Aside from theme parks, what are the other must do’s in Orlando?

Gatorland is a quintessential "Old Florida" roadside attraction...well worth a visit. Jungle Adventures in Christmas (about 40 miles from the Disney property) is another one. I would recommend the Orange County Regional History Center in downtown Orlando and then a walk around Lake Eola...

Does it cool down at night?

As a Florida resident for more than 35 years, I can safely say "no"...probably. It's not the heat that's the problem so much as the humidity. If you've been out all day you may feel less hot once the sun goes down but the humidity in June doesn't generally provide a lot of relief from the...

    Super Bowl in City Walk

Since it's being broadcast by NBC chances are the game will be shown on the giant screen at the NBC Sports Grill. Like with the Olympics, bleacher seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Any good hotels near camping world stadium

The area around the stadium is sketchy at best and dangerous at worst. I'm not even comfortable in the area during daylight hours. You would be better off looking for something in the Universal area (Major Blvd.) A short 10-15 drive to the stadium and infinitely safer.

    New Year City Walk 2014/2015

Fireworks, food, and a DJ. But as for a headliner concert, no. The CityWalk stage is gone.

Oh No! We leave Wednesday, and the weather looks horrible!

Relax. There's a 30-60% chance of rain every day in the summer here in Orlando. Remember, we're surrounded on 3 sides by water and when the warm air over land collides with the cool air off of the water storms happen. Usually, they're pretty scattershot. It's unusual for it to rain all day...

Restaurants on I-Drive around Convention Center?

For cheap AND family friendly you've got the standards close by the OCCC....Denny's, Bob Evans, Village Inn. Ale House is a local favorite with big portions at a good price. Just about everything in the convention center area is family friendly and some of the more moderately priced places are...

    Jungle Cruise question

Back when I was a Jungle Skipper (100 years ago, it seems) the script called for a silent ride through the temple. At the time, there were sound and lighting effects on the inside (and there may still be....I haven't ridden JC in about 7 years) and it was set up to be a counterpoint for the...

    Local school trips in May

Official grad events are over for the year...but if school groups are still coming the parks then early in the week is the best time to avoid them.

Is it worth it to take a 5 yr. old?

Spent a day at IOA with my cousin's family before HP opened and his 5 year old loved it. He loves dinosaurs so he would have been happy exploring the Jurassic Park area all day. I also had to ride the Flying Unicorn (now Flight of the Hippogriff) about 10 times...and he insisted that we both...

Extended Stay America-Orlando-Universal on Major Blvd

I stayed there for about a month when I was transitioning from cruise ships and looking for a house here in Orlando and it was a very pleasant stay. It's a no-frills place but all of the rooms were completely redone about 5 years ago so the rooms are clean and comfortable, the Universal parks...

    Question about Grad Nite..

There's usually a pre-party at some of the CityWalk clubs prior to the event...hot dogs and soft drinks are the usual menu...but once the kids are in the park they aren't allowed to leave until the event is over and security is very tight in that regard. Also, people under 21 aren't even...

    Close Busch Gardens Tampa hotels

Most of the hotels closest to Busch Gardens are in the Days Inn and Red Roof catagory. The closest Hyatt hotel to the park is Hyatt Place just north of the park on 30th Street. The closest Marriott hotel is Fairfield Inn in Brandon which is several miles away. Tampa is approximately 75...

Where to stay in Downtown Orlando?

Everyone is recommending hotels near the Disney property but I don't know if you want to stay that far away from downtown. If you're looking for a moderately priced hotel I would suggest splitting the difference and checking out the hotels near the Universal property off of Major Boulevard...

    Driving from Milwaukee???

I've done that trip a couple of times in the last few years...but never straight through! :scared1: I'd say that 21-24 hour time frame is reasonably accurate. Also remember to take into account the major bottlenecks along the route: Chicago, Nashville and Atlanta. And it's always nice to...

    N E 1 remember Circus World?

The whole history of Circus World is kind of interesting. Originally, it was to be called "The Living World of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey" and was to feature a "circus town" where parade wagons were built, a circus train, a wild west show, animal exhibits and a 10-story "elephant" with...
