We've had great success with Tusker House for breakfast; in fact, we have a reservation there for end of August. The menu is nothing special but its a good hearty breakfast, allows for a light lunch and you have the characters. Crystal Palace has a good breakfast at Magic Kingdom as well...

I would choose AKL - there is something to be said for the convenience of BLT for MK and Epcot (via Monorail) but there is nothing like waking up early in the morning and watching the animals before breakfast.
