Solo WDW:Avoiding a Divorce when NDH Goes Hunting thru Bday and Anniversary Upd:1/14

Episode One: Just Like Magnets, Opposites Do Attract!!

Nope, you didn't misread the title. My husband actually dared to break the cardinal rule of marriage and will be away hunting during MY birthday and MY anniversary (I'll explain what that means in the next episode). I decided to launch this PTR while my hubby is off on another hunting trip. I have just dropped him off at the airport and now have a week to myself. I figured there wasn’t a better time than now to start writing. So, before I begin to tell you all about my saga, a.k.a “the drama” as I will refer to it, I need to introduce you to the cast.

Hi, I'm Jen!! I'm a 26-year-old wife, mother of two cats (no children, yet!), a high school biology teacher, and a youth sponsor at my church. It is safe to say that I love to work with children. I think that is because I'm still such a child at heart. Oh yeah, I'm also a Disney Nut (and yes, that is the technical term). I honestly believe I suffer from Disney OCD. You should see my binder! Oh wait, you will. I'm actually going to have an episode about my binder. LOL! I have been to Disney World three times, so this will be my fourth trip back. To say I love Disney is an understatement. I own Disney t-shirts, almost all of the Disney DVD's (and I have them alphabetized), the Disney Classics CD plays continuously in my car, and I truly believe I own every Disney trivia game ever created. I'm also one of those teachers (you know which ones I mean, the ones you gave funny titles in high school). At my school we have the Pirate teacher, the Frog Teacher, the Fishing teacher, and I am affectionately known as the Disney Teacher. The questions I must ask though…is it a bad thing that I'm very proud of my title and thoroughly embrace it?

This me, Jen!

Time to meet my co-star, the love of my life, my husband Phil. I must say it amuses me that on the DIS boards we refer to our hubbies at DHs. Well, mine is the ADH of the DIS boards. That stands for the anti-Disney husband. Okay, that might be a bit harsh. He'll have to settle for NDH, non-Disney hubby! Bless this man; he just doesn't get the pixie dust. Disney is just not his thing and he has tried it. He went with me on my last trip to Disney, and it was probably his final time. It is safe to say that our kids will be having mom and kid time at Disney. LOL! My husband is as outdoorsy as it gets. He loves college football and hockey. He is the ultimate hunter and fisher. When I decided it was time to watch my 2008 Disney Vacation DVD, he went to the other room and re-watched the Red Wings win the Stanley cup.

This is my hubby!

With respect to Disney, this is one true case of opposites attracting.

Well, thank you for taking out time to be a part of episode one!

Wow, were we separated at birth? You and I could be twins - except for the undeniable fact that I am 6 yrs older than you! Great job on the first chapter Jen - now I'm off to read the rest!

I only read your intro and I HAVE to keep tabs on you, I read about you... let me tell you about me...

Micki is my name, really it is, and yes I am the disney freak of the household, (how could I not be with a name like Micki?) I celebrate my 30th shhhhhhhhh birthday on Thursday,

My NDH (just like yours), Dan, will be off Goose hunting on my birthday, infact... we are from MN, and this weekend is always a long weekend, kids have it off for MEA(Minnesota Eduation Association?) I could be wrong on what it stands for but regardless the kids always have it off, wouldn't it be a PERFECT time for a FAMILY vacation? of course not LOL I did win ONE battle tho, I MADE him marry me... ok I didnt MAKE him, but we got married during Deer season... oh the comments from his hunting buddies, 11/11 is a VERY special number to us, and that was when we chose to get married, People don't realize how clever I was, yes I will probably ALWAYS spend it... alone LOL BUT He will NEVER forget it.... right?

Anywho, I am really excited to read about your trip report... off to check it out now!!!

LOL...as I read your report I die laughing over here! I have everything set for Jan. Sub, lesson plans...I teach computers so it is easy to leave stuff for a sub. Bundle activities for K1-2 together and 3-5 together YAY I lucked out and am staying at the BWV the first 4 nights and then the Dolphin for 2 nights. Jen do you know that the Swan and Dolphin offer teachers a lower rate? It might be sold out for your days, but it is a great rate when you can get it, and you stay at a Deluxe right between the HS and Epcot. You can walk to both!!! I love the Epcot resorts and stay there often!

Thank goodness I do not have a hunting husband,,,he is just a geek...lol

I am thrilled about the Photopass. I am hoping that I can find other ways to save some money down there! We rented a car too, and I used Priceline and got a midsize at $25 a day! I am thrilled!
