The Big Reveal

Those of you that read my PTR know that this trip was a surprise trip! Climb aboard my time machine, and I'll give you some backstory.

Our first WDW trip as a family was in March 2011. This trip started out to be a surprise trip, but we failed miserably. And when I say miserably, and mean it was a big FAT epic FAIL! Seriously, people...we booked the trip and caved in and told Emma an hour later. Needless to say, we had a FABULOUS time on that trip and couldn't wait to plan our return!

Now...back to present time...well...sort of...

On Christmas Day, 2011, we were sitting in the living room taking all of Emma's new Lalaloopsy dolls out of their boxes and watching the Disney Parks Christmas Parade. We started wishing that we had planned a trip back, SOON! Fast forward a little to New Year's Eve, when Disney made their "big announcement". The commercials had us hooked. Immediately, One Republic's song "Good Life" became our mantra. Prince Charming and I started talking seriously about planning a return trip. And on January 2nd, we booked it. 7 days, six nights in a standard view room at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter resort. We added 7 day park hopper passes and the Disney Dining Plan. Little did we know that this wouldn't be the end of the planning.

We recieved one of those beautiful little elusive PIN codes in the mail shortly after that in February. This PIN changed something for us. Our dining! YEP, we received a Free Dining PIN, and it included the our time frame we had booked for! WHOOPIE!!!!!!!!!! So, we immediately called and applied the PIN. We had already paid our trip in full, and this PIN called for Disney to refund us some moolah, so we did the next logical thing. We upgraded our dining to Deluxe and upgraded our room to a river view! We were so excited!!!! So after several ADR changes, and some very detailed lists on my part to get us organized it was time! It was March 28th, and the next day we were leaving for our happy place!!!

We were flying Southwest, and our flight out was scheduled to leave at 6:05am. So this meant that we had to get up WAY early because we live about an hour away from the airport. Of course, Prince Charming and I didn't sleep much that night because we were so excited. We had our alarm set for 2 am, but actually got up around 1:45 because we just couldn't stand to lay in the bed staring at the ceiling any longer. We got up and got ready, then made one of Emma's favorite breakfast foods: Cinnamon Rolls!!! We woke her up around 3 and the surprises began.

Now, this particular day was a Friday, and Miss Emma thought that she had school that day. She new that Spring Break was the next week, but she thought she still had one more day of school left. We fed her breakfast and sat her in the chair in the living room for one of the biggest surprises she's ever had.

I plan on posting the video soon, if I can ever get it to upload correctly. I'm having issues with it giving me error messages. So until then, I'll just tell you how it went.

Prince Charming turned on the One Republic song on the surround sound in the living room, and I started talking.

Me: "Emma? What does this song make you think of?"

Emma: "Disney World!!!"

Me: "Disney World? Does that make you happy?"

Emma: (dancing singing and smiling) "YES!"

Me: "Well, Mommy and Daddy have a surprise for you. You don't have to go to school today."

Emma: (Celebrating because she doesn't have to go to school)

Me: "You're not going to school because we're going to Disney World today."

Emma: Squeals, and starts kicking her legs

Me: (putting her Minnie Mouse ears on her) "Come on, you've gotta get ready. Memom and Poppy will be here to pick us up in just a few minutes. We're getting ready to leave. We'll be there by lunch time."

Emma: (more squeals and kicking)

Me: (I think I was crying)

So, after that, Memom and Poppy (Prince Charming's mom and dad) picked us up, and we headed toward the airport for our early flight!!!

Our First Day!!!

The next thing we knew, we were walking through the doors at Nashville International Airport, and were heading toward security!

The security checkpoint was a breeze, and we were off to our gate in no time!

Emma was so excited, and had been chattering ever since we got up, and hadn't stopped yet. She was looking out the window

and said "Mommy! I see our airplane!!!"

She spent some time coloring in her Disney Princess coloring books that we had brought while we waited, because it was still a little while before we would be boarding.

We boarding our plane, and before we knew it, we were landing in Orlando and heading toward the Magical Express! We were one of the first ones on the bus, so we took some pictures while we were waiting.

Mommy and Emma

Mommy and Dada

The whole crew!

We seriously had the best bus driver EVER. He told jokes and talked to everybody while we waited for the video to start. At one point we were all cheering and he even slowed the bus down so we could get this shot!

close

closer

almost there!

To our surprise, too, Port Orleans French Quarter was the first stop!!!

We got all checked in, but our room wasn't ready yet. No big deal though! It was early, and we were heading to Downtown Disney to get an autograph book, pen and some lunch!

So we hopped aboard the Sassagoula Riverboat

did a little shopping here:

and headed to Earl of Sandwich for an Original.

Next stop? The Magic Kingdom!!!

Our First Day! (cont'd)

After a glorious lunch at Earl of Sandwich, we hopped back on the boat to our resort, and caught the next bus to the Magic Kingdom!!!

We headed for the most logical first stop once we got there. We had to go see Mickey and Minnie!!!

We spent a while there just walking around and taking it all in. We were so happy to be there! We were so happy to see the castle, too! I even posted on Facebook about it. LOL. It said "Aint it pretty?"

We rode the Teacups, and Dumbo after that. The lines were SO long. We waited for what seemed like forever. We didn't care though. We were in Disney World!!!

We headed back to our resort, and finally got the text that our room was ready! We headed up to check out our room, rested for a few minutes, then headed out to our first of MANY ADRs.

Our Cast of Characters!...or...Meet the Family!

Now is the time for you to meet the first of the many characters that you will encounter on this TR. It's time to meet my family!

First up is me. My name is Gina, and I am a 31 year old wife and mother, and I'm also a full time banker. In my spare time (yeah...like there's much of that ) I like to read, sing, shop, and spend time with my wonderful family!

Uh...I'm the one on the left.

Also in that picture is DH, my Prince Charming. He is 32 years old, and is the most wonderful father and husband on the face of the Earth! He enjoys going to Disney World just as much as I do, too, which is totally awesome!!! When he's not at work he likes to play golf, and (as he says) hang out with his girls.

Next up is our little Princess, 6 year old Emma! Emma started kindergarten this year, and is the apple of our eye. Seriously, we would do anything for this little booger:

So, now that we have the intros out of the way, let's get going with the real reason why you're here! On with the fun!!!!

Yay! So glad you are back! And that y'all had a great dinner at Cali Grill! I was SO looking forward to our dinner (belated anniversary dinner) at Cali Grill, but it was fairly disastrous . It's coming up soon in my TR. Hopefully, we'll get to go back on our next trip though!

YAY!!! I'm so glad to be back!!! It's been far too long, but now that I'm getting semi-settled in to my new job, I'll have more time. YIPPEE!!!

I'm sorry that your dinner at Cali Grill was disastrous. I'll have to pop on over to your TR and catch up, won't I? I am so behind on everything!!!

Thanks for still following along! I'm glad you're still here!

Yay! You're back! I'm glad things have settled down for you. Crystal Palace- I love that place! We're not going this trip, though. We're trying the qsdp. I think it will work well for us with a toddler who doesn't like to sit very long at a restaurant. We'll just have to plan another trip when he gets a little older! And we'll have to try California Grill when we do- it sounds amazing!

Yep, things definitely have settled down. I never knew that you could work a job, have your desk COVERED in STUFF, and not feel even one bit stressed about it. It's a very new feeling for me. I hope it lasts!

Crystal Palace is one of our favorite places to eat breakfast in all of the World. It's so fun, and the food is great!

You definitely should give Cali Grill a try sometime. It is FANTABULOUS. I wish I could go right now.

Ya'll ready for another installment? I know I am! Without further ado, let's get this party started!! (Disclaimer: I will be in no way, be held responsible for my actions during this installment of said "Trip Report" It's been a total Monday, and I'm feeling a bit wonky. "End Disclaimer"

When we finally woke up from our food induced comas , we schlepped out of bed and got ready for our day. Wanna know where we went? See if you can guess...

Still don't know? Ok...how about this one?

Know where we are yet?

Ok...check this one out...

For those of you that guessed Epcot, YOU'RE RIGHT! You've won a new car!!!!

Just kidding. But it was a nice thought, huh?

Yep...today was Epcot day. This was the day my hubby had been waiting for ever since we started planning this trip. He was finally going to get to eat at Le Cellier. Cue the marching band and streamers!!!

We spent a little while playing our own version of "Where's Waldo" that we lovingly like to refer to as "Find the Emma".

Ya see her??

No? Well...what about now??

Yup...there she is! I found her! I win!!!! (insert maniacal laugh here) (Did I spell that right? Are you guys still listening? HELLOOOOO...Is this thing on???)

We played around in the lovely red telephone booths. (These darn things are so random, but so cute!)

awww...my wittle baby!

Does anyone want to explain to me why I look pregnant in this picture?? Seriously...WHY?

Daddy was on a very important phone call. My guess is his girlfriend. You know...Belle? LOL

Look...he thinks his got some serious swag...

Alright...alright...let's move on...

So we wandered through the Canada pavillion because it wasn't quite time for lunch. We went to O Canada! I don't remember ever seeing this before, but it was really neat! Not to mention it was really hot outside, and it was NICE and COOL in there. I plopped my behind on the floor and enjoyed the show fo' sho'!

Once it was time to check in for our reservation, we walked up to the podium, and well...checked in!

When it was time for us to be seated, we were sat at a table right near the kitchen. The place was lovely! It was so dark, and cool, and well...lovely!

I am going to go on and apologize in advance for my lack of food porn in this update. But I will do my best to describe them for you.

We ordered appy's first. Gregg ordered noneother that the glorious, wonderful, absolutely heaven-in-a-bowl, Chedder Cheese Soup. MAN was this stuff good! I had heard so much about it, but you really don't understand how good it is until you try it for yourself. And dip the pretzel bread in it? SCORE! Major win there people. YUM-O!!!

I had the tomato stack. (I think that's what it was called. It was right up my alley. Perfectly red, ripe, juicy tomatoes, with onion, blue cheese, balsamic drizzle and olive oil. Uh...can we say YUM? Come on...all together now...YUUUUUUMMMMMM....

Emma? A fruit cup. Yep...that kid loves her some fruit.

When it was time for entrees, guess what we all ordered? Yep...Steak. It is a steakhouse, right? I have the famed Mushroom filet. I have to tell you though...this is where the meal went downhill. The steak was nice and tender, but I found the dish overwhelmingly salty. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love me some salt, but SHEESH! This was totally off the richtor scale salty. WHEW!

Hubster's steak was pretty salty too (I think it was a NY Strip?)

Emma didn't really care for hers either.

So for entrees, we were 0 for 3. Would we fair better with dessert?

Well of course we would!

Chocolate Moose??? yummmmmmmmmmmm....I'm drooling right now. That stuff was (in a sing songy voice) AWESOMEEEEE!!!!!

Hubby had the creme brulee, which was really good too. And Emma? Yep...you guessed it! An ice cream sundae. LOL

So what happens after lunch???

Stay tuned to find out!

Love the phone booth photo shoot! I don't think you look preggo in that picture at all! I thought that was the best picture I had seen so far of you, for real! The blue shirt is perfect for your skin tone. You are gorgeous!

LeCellier sounds delicious...there are just so many choices in Epcot that we usually end up going somewhere more unconventional than a steakhouse...even with all the rave reviews it gets. I am sure we will make it there someday.

FYI: I started a thread in the Dismeet forum for anyone that wants to meet up with us on the 27th!

Awww...thanks. that's so sweet of you to say! I don't know what it is, but I hate almost every picture that's taken of me. LOL

YAY for the thread on the Dismeet! I'll have to mosey on over there tonight!
