I'm happy to dance with you
I have 2 opinions
We had tried usual things to keep them away, including something like coyote urine, it is sold in hardware stores by us

Have Hummingbirds made their way to you? Update 5/15/2013

I got an e-mail from a friend who lives in Wisconsin and she's seen humminbirds already. We've had those cute visitors for the past 4-5 years, but they aren't here yet. Where are you? ... Have they arrived?

I'm in the SW corner of Ohio...and no, haven't seen any yet!

Bobbi

Talking

A bit late to the party but I've been having hummingbirds and orioles all summer. I've watered down my nectar mix since I posted that because it's been so darn hot lately.

More information about homebrew nectar mixes in this post. Way more economical than the store-bought stuff and anyway Red Dye is bad news for hummers.

We are back from a 3 1/2 week vacation, road trip to see family and friends mostly.

We saw a hummingbird by our rented cabin in Pigeon Forge, but none by our Cape May home. Here, our hummingbird feeder broke when we were away, and we'll be buying a new feeder today!

DSis announced that she had a hummingbird visit her Toms River NJ feeder.

Any other sightings?

Hi, Bobbiwoz---thought I'd post here about our hummingbirds--or lack thereof this year. I've seen ONE at my feeder. I've kept it clean with fresh syrup (i make my own) and it's in the same spot as last year I just don't know where they went!

OTOH, I have purple house finches galore! They must have decided that our trees are THE place to be. I've never seen this many in my yard before. I keep a shallow, large saucer of fresh water on my deck railing and they love to come sip and dip.

We make our own syrup too. Keep trying, they find their way to you soon! DH is on his way to buy a new feeder for us.

Thanks for posting your birding results!

Our purple coneflowers are thriving. They attract goldfinches once the seeds develop. I can't wait to see them.

I haven't been around to see what's feeding at our feeder, will keep an eye out and post!

Bobbi
