Yep I was able to opt out. I have heard of others being denied, but for me they weren't super strict, it was pretty easy actually. I think it was because I requested it pretty early and assured them I'd be fully available and have no problems getting to work.

The queue is back to normal now. Looks like the test only lasted about 3 days. I'm kinda surprised how quickly they got the TV monitors, DJ stage, railings, etc out of there.

Yesterday (Wednesday) it rained all day pretty much non-stop.The day before it rained for about an hour or so, then was great the rest of the day. So yep, definitely the best advice is to keep an eye on the weather stations and see what "type" of rain it is :thumbsup2 .

I hit 3 of the 4 parks today (didn't make AK) and all were crowded, much much more than last week. Epcot seemed to be the least busy, although Fastpasses for TT and Soarin were gone by the afternoon... But yes MK was absolutely packed! Space Mountain had the longest (standby) lines of all rides...

Ahh yes...I've heard that you have to be verrry careful watching your speed while driving through there.

Are you planning on driving straight through or stopping halfway? I've done both (never alone, though) and I'm not sure if I'd make it all the way without stopping overnight around Georgia or so.

They used to play that clip on the Spaceship Earth ride, as you got close to the top in the "modern family" communication scene. However with the latest refurb this scene has been removed, unfortunately :sad1:
