My youngest daughter was 7 yrs old and went on everything and nothing was "too scary" for her other than she was a bit afraid of the heat from the "earthquake" on the tram (there is explosions and fire) because it was really hot near her. Otherwise, definitely depends on the individual chjld.

Yes, we took snacks, and bottled water into the park, and into Universal Studios. They check your bags when you enter DL and we were told water and snacks are okay, but they dont want you bringing glass bottled drinks, or mayo. HTH.
