My name is Josh and I believe that I fit the description of a Dis Dad. My passion started back in 1997.
I got married and got a son in the process, he was 10 and had never been to Disney. I had been twice as a child (73 and 78) and liked Disney but thought Bush Gardens (Williamsburg)was better...
We went that week in 2010 and loved the low crowd levels. We plan to go that same week in 2013. Just came back this past Sunday and crowd levels were high, never been during spring break and won't again.
Light colored cotton t-shirts and shorts. You would never see me wear black shirts out on hot sunny day. Had a bathing suit once that had streaks of black on the legs and everywhere the black color touched my skin there was sunburn, black absorbs heat.
Don't let distance deter you from staying at this beautiful resort. The only problem we had was bus service to Downtown Disney but other resorts in the MK area have this problem. I wanted to stay at WL when we first stayed here but got a great deal on a savannah view room and it took the WL...
We stay deluxe when we can because we enjoy the atmosphere. We spend the afternoon at the resort and take advantage of the amenities and, for us, AKL is a vacation within a vacation.
You shouldn't have to go through security. We've flown in to the A side and come up a level to the main concourse (stores - Shopping), over, and then down to the B side transportation for ME.
Sorry but living on the Easter Shore I hate 13. Traffic lights every few miles down the peninsula. Worst part of my trip in August will be 13 through the podunk towns that get me off of this peninsula. Still better than going 50 into the heart of the beast (DC)
It won't stop me from staying at AKL, but I'm afraid they messed up the bus service when they built AKV. Haven't stayed at AKL since AKV was built but it use to have the best bus service, only one stop.
Going down 95 and stopping for BBQ, do so in NC. Anything else isn't BBQ and the heathen in SC will add mustard to the sauce. Just count me a very opinionated, misplaced North Carolinian.
Go with the AKL for the extra days, you won't regret it. The bus service is great, it just feels like a vacation within a vacation. We've stayed at AKL twice without a car and didn't miss it, but then again when I'm at Disney I like to let someone else worry about driving.
