Talking The Drinker and Dessert Fiend are Back - Completed 6/26!

I just posted a last review on another dining report...so that means it's time to start a new one! Lucky me, I usually go to Disney often enough to be able to do that.

For the last two years, I have gone with my friend Mark to Disney World in mid-December. He's the drinker and I'm the dessert fiend. Although for this trip, I joined him more often in imbibing boozey beverages.

Here we are doing what we do best: eating!

OK so we're drinking and waiting for food to come, but close enough.

I will be giving the restaurants an overall letter grade at the end of each reviews. A, B, C, D or F (pluses and minuses possible).

The reviews will include:

Artist Point
Intermission Food Court Breakfast at ASMu
La Cava del Tequila
Karamell Kuche
'Ohana Dinner
Intermission Food Court Breakfast
Bistro de Paris Dinner
AKL Room Service Breakfast
Yak & Yeti Lunch
California Grill Dinner
Crystal Palace Breakfast - sorry, skipping this one since my camera battery died and I didn't get any photos. I've reviewed it before if you really want to see the food. It was delicious as always!
Todd English's bluezoo Dinner
Sanaa Lunch
Jiko Dinner
Boma Breakfast
Turf Club Dinner

As my kittehs would say...the noms begin soon!

Can't wait! You have some restaurants on your list that I don't see reviewed too often.

Hmmm, and that dessert looked terribly yummy! Might be because I had the same last time we went!

We will be eating at AP and will definitely be ordering the Cedar Plank Salmon
The app and dessert made the meal worthwhile for me. Next time I am definitely going with the salmon!

It certainly wasn't all bad. I would go again. Maybe we should go together in October.

The next morning we we're up bright, but not-so-early due to my late night in MK. We hit the ASMu Intermission Food Court at peak time, about 9:00am. It was a madhouse! Yet another reason to get up early - when you go before 8:00am it's still relatively quiet and easy to get in and out of the resort food courts.

I had been disappointed by food court breakfasts in the past so I decided to try something other than the standard vareity platter I usually got. Mark stuck with the platter though - called a Bounty Platter on the menus:

This had scrambled eggs, a biscuit, a sauage link, bacon, potatoes, and French toast sticks.

I didn't taste this, but I can tell you how it is from past experience. Most of the food is lukewarm and has been sitting around for a while. The eggs are overcooked, the bacon is rubbery, the biscuit is dry....you get the idea. I would avoid this dish at the food courts.

Mark also had a NesCafe coffee...or what we like to call 'Nescrappe' here on the boards.

I decided to try a Western Omelet, which is served with Potatoes:

The omelet had diced ham, cheddar cheese, green peppers, and tomatoes. It was made fresh when I ordered it. I had to wait a while at the counter, but it was totally worth it to not have cold overcooked food. The omelet was done perfectly - fluffy, light and moist, but not runny.

The potatoes weren't that great. They have them just sitting around in a hot pan so they're kind of soggy and lukewarm.

I got two slices of marble rye bread I toasted. It was good to cut off some omelet and put it on the toast - a breakfast sandwich with my omelet. The bread was of a decent quality and not stale.

I also had a bottle of OJ. Unfortunately, Disney just stocks Minute Maid from concentrate. I would be willing to pay a little more for something better like Simply Orange. But the Minute Maid does the job well enough I suppose.

I really think the secret to getting a decent meal at the resort food courts is to order something they have to make fresh while you wait. Figuring this out has greatly improved my experience at breakfast!

Grade: C
