Expect the Unexpected: A May/June 2011 Trip Report

Hi everyone, and welcome to my first trip report! If you followed me over from my pre-trip report, I'm glad to see you back, and to those of you who are just joining in, thanks!

My name is Amy, and I'm a 24 year old retail worker/student. I live in beautiful Nova Scotia, Canada with my fiance, her two cats, and our pet snake.

Our Disney vacation started on May 27th (2011) and went until June 4th. I can't stress how much I wish we were still hanging out with the mouse, in the sunshine, with a "Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bar" just soaking it all in. Alas, we all have to return to the "real world" at some point, and our time has come.

Alright, time to get down to business, so to speak. This vacation consisted of myself, my fiance, my parents, and eventually, my brother. We stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort, and were on the Disney Dining Plan (for free! ). I'm going to give a brief overview of our trip here, and then as time permits I'll come back and update properly (this is also partly so I can remember what happened on what day since I didn't keep a travel journal, despite all my good intentions ).

May 27 - Day 1: leave home for WDW! Dinner at Maya Grill
May 28 - Day 2: Day at AK, lunch at Yak'n'Yetti, night at HS, dinner at Pizza Planet
May 29 - Day 3: Morning at Epcot, lunch at Sunshine Seasons, dinner at 'Ohana, evening/night at MK
May 30 - Day 4: Morning in Downtown Disney, scoping out the Yacht Club, lunch at Electric Umbrella, dinner at Brown Derby, Epcot at night for Illuminations
May 31 - Day 5: Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
June 1 - Day 6: MK in the morning, lots of rain, lunch at Cosmic Rays with a DISser, Epcot, dinner at Sanaa
June 2 - Day 7: Breakfast at the Tusker House, lunch at Flame Tree BBQ, Epcot in the evening, dinner at Tangerine Cafe, the kitchen sink!
June 3 - Day 8: EMH at Epcot, AK for a short time, dinner at the 50's Prime Time Cafe, EMH at MK
June 4 - Day 9: leave WDW

So there you have it, just a taste of what's to come. Until my next update (which will probably be tonight), I'll leave you with this fabulous picture!

EDIT: So it's hard to believe it's been a year, but my time how time flies! I've decided to come back and give this an index for easier reading.

Aww, thanks guys!

Now, just to prepare you all, I can be pretty long-winded sometimes, so there might be a lot of reading in my posts, but I'll try to add some pictures in there too, but the first one probably won't have many pictures in it, just because of the nature of it. I'm getting ready to post the first real installment. Here goes!

Day 1: Are We There Yet?

So my trip report begins on May 26th. I know it sounds a little weird, but you’ll soon find out why.

So picture this: It’s May 26th, 9:30 pm. My fiancé and I are in a mad scramble to get everything packed and ready to go. Our flight leaves at 6:35 am, which means we have to be out of the apartment by 4:15 am. Bedtime is in half an hour, but I’m too excited (and a little stressed) to even think about sleeping, so I take a gravol (like Dramamine) and continue to clean the apartment and pack any last minute things. The phone rings, but I’m in the middle of cleaning out the litter box so my fiancé answers it for me. It’s an automated message. American Airlines regrets to inform of us that our flight has been cancelled. WHAT?! CANCELLED?!

So that’s when, excuse the expression, all hell broke loose. My fiancé took down the phone number to call American Airlines to try and get us re-booked on another flight and I called it right away, from my cell phone. After explaining to the person on the phone what happened and getting transferred to someone else to help, the house phone rings and it’s my parents. Now, I’m in the middle of talking to the person at American Airlines and my fiancé is talking to me at the same time trying to tell me my mom is also on the line with American Airlines. At this point I had to tell the person from American that I had to call back because it appeared that someone was already handling our problem. Thoroughly confused, I hang up, and start talking to my dad, who is also slightly confused because he’s only been getting half of the information from my mom. In the background my fiancé is freaking out because our flight got cancelled and what are we going to do about our dinner reservations and everything? This is when the gravol kicks in. Now I’m feeling very dopy, yet stressed and agitated.

After being on the phone with American Airlines for probably 45 minutes, my mom had my fiancé and I re-booked on a flight for the following afternoon (the 27th) but they didn’t have 4 seats on the plane so my mom and dad got put on a flight for the morning after (28th). We were not impressed at this point. It sucked majorly to have to loose pretty much a full day, but for my parents to loose a day and a half, well, it sucked even more. Then I had to call the Magical Express people to inform them about the flight change, and I also called Disney Dining to cancel our Coral Reef reservations . I re-booked us in at the Maya Grill for 8pm, thinking that we would have more than enough time to get there after landing at 6:30 pm. At this point it was around midnight and I needed to get some sleep, so I went to bed, a mix of cranky and happy.

The next morning (27th) was pretty uneventful. It just consisted of us getting up and twiddling our thumbs until my mom came to drive us to the airport. The drive was uneventful and we got there with plenty of time to spare. The guy at the check-in counter was okay. He wasn’t overly perky but was quick so it was good. There wasn’t any line for security, which also went very smooth, and there wasn’t any line for customs, which was awesome. The customs officer wasn’t as cold as they normally are, so I guess we got lucky.

We then had a bit more waiting to do, as per usual when traveling anywhere. Our flight was a little late leaving, but we arrived in New York early, which was nice. That flight was good, but the flight attendant wasn’t exactly enthusiastic. When we got to New York we had some time so we decided to look around for a bit and then head to our gate. On the way to our gate, we noticed that it had changed, so we turned around and headed towards the new one. When we go there, there was a huge crowd around the counter and one of the ladies was calling out names. A little worried about what was going on, I approached one of the ladies at the counter and asked. She didn’t look up from her computer screen, and told me “your name will be called”. That wasn’t exactly the answer I was looking for…in fact, it was no help at all. So there we were, in a large crowd of people, just waiting to see what would happen. Then an announcement comes on that says they over-booked the flight and were offering incentives to anyone who would wish to take a later flight. Not again! Now we’re back to panic mode. After all the trouble we’d already gone though, we may not get on this flight.

Shortly after this announcement they started the pre-boarding for the flight. No one went up to the gate so they opened it up for “group 1” tickets. Lucky us, we were in group 1. On edge, we went up to the lady who was checking the boarding passes and she goes to scan ours…apparently they’re not working…great. She then goes over to the other computer, but comes back a few minutes later with new boarding passes and lets us on the plane. THANK GOODNESS! FINALLY!

Now that we were all settled on the plane I was able to breathe one big sigh of relief. We were finally getting to Disney World! Our flight was nearly an hour delayed by the time we left, due to whatever happened in New York (still don’t know what it was all about), so I knew there was no way we would make our dining reservation but there was nothing we could do. I was just happy to be on the plane!

The flight was another good one. There was very little turbulence, and not too many young children crying about the pressure changes, but the flight attendants weren’t very friendly yet again.

When we got to Orlando I almost cried. Infact, I almost cried several times in the airport just because we were there. It was a quick trip to the Magical Express, and there was a very short wait for a bus. Once we got on the bus we had to wait a little while for it to fill up a bit, but I didn’t care much because we were going to Disney World! I almost cried several other times during the bus ride because we were finally there…after 3 long years I was finally back…going ‘home’. Through all this excitement there was a crazy thunder/lightning storm going on. It was the most amazing thing…we just don’t get storms like that here, so it was really awesome to see it. Unfortunately, this meant that it was raining. A lot. When we got off the bus it was pouring, and neither of us had umbrellas or rain gear. My first order of business once we got settled was to get a poncho from the gift shop. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

The Coronado Springs was the first stop our Magical Express bus made, and aside from my fiancé and I there was only one family of four getting off as well. Check-in was excellent, and the front desk staff was great. Our room was in Cabanas building 8B. It was bit of a hike, in the pouring rain, with lighting and thunder, but eventually we found our room. It was very nice.

After drying off a little and unpacking, it was time to eat. We were both starving, and although we had planned on going to Epcot when we got there, we decided that with all the rain and how late it was (about 9pm) it just wasn’t worth it. So, instead of Epcot, we decided to stick with the Maya Grill. We didn’t have to wait any longer than 2 minutes for a table, which was nice. Normally I would have taken pictures of our food, but we were both very hungry and forgot. We had the sampler plate for 2, which was fantastic! There were shrimp tacos, steak, and I don’t remember the other thing…it was all really good though. We both had the key lime desert shot, which was also fantastic. I also found a hidden Mickey in the restaurant!

Once we finished up our meal, we headed over to the gift shop for ponchos. I was very impressed with the gift shop. There was a great selection of items, and the staff was very friendly.

So, after a long day, we went back to the room for some much needed sleep. Once we got back to the room the light on our phone was flashing. It was my mom with some bad news. Their flight out in the morning got cancelled…again! They were re-booked on the same flight that my fiancé and I had that day. Great. Now my parents lost pretty much 2 full days. I was not impressed. I’m still not impressed. American Airlines will be getting an angry e-mail from me soon, and probably one from my parents as well.

End of Day 1.

Unfortunately I only have one photo to get us started, but here it is!

Day 5: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

*Sorry there aren't any pictures in this update yet, but I'll add some really soon...also, sorry it's taken me so long to continue this TR. I get sad coming on the DIS when I don't have a trip planned...but there may be one in the works*

I woke up on Day 5 feeling very excited…today we were going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I had followed the construction pretty much since day one, so finally getting to see it all finished in person was a huge deal to me.

Having another early start to the day, my brother came to pick us up at the CSR and we drove over to UOR from there. We got there a touch later than I was hoping, but still early enough that I was satisfied. We splurged for preferred parking, and got in the Cat in The Hat lot.

This was the first time my fiancé had been to UOR since she was 9, and I hadn’t been since 2006, so needless to say, as we were walking along towards the entrance to City Walk, we were both really excited. Something that I thought was different was that the bag check wasn’t anywhere near the park entrance, but was back in the pedestrian walkways that take you to City Walk. I guess it must cut down on the lines getting in to the parks, but it seemed a little odd that you had to get your bag searched even if all you wanted to do is go to City Walk.

Once we got to the entrance to Islands of Adventure, we had to go to the kiosk to redeem our vouchers for actual tickets. There was hardly a line there, which was great because the park had literally just opened. Everyone was more or less making a b-line back towards where the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was, but we broke away from the crowd just before SuessLanding for a brief pit stop. As I closed the door to my stall I noticed a purse hanging on the hook on the back of the door, so once we had finished there my first order of business was to find a “cast member” and pass the purse along in hopes they would put it in the lost and found. Luckily it didn’t take long to come across someone who was very helpful and assured me it would get put in the lost and found at the front of the park. Satisfied, we continued to make our way back to WWoHP.

As we made our way through SuessLanding and then The Lost Continent, I was reminded of how much I missed that park. I kept pointing out points of interest to my fiancé as we went along, because she had never been there before. I wanted her to see Posidion’s Fury, but there just wasn’t enough time in the day for it, so that will have to wait until next time (if it’s still there then).

When we rounded the bend and Hogsmede came into view I got a little teary-eyed. Here it was, at long last.

Thanks to my reading up before hand, I knew that the best plan of action for us was to put our stuff in the lockers at Dragon Challenge and then head over to the Forbidden Journey line up. By now the park had been open for about half an hour, and it was already packed in WWoHP. Olivander’s had a really long line, but we bypassed that and headed straight for the Forbidden Journey. The line was really long, but I knew to just make my way to a “cast member” to let them know we didn’t have any bags, and that we would be directed as to where to go.

We only had to wait about 20-25 minutes in the line to get on the ride, which was awesome. The line moved fairly quick, which is good in that you get on the ride quicker, but is bad in that you don’t get to take in the themeing as much as you would like. The site I had looked mentioned this, so I wasn’t disappointed. They suggested to do the castle tour first, and then get in line, but I was itching to get on the ride, so we went on the ride first, then did the castle tour.

*FORBIDDEN JOURNEY SPOILER ALLERT*
The ride itself is amazing. I was really nervous, but I had no need to be. It was unlike any other ride I’d ever been on because of the movement of the ride vehicle. It really did feel like you were flying. The scene with the Whomping Willow was done really well. It looked just like the tree from the movies, and the motion was seemless. The Dementors were also really well done, very spooky. The large spiders were done well too…almost too well. I had to shut my eyes for a minute during that part…I don’t like spiders. The on-ride photo that we had turned out awesome. My fiancé had the funniest expression on her face, and I had my eyes shut. We would have bought it, except it was about $30 for one picture…no way! All in all though, it was and still is my favourite ride of all time.
*END FORBIDDEN JOURNEY SPOILER ALLERT*

After the ride, my brother and parents split up from my fiancé and I. Our plan was to go to the Hogs Head for some butterbeer, while everyone else wanted to do the castle tour. We agreed to meet up later. So, it was off to the Hogs Head. I think we got there just as they were about to set up a proper queue, because the line we were in went in the opposite direction to what they wanted, but since no one was there to tell us where to stand, we were okay where we were. At this point there were two lines of people wanting butterbeer, one large line, and one smaller line. My fiancé and I were in the smaller one. The bartender was pouring butterbeer for our line first to make things a little easier, and I think that because he was just trying to get people through quickly he gave us our butterbeer for free! I tried to pay him, but he said it was “on the house”! Who would have guessed we would get some pixie dust sprinkled our way in IoA.

Hidden Mickey? I think so...

The butterbeer was really good, just what the both of us needed at the time. It was really hot out, and it was crowded, so it was nice to take a break from the heat and crowds for a bit, and just soak up the atmosphere. We decided that because it was so crowded already, and getting worse that it would probably be best to see other things and come back later on, so we decided to go on Spider Man next. I could have sat there for hours, but we had lots of stuff to see and time was ticking on, so off we went, taking pictures along the way.

After taking a quick pit stop in ToonTown, we got in line for The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman. Now, every time prior to this trip I’d been staying on-site, which gives you an express pass for every ride so you don’t have to wait as long. I had been used to waiting a max of 15 minutes for most rides at USO and IoA, and once we got to the Spider Man ride and I saw a posted wait time of 35 minutes (could have been 40, I can’t remember), with the line up out the door, I realized just how silly it would be to think we could get everything done in one day with both parks. It was this moment when I decided to let go of certain rides, and choose to do my favourites only.

About 5 minutes of waiting in the line up for the ride, my fiancé informs me that she has to pee again. This is about 10 minutes after having just gone in ToonTown. I asked her if she wanted to get out of line now while we hadn’t gotten too far into it, or if she thought she’d be able to make it until after the ride, and she opted to stay. She really should have gone. Once we got into the room with the video playing she was about to burst, so it was decision time. Let her go find a restroom on her own and stay in line to do the ride, or leave with her and come back. I couldn’t just let her go by herself, never having been in the park before, so we decided to leave, but at this point we had literally just passed that room with the video and were picking up our 3-D glasses, so essentially, about to get on the ride. We walked up to a ride attendant to explain the situation to see if we might be able to come back and walk on, rather than waiting in the line again. She was very understanding and said it wouldn’t be a problem, so off we went.

When we got back to the ride, we entered through the exit and the attendant let us right on, which was great. It was a favourite ride of mine, so I enjoyed it, and my fiancé thought it was worth the wait, as she enjoyed it too. So, the moral of this story…if you need to pee when you get in a line up, leave right away and go back.

Once we were done at Spider Man, my fiancé was getting hungry, and it was only about 11:30 or so, so we decided to break for an early lunch in hopes of beating the crowds. The first time I went to USO and we stayed on-site, one of the places we ate was Thunder Falls Terrace. I’m not sure if it was because we were all so hungry, or because the chef was having a good day, but the food that time was to die for. I enjoyed it so much that I knew I had to take my fiancé there when we made our visit, so the next order of business was to backtrack to Jurassic Park for lunch.

The food was just as good as I remember, but it was a shame I wasn’t as hungry as I had been before because I ended up not eating about half of my chicken. My fiancé made a pretty good dent in hers though, and she really enjoyed it too. It was also nice being able to watch the River Adventure come down right outside the window, and since my fiancé is a big dinosaur nerd, she enjoyed the themeing.

By the time we were done eating, it was getting really hot out, so we decided to head over to Pop Eye to cool down a bit. I figured the lineup would be really long because it was so warm, but to our surprise, we only had to wait 5 minutes or so. The ride was as awesome as always. It had been one of my favourites in the past, so to be able to share that with my fiancé was really cool. She liked it too, but she said she still liked Kali more because of the themeing. After having been on Kali now, I can say that I still like Pop Eye better…it’s longer.

So now that we were completely soaked, we thought it would be a good time to head over to USO to check out a few rides there. On my list of things to do was E.T, The Simpsons, Men in Black, The Mummy, and Jimmy Newtron if it was operational that day. We were hoping to go back over to IoA around 5 simply to soak up the rest of the Wizarding World. It was a lot to do in a few short hours, but I felt up to the challenge.

Things at Universal hadn’t changed a whole lot for me, despite the addition of the Rip, Ride, Rocket and the Simpsons. Walking through the archway was like seeing an old friend again. It was nice to be back, but somehow I wasn’t as impressed as I had once been. My fiancé didn’t remember much of anything from her pervious visit, except for the Kong ride, which was no longer there.

The first thing I wanted to do in USO was E.T. It had been a family favourite on past trips, and I couldn’t wait to do it again. It was as great as always, and walking through the forest brought back memories. My fiancé enjoyed it too, she thought it was cute.

We decided to head over to the Simpsons after E.T, but as we were on our way over we were discussing how much we didn’t really like the show growing up, so in the end, we bypassed it altogether. Looking back on it, I’m a little disappointed I didn’t get to ride it, but I loved Back to the Future so much that it would seem sacrilegious to go on the Simpsons ride. I’m sure the overall movement of the ride has gotten way better, and the screens are better, but I’m still sad that they took it out and put the Simpsons in its place. Next time I’m there I’ll go on it....

So after deciding against The Simpsons we went to Men In Black: Alien Attack. I love that ride so much…I wish we could have done it more than once, but my fiancé has a bit of trouble on spinning rides, and at the end of the ride you spin for a good 15 seconds or so, which is about the limit she can take. She really liked it though, despite the spinning. It was neat to see the whole line, where you enter in the “elevator”…I’d only been in the express line so I always bypassed that part. I got the highest score in the car, but it wasn’t as good as some of the other times I’d been on it.

You have to put your stuff in a locker to go on that ride, and it was a busy day, so it took us a minute to get a locker but we got one eventually. When we went back to get our stuff out of the locker, there was some kind of an error, so we had to find an attendant to help us, only there wasn’t anyone around, which was frustrating. Apparently we took too long to put our stuff in the locker or something…I still don’t quite know what happened. Anyway, we had to wait a good 15 minutes until someone came along and we could get our stuff back.

Once the locker incident was rectified, we made our way over to Jaws, but it was down so we couldn’t go on. At this point I was getting a little hungry, and the funnel cake stand just happened to be close by, so we stopped for a funnel cake. My fiancé had never had one, so instead of getting one each, we just split one. She really enjoyed it, but we were glad we only got one because more than half of one would have been too much.

As we were eating our funnel cake, we got to talking about the WWoHP, and decided that despite the fact we didn’t get to do a whole lot at USO, we wanted to go back and soak up the atmosphere there until we had to leave. Of course we took our time leaving the park and making our way back over, but that was our general course of action.

We almost went on Twister, and Shrek, but just browsed around in the gift shops instead. The Rip, Ride, Rocket was down that day so we didn’t get to see it in action, but I still can’t get over how big that drop is…there is no way I could tackle that one. As we walked past The Mummy I tried to talk my fiancé into riding it, but she wasn’t having it, so we skipped that one too.

So, with a few more pictures and one last wave goodbye, it was time to head back over to IoA for the last 3 hours of the day or so.

When we got back to IoA we did the Cat in the Hat, and the Seuss Trolley Train Ride before slowly meandering back to WWoHP. Once back there, we went into the gift shop that you come out of on the HP ride, I think it’s called Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods. I noticed you could see the locker area for the ride through the gift shop, so because we were right there, we decided to do the ride one more time. It was just as awesome the second time. After this ride we explored the gift shops some more, and split a bottle of pumpkin juice in the owlry. Once done the pumpkin juice, we just sat there and soaked up the HP atmosphere some more, before going back into the gift shops to make our purchases. I was given money by a friend of mine to get her stuff from WWoHP, so I ended up getting her some pumpkin juice and a few chocolate frogs. I bought a pink pigmy puff…it’s soo cute!

By this time it was time to head back to the front of the park to meet back up with everyone else and head back. Once we met up with everyone, that’s when we decided we wanted to try and see if could get the on-ride photo of my fiancé and I from the first time we rode the ride in the morning, so back through the park we went. At this point, it was about 30 minutes to park closing, so as tired as everyone was we hurriedly walked back. When we got there, that’s when we found out how much it would be, and decided we just couldn’t do it, so back to the front of the park we went. It was after park closing now, and we were just taking our good old time leaving. Before we headed back to the resort, we took a quick stop in the Hard Rock Café shop.

Overall, the pace we had was a bit hurried for the whole day and there were other rides I would have liked to have done, but I think I would have been rushing us too much to have done anything more than what we did. All in all, it was a long and busy day, but it was awesome, and one of the highlights of my trip. I hope to get back to USR and have 3 days to spend between both parks so it wouldn’t be as rushed, but I was happy just to see WWoHP, let alone my other favourite rides.

Up next: Day 6…Chai Cremes.

Welcome back!

Sounds like a really busy day. I haven't been to Universal since 1998. I really don't feel the need to go back. One of these days we will, I guess with the Harry Potter craze dies down.

Hopefully I'll be able to start work on getting Day 6 all done up and ready to be posted in the next few days.

I interrupt this regularly scheduled Trip Report with a special news bulletin...

Hi everyone (or those of you still hanging in there)! I wanted to take a break from the trip report for a second to give everyone a life update.

The biggest bit of news from me is that I recently started a new job. I didn't leave my previous job because I was unhappy, but I was made aware of a good opportunity for me, so I applied for the position and I got it. I am now working full-time for a drug store chain in a store that has yet to open. We are currently getting everything ready for the opening day, but as of yesterday at 6 pm there was sill no running water in the building, so hopefully that will get fixed soon. The opening date is the 27, with the grand opening slated for the 29, but I have a feeling that will get bumped back a little bit.

The other thing of note is that my fiance and I have been thinking about our wedding a bit more seriously as of late. We put our wedding bands on layaway and will hopefully pick them up before Christmas. We still need to secure a venue, and food, and pretty much all the other stuff, but we're at least on our way to getting things started off. We've also decided that for our honeymoon we are going to WDW...of course! We're hoping to go for a full 2 weeks, and we're looking at splurging at staying at the Wilderness Lodge (but would LOVE to stay at the Poly if at all possible, but that's an extra $2000!). We are looking at a wedding date of October 27, 2012 and Disney dates October 28-November 10 or 11, that way we can get MNSSHP and MVMCP in on the same trip.

Anyway, that's all the news I wanted to report...not much, but exciting stuff nonetheless. I've been keeping busy with my new job, so on my days off I just sort of sit around enjoying doing nothing. I hope to start Day 6 soon, just to keep things rolling. Until then, keep well!

Day 8: 4 Parks, 1 Day and Day 9: Brief Reflections

Part 1

This was it, our last day . I woke up feeling tired, and kind of sad. I didn’t want our vacation to end, and it seemed like we’d only just gotten there. I was trying hard not to think about it.

Our plan of attack for the day was to take advantage of the morning extra magic hours at Epcot, and then head over to the Animal Kingdom to do Dinosaur one last time, this time with my parents, then head over to the Hollywood Studios for a late lunch at the 50’s prime time café, and end the day at the Magic Kingdom for extra magic hours. It was ambitious to think we could do everything, but we were going to try our best.

Just as we were about to head for breakfast, the phone rang. It was someone at the front desk for my fiancé. This person was informed of the missing print, and got the full run-down. They told her to go to the front desk and ask for a certain person, and that they would be able to sort things out there. So, my fiancé and I headed off, ahead of my parents, to get the missing print situation sorted out.

Once in the lobby, we asked for the specified person. We had to wait about 5 minutes for him to arrive, and then we told him the story again. He said they would probably be able to replace the print, but that we would have to talk to the lady in charge of the gift shop to make sure that it wouldn’t be a problem to get it delivered to the room on the last day of our stay. So, off to the gift shop we went, with the guy whose name I unfortunately don’t remember. (I’m doing this from memory, I have absolutely no notes about this day, and it happened about 5 months ago…thank goodness for pictures!).

The lady at the gift shop was more than accommodating. She called the store in Downtown Disney to see if the artist they had there that day was able to sketch Eve for us, and if so, if they would be able to get it over to the hotel before the end of the day. She was able to get everything secured for us, which was awesome. We were both very pleased with how the situation was dealt with, and very grateful for being able to get a replacement print. I guess there is a reason Disney ranks so high on customer service.

Anyway, with that taken care of, it was time for a quick breakfast at the Pepper Market. This time I had pancakes I think, and my fiancé had the French toast. My parents had the same thing they had the other morning we ate there. The service wasn’t any better this time, and we were glad we had only eaten breakfast from there twice.

When we got to Epcot, the park had been open for a short time, but we headed right over to get fast passes for Test Track anyway. Today was about the rides, especially the ones we didn’t get to do as a group. So, while we waited for the fast pass time to roll around, we went over to The Seas with Nemo and Friends. I really do enjoy it in there. While we were there we got to see part of a dolphin training session, which was pretty neat. I could have stayed longer, but we could go back to Test Track at this point, and we had a lot to accomplish, so over we went.

After Test Track, which was awesome, we went over to get fast passes for Sorin’. When we got them and saw how long we had to wait, my parents decided to go to the Photo Spot, because they had wanted to do that the whole trip. My fiancé and I didn’t care so much about getting photos done, so we went over to Mission Space one last time. We got put into a exploration group with a father and son team, and it was the little guy’s first mission, so he was a little nervous, but we made him feel better about it. We all enjoyed the ride, and once we got off, the little guy said it was his new favourite ride. He was super cute.

At this point we didn’t want to miss my parents, so we just went over to a bench near the exit of the Photo Spot to wait for them. It wasn’t long before they came out, looking very happy. We were able to use our Sorin’ fast passes now, so over we went. We got lucky and were put in row 1 again. It’s so much better being up that high, not being able to see people’s feet dangling. This time we got in the middle section, and after the ride was over we decided we liked being on the far left side better because you couldn’t see people on either side of you.

Feeling satisfied that I had done everything in Epcot that I could have done this trip, we said goodbye to Epcot, and headed for a bus to the Animal Kingdom. Once we got there, the only thing we did was Dinosaur. We took a few minutes to look around in a gift shop or two, but we literally went in the park, rode Dinosaur, looked in a gift shop, and left. It was just enough time spent there to say we did it. My fiancé would have liked to ridden it another time, just because, but we had to get over to Hollywood Studios for our lunch reservation.

We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, and so were given a buzzer. We just hung out for a while, waiting for our table to be ready. Maybe 10 minutes later, our buzzer went off, and we were seated. I was excited for the fried chicken, because I had enjoyed it so much the last time I was there, but I was undecided whether or not I wanted to branch out this time. In the end I ended up going with “old faithful”, but I substituted the collard greens for some green beans. It was my fiancé’s first time at the Prime Time, and she loved it. I’m pretty sure she went with the pot roast. My mom had fish, I believe, and my dad also went with the fried chicken. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, and when dessert time came, we had a hard time finishing everything. I went with the seasonal cobbler, my fiancé had the smore, my mom didn’t get any desert, and I don’t remember what my dad had.

I'm not sure whose food this was, but it looks nothing like what I remember people ordering, lol, so I'm not sure what I mixed up...

Continued...

By now everyone was starting to feel the overall pace of the day. My mom proclaimed she was going back to the hotel to get a head start on packing and to take a little nap. I decided to go along with her, while my fiancé and my dad decided to stay out for a little while and meet up with us at the resort later on. Here are some pictures that my fiance got while I was back at the hotel. It was a Star Wars Weekend...

When we got back to the room, I walked in to find a very pleasant surprise. My fiancé’s Eve print was propped up on our bed! I was very happy to see this, and thought she would be thrilled to find out.

After a little nap, I was ready to go. My fiancé didn’t get back to the room until just after I had woken up. She was amazed, and very happy that the print had already been made and was delivered. By now I think it was about 6 pm. My mom had a nice nap as well, but was packing her stuff when I woke up.

We waited until around 7:30 or 8 for my dad, but he never showed up. At this point my fiancé and I were ready to hit the Magic Kingdom. My mom wanted to stay behind to see if my dad would show up, so she stayed.

Once we got to the Magic Kingdom, tons of people were filing out. I think the Main Street Electrical Parade had just ended, and there were a lot of people leaving for the night. It was hard for us to navigate the crowd, but somehow we managed to get just past the shops on Main Street USA before we decided to just stay put. The Magic, The Memories, And You, was underway at this point, so we decided to go by the Crystal Palace and watch, because there was no point trying to beat the crowd. Once the show was over, there was an announcement made that Wishes would start in, 10 minutes, I think it was, so we decided to stay to watch that as well. I was really happy to be able to see it one last time. After wishes was over, the crowd leaving the park got even worse, so we just stayed in the same spot to let the crowds clear out. We got to see The Magic, Memories, and You one last time, before the crowds had thinned out enough that we could get some popcorn and stake out a spot for the Main Street Electrical Parade.

Both my fiancé and I had been wanting popcorn the whole trip, but we kept forgetting to get some, so we were really satisfied when we finally got it. We ended up staying pretty close to the popcorn cart at the end of Main Street to watch the parade. I have to say, I was a little sad that they had taken Spectro Magic away, but after having seen the “new” parade, I was pleasantly surprised. It was really good! I’m glad I got to see it. It wasn’t the same as Spectro Magic, but it was a good replacement.

We waited a little while after the parade ended before we got up to finally get on some rides, when I spotted my mom. Apparently she had just arrived in the park, and had just caught the tail end of the parade. When she had left the hotel she still hadn’t seen my dad, so she decided to just go out and enjoy her last night in the parks. We all figured we would run into him at some point that night, because all of the other parks would be closed soon anyway.

I can’t quite remember if we went on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority first or not, but I do remember that we got a few photo pass pictures taken before we did our first ride. It was kind of funny, because the photo pass photographer recognized us and said to my mom “your husband has been looking for you”. Apparently my dad had been by earlier in the night, and said he was a little worried that he couldn’t find us. I thought it was awesome of my dad to have mentioned it to someone, and even more awesome that the guy remembered us.

Anyway, I don’t know if our first ride was the TTA or not, but I do know that we went on Cinderella’s Carousel because my fiancé couldn’t believe that I had never been on it. Part of me wants to say we did do the TTA, then the carousel. From there we went over to Big Thunder, because that’s what my mom really wanted to do. We love riding it at night. At this point we were all getting really tired. My mom didn’t want to head back so soon, but she was fading fast, and we weren’t far behind her. We all did one last ride together, Pirates of the Caribbean. We had virtually no wait, which was awesome.

After our final voyage on Pirates, my mom went back to the resort. My fiancé and I decided to stay for one last ride on the Haunted Mansion. I almost started crying on the ride because I knew it would be the last time I’d get to see it for a long time, but my fiancé said we could go on it again because she knew how much I loved it. Once we picked up our final hitchhiking ghost, it was time to say farewell to the Magic Kingdom. I hated to leave, but we were so tired we were stumbling. We still hadn’t run into my dad, which was also slightly worrisome. We had been hoping that my mom would have run into him already.

With one final glance at Cinderella’s Castle, we were on our way to the bus stop.

Once we got back to the resort, we were very surprised to find out that my dad still hadn’t come back. By this time the park was closing down, so we figured he’d have to be back soon. When my fiancé and I left there were only about 45 minutes left of the EMH’s.

We all got our receipts sorted out, clothes packed away, and made sure everything was ready to go for the morning. By the time we went to bed, my dad still hadn’t come back.

Day 9: Going Home

Day 9 started with an alarm, and waking up to the relief that my dad had come back. Apparently he showed up around 3 am. He was one of the last guests out of the park. We should have known he would have taken advantage of the empty park to take pictures in.

Anyway, I’m not going to mention much about this day, because it’s the one that everyone dreads. I felt like I had to add it though, because of my dad being MIA the night before.

Our flights home were all on time, and were all great. None of our luggage got lost, none of our things got broken in transit, and customs was a breeze. I pretty much cried on the ME back to the airport though. I was so sad to be leaving, not knowing when I’d be going back. I didn’t want to have to go to work the next day. I didn’t want to have to cook my own meals again, or deal with late buses, or do laundry. I wanted to stay in Disney World, for a long time.

So that pretty much wraps up my trip report. It was a fantastic trip, all in all. Sure it had its ups and downs, but those were only minor speed bumps. There are loads of other pictures I wanted to share here, but didn’t have room, so I may come back and add some later on.

Thanks to everyone who has stuck with me. I hope you enjoyed my TR! If you did, keep an eye out, because there might be a new PTR just around the corner.
