Couch to 5k

I searched and didn't see a dedicated thread, so I figured I'd start one.

Which week are you on and how are you doing? Do you have any tips for other c25kers?

I'm Haley and I am on week 4 day 2. So far it is going great despite a month long break due to injury.

I just finished week 3--one to week 4! Thanks for starting this thread. For now I'm just working toward a local 5K but if I can become a "runner" and make this a long-term habit, I'm going to reward myself with a Disney race.

Me!!! I'm on W3 and need to do D3 today. I was supposed to do it yesterday, but my weekend was just too full of stuff.

So, I'll have to either do two days in a row (I know, not supposed to do that) or switch to MWF instead of TTh and either Sat or Sun for my runs.

I really like the program -- I actually look forward to walk/running.

Yay!

Friday I did w4d2 with no problem at all. Today was w4d3, which is the same, and I was barely able to finish! It was the strangest thing. I wonder if it was my shoes. I ran today with my orthotics for the first time.

mamacate I went ahead and paid for two local 5ks so I would run them. I am planning on doing the Princess 1/2 marathon in Feb with a huge group of people. I really hope I am able to do it.

How are you guys doing?

I took a jog around the neighborhood today so I could see the storm damage. It was really windy, so it was tough. I had fun though. Today was supposed to be one of my rest days so I didn't time the running and walking parts.

Hi All, I was in the mood to share my story thinking maybe it might inspire somebody else. This picture is from the Disney Magic pre-C25K.

This photo is just after running my first 5K some time later.

It sounds cliche, but if I can do it, anyone can. I weighted 270 at my heaviest. I hadn't run since high school. A simple app on my iPhone has changed my life. I have stayed with the running, although I still only do 30 minutes. Feel free to PM me if I can answer any questions or help in any way.

Good luck to everyone wherever they are on their journey to better health.

You look great Marc!!!! Thanks for sharing your story!

I don't have any pics to share yet. DH says my stomach and butt are better but I don't see it, on the scale anyway. I am down one pants size since starting but I haven't really made any huge changes food wise. I guess it's time to do that.

Off to do my first 20 minute run. I'm askeered! LOL

Week 5, Day 1 went very well. I made it through and it actually wasn't as bad as I thought. Now....Day 3 may be a completely different story!

Buffy! Way to go, so glad it went well and you had a great time!

I'm in WEEK 9!!!!!! OMg, can't believe I made it this far. Did an outside 28 minute run Sunday and it was great. I didn't watch the clock and nothing was sore. The hills still kill me, but I did them and my average pace was between 14-15 minutes which surprised me since last time it said 18 minutes. Maybe it was wrong although I was trying to go a bit faster. I wasn't even tired or sore afterwards, seems recovery is much easier/faster so the runs get longer and I get used to it. I really think I may just be able to do the 5k June 4th in 45 minutes'ish. That's my goal. There is a hill right at the beginning and then it's flat. The start is gonna kill me.

Thanks for the link. I do wear my ring sometimes but also think it ight have to do with my electrolite

WOOHOO!! how did you feel after??

I need to get back on the treadmill but I've been really busy catching up on house work.

It's supposed to be really nice here the next few days so I'll be spending a ton of time outside doing yard work instead.

I did it!!!! I actually ran 20 mins. straight this morning It wasn't fun the whole time, but I stuck it out and I did it. It was a little rough mentally at times, but physically I really was fine. -I did use icy/hot before I left- thanks for the tip!
I think that's the longest I've ever run consistently in my life. A month ago, I would've never thought I'd do it. I drove what I ran afterwords, and it was 1.5 miles. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I was pretty impressed. Anybody who'd on week 1 or 2, just hang in there, it gets better. I remember my first 2 weeks were the hardest for me, but it gets easier.
