    Why do parents do this

The first time we went to Disney out DDs were 6 and 8. They knew Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, etc. were just people in costumes. But they weren't so sure about the princesses! It was so much fun that year when they were still excited about meeting the characters. Now they are 13 and 15 and...

    Matching shirts thoughts?

We did matching shirts for 1 day of our vacation, not every day. We had a lot of fun making our own design (iron-on design we printed on the computer). And we got several compliments/comments from cast members when we wore them. I would want the hassle of planning a shirt for every day of our...

    Back to school backpacks..

I bought LL Bean backpacks for my two DDs three years ago, and they've been a wonderful bargain. Used to buy one every year for each of them. One is still fine and will be used again this coming school year. The other had a broken zipper and a small tear. Called LL Bean, they sent us an...

    Surprise Disney trip

We surprised our two DDs twice. The first time they were 8 and 10. I had just done a scavenger hunt at work, and they thought it sounded like a lot of fun. So once we booked our WDW trip, I decided to do a scavenger hunt at home the day before our trip. Since we had been talking about...

    So disgusted with Cable Company!!!

We are currently paying about the same as you. DH just called the other day to see what we can do to lower the price. At the end of next month we are going to drop the home phone (use our cell phones only instead) and go down to basic cable and internet (need internet for my job). We're...

    Maybe moving to Charlotte

Thanks for all the information. I have heard that the cost of colleges in NC is much lower than RI; that's something to consider since I have 2 teenager daughters. RI traffic is not the greatest either, so hopefully I could adjust to the traffic around Charlotte. My oldest daughter will just...

    Maybe moving to Charlotte

Yes, I do work for MetLife. Thanks, everyone, for all the information. We plan to take a trip down there sometime to look around, and it helps to have some areas in mind to look at.

    Maybe moving to Charlotte

So, my employer dropped a bombshell a couple of weeks ago and announced they are moving a lot of jobs to Charlotte, mine included. They will be doing it in phases, and my job won't be moving until 2015, but at some point I'll have to decide if I want to leave the company and take a severance...

    What to wear in December

Definitely dress in layers, and pack some warm clothes! We were there Dec 1 -7 2010, and it was cold! The day before we got there it was 85 degrees; the day we arrived it was in the 60's. They had a record low of 36 one night while we were there. Daytime temps varied from 50's to low 70's.

    Where is my luggage?

We've always had good experiences with ME. However, one time we did receive someone else's luggage in our room in addition to our own. We were staying at ASMo and the tags on the other people's luggage was for All Star Sports. I don't know how long the wrong luggage was in our room as we went...

    Pop Warner

We were there last December during Pop Warner. We stayed at POFQ and they weren't there; also didn't see any on by bus when we shared with POR, so I don't think they were staying there either. We saw some kids in the parks, but had no problems with any of them. The only problems we had with...

Anyone wish they did not surprise the kids

We've surprised our DD's on 2 out of the 4 trips we've taken, and they loved it! The first time we did a scavenger hunt the day before. After that they said they preferred to be surprised. Our last trip was last December. I wanted to tell them the morning we left, but DH couldn't wait that...

Dis Meet for New England/MA/Greater Boston

Another Rhode Islander here. I'm also willing to drive more than 5 miles - of course, I used to live in CA where they think nothing of driving a few hours to go someplace. DH and I would definitely be interested.

    Just back Tuesday night

Yes, the Christmas tree is up. We were at MK Monday and saw it. You will definitely need to pack warmer clothes. The forecast was for the 70's this coming Saturday and Sunday, but those were the only warm days in the next week or so.

    Just back Tuesday night

Just got back late last night. A few thoughts on our trip . . 1. Damn, it was cold!! We got there on Wednesday 12/1, went to Illuminations that night, and it was pretty cold. The next few days were okay. But Monday and Tuesday were cold! Record lows for Orlando - 36 degrees. MK was...

    Weather-How to pack smart?

We are arriving the same day (we're staying until 12/7) :cool1: and I was wondering the same thing! I plan on packing a few pairs of shorts and a few pairs of light-weight jeans, plus several short sleeve shirts and a couple of sweatshirts/fleece tops for at night. My DDs will the bringing...

    Just Surprised the Kids!

We told our DDs yesterday. We were going to keep it a secret until the day before (we're leaving on 12/1) but DH couldn't wait any longer. DD13 was excited, but DD10 didn't believe us at first! She got more excited once I convinced her we really were going. And this morning they were having...

    Question about surprise trips

The last time we went (in 2008) we told them the day before. We are going again this year (Dec 1) and don't plan on telling them until the day we leave! :cool1: We'll be waking them up a little early that morning, wait to make sure they're really awake, and then telling them! :goodvibes

    Jungle Cruise Jokes Question

My favorite was one I have only heard once, a few years ago at Disneyland. It was at the end of the ride as we were about to pull up to the dock. Several CM's were standing around, and 1 of them came over to tie up our boat. The skipper said: People often ask me how many people actually work...
