voicemail & told me to call him back & he would answer any questions that I had...I didn't realize that I had a missed call let alone a voicemail until he was already gone for the day & I haven't really had a chance to call him back yet....But I believe January 3 I will be done seeing everyone & will have more than enough time to call him back and talk (& then I really will be at my 16 month mark so it works out better in my opinion) lol
