Mosquitoes in San Juan? Southern Caribbean?

Yep... kind of unnerving when they send out a specific email warning us about it for our upcoming Southern, but I've got the Off.

    Cruising with friends - ARGGG!!!

We cruised with friends a few years ago, pre-kids. I told them right up front that we didn't have to do everything together and to not plan anything together. My friend's mom and some of their other friends were also going. They booked early dining and we said we wanted late and personally we...

Help re: bringing alcohol on board

We're doing a Southern with 5 ports and I calculated that we can have 72 beers between my husband and me. Woohoo!! Party, party! :teleport:

    Photo Memory Books

I absolutely LOVE the memory book. We didn't really know much about it until a few days in, so we didn't necessarily have the pictures to go with the pages, but it really doesn't matter. We didn't get out at CC due to torrential rains the whole day and there is a section for that, but it...

    "Affording" DCL

We have been on 10 with number 11 coming up. We are by no means rich, but always seem to manage to get a pretty good deal. We just booked for the 7 day Southern Caribbean on the Wonder. 5 ports. For the 4 of us with an Oceanview, it will cost $2985!!! Could NOT pass it up. That was with...

    Internet at Sea

We are going on the Fantasy. We always used the computers on the Wonder and Magic, but it's been a few years and wondering if there are computers on the Fantasy or do you just use your phones or laptops or ipads?

    Beer prices on Wonder

I always bring beer. You can get a case at the last exit before port or really anywhere. I was talking to a guy on our ship and mentioned bringing the beer on board and he said he didn't know that and spent $106 for a case onboard. That was 3 years ago, so not sure now. It's really no big...

    Halloween Cruise Costume contest

Eh... I'm not going to stress about it. We'll find something to dress up as, but my mind goes a little crazy without having to worry about a costume!!! :rotfl2:

    Oct 18-25, 2014 Eastern Fantasy

Hi Everyone! Finally booked this cruise. It takes me forever to decide when to go. This is DCL #10 for my husband and I and the kids have been on a few and have loved them. I have a girl is who 9 and boy 6. I will have to read through the thread to see what other kids there are their age...

    New& very overwhelmed. :)

If it's any consolation, my 4 year olds loved the cruises. They aren't 4 any more or at the same time, haha, but both cruised when 4. It's so much easier too than doing the parks. they both loved the kids' clubs and seeing the characters. I say a cruise wins hands down. We love it.

    Nassau Question

We took a water taxi over to Atlantis. I love any type of boats so it was like a little mini-excursion. I think we did have a little walk once we got over there, but it was cheaper and more fun than a regular taxi.

A CRUISE? Cheapest way to "DO" Disney?

As others have mentioned, you may be better off with the inside rooms with 7 people. Ways to stay cheap once ON the cruise..... don't do the excursions. We have found that we can make our own fun at the ports without spending so much on the excursions. Try to limit souvenirs to 1 per child...

    Gty

Hmmm.... I know it's been two years since we booked a GTY, but the reason I would book one was because it was cheaper. Has it changed? I've been out of the loop for awhile. We would always book the lowest GTY and get a price break.

Renting a car at orlando airport

Yes, we usually rent a car too. It is a little higher since we drop off at a different place than we rented it, but still cheaper than the Dis Transport. ANd we always stop to get beer. That alone saves us about $100. As others mentioned, the lines for Budget are usually pretty long. You...

Tell me about Cruising in May on the Dream

We always try to cruise the end of April or beginning of May. The weather is just perfect. The rates are great. The water at Castaway Cay is warm. We've done March before and it was still chilly. I'm hoping to go next May too.

    Verizon Wireless on Disney Fantasy?

It's interesting, back in the day before smartphones, there was no roaming in St. Thomas. I always made a quick call from there. But as others have mentioned, be sure to call ahead of time and get the international plan. And also be careful if you see bars on your phone. I know when we were...

Best marker pen to use for Pillowcase Autographs?

Hmm... It's been a couple of years, but I think when we dropped it off for them to sign they just used their own markers. I don't remember bringing markers with us. My daughter loved it.

Castaway Cay: How's the water temp?

We did a double dip one year in May. The first time we hit CC, it was awesome and tons of people in the water. A few days later when we went back, it was a little windy, the water was stirring up seaweed, and hardly anyone was in the water because it was chilly. You never know!!

Delta changed my flight! Can I still make it to the airport?

I would say no problem, but we have also gotten stuck in a long line at the rental car place. If you aren't going to MCO you will probably have no issues. We once took the Disney transport back to MCO with late breakfast and got their early enough to catch an earlier 10:30 flight home!
