Wait at border crossings (heading to Buffalo airport)

Heya, We're heading to Buffalo on a Saturday in December, to stay over (Homewood Suites Buffalo Airport) before a 7am (!!) Sunday flight. Any educated guesses as to anticipated wait times at the border, and which bridge(s) we should be considering? I'm game to leave as early in the day as...

Sheration Gatway Hotel At Pearson: A Good Idea

I've stayed there a couple of times including on our wedding night before a morning transatlantic flight (8 years ago), so yes, I think highly of the idea :-) Glad to hear you were able to get a decent rate -- the last few times I've searched, I've seen rates of $250-$300+. Maybe they've...

Flying from Buffalo - recommended hotels?

I've stayed at both within the last year, and vastly prefer the Homewood Suites. (We first stayed at the Homewood Suites based on a DISer's recommendation, and have returned a couple of times, as have other family members. Great value for nicely furnished and modern rooms, decent pool, good...

    Kennedy Space Centre with toddlers?

Just a very belated update as my family is pondering the intersection of WDW & KSC plans once again... My DH did in fact decide to go by himself the first day. He ended up buying a bounce-back ticket, and insisted on taking the kids (then 2.5yo) the next day. My Dad went along, however, and...

    December 2007...who's going?

Nope, haven't told them yet. We'd have months of "when are we going to WDW? Is the trip next week?" ad naseum for weeks, probably, in stereo definitely! So, we're planning to tell them the week before, on their birthday. I scored a couple of very cheap Toy Story beanies, so we'll wrap those...

How to get the best exchange rate conversion?

We just use our President's Choice Mastercard for as much as possible, and a relative's bank employee rate for large cash 'purchases' if we plan ahead enough. (If it's last minute, whatever the cash exchange rate is at CIBC, over the counter....)

    Dollar Just hit 97 cents!!!!

Ooh, thanks v. much! It looks like my strategy of hanging on as long as possible (without losing my ressie, of course!) is a good one.:goodvibes Not sure it's so good for the economy overall, but the jury's still out on that ....

    Dollar Just hit 97 cents!!!!

The only quandry that this high dollar poses for me, is *when* to tell Disney to charge our credit cards with the balance of our packages. We were planning on doing it in mid-October (must pay in full by Oct 25). If it seems likely that the Cdn dollar will keep climbing, I'll hold off until...

Is there anyone here who uses the Disney resorts but doesn't visit Disney World?

My DH inadvertantly spent more time in the room than the parks or restaurants on our first big family trip, because of unanticipated work demands (small IT business + only one programmer = WORK!). I'm subbing to the thread now because Dh is coming on our December birthday trip even though he...

Major SWA Boarding announcement coming tomorrow (9/19)

Thanks, Melrosfan and disneyfan -- 24 hours prior to our flight, we'll likely be at Epcot, so I'll swing by Guest Relations (or have DH do it from our room, if he's hanging out there. IIRC, the CR rooms all have internet access?). Hopefully, we'll all get numbers relatively close to one another...

Major SWA Boarding announcement coming tomorrow (9/19)

re: the new boarding system: Sounds to me as if the groups for pre-boarding are okay, but I wonder whether pre-boarding sandwiched between A and B will work as Speaking of check-in for SWA, can anyone confirm how early the SWA site will let me check in (and get my boarding letter+number)? I...

When to arrive at BUF airport on a Sunday morning?

Hi all, x-posted to transportation and Canadian boards I hope this isn't a repeat question (if so, my apologies - I'm happy to be refered to an earlier thread). The good news: we've got the first direct flight to MCO on SWA on a Sunday. The bad news: It departs at 7am. I can't...

    Donald's Breakfastosaurus

Our experience in Sept a couple of years ago was similar - we had an early reservation, for a group of 9. We liked having the park empty when we went in, and to have a jump on the day in the park when we left. However, the best part for me was Donald!, the worst was the food. Even though I'm...

Can I ask what you paid???

We flew down last Christmas on USAir, since they had the best peak season rate I could find. I honestly didn't notice much difference between that experience, and on SWA. The only PITA was booking the seats in advance, actually, since we had a group of nine - it took about 45 minutes (mostly on...

    Pop Century vs. moderate

Hmm, in my experience, the kids will be happy at either place. There may be more of a "wow" factor for them at Pop. It's the adults who may appreciate the moderate, over the value. The moderates will likely be quieter, with more services (sit down restaurant, 24hr bell services, more/better...

Can I ask what you paid???

I haven't flown at March break, but I did a lot of looking at Christmas/December holiday flights which are also high season. In short: mid/late December fares for ~$230US / under $300Cdn last year, *early* December fares for $190US / $210Cdn this year (Those same early December fares have...

    Possible new December 2007 Discounts?

That's one of the 'current' codes out for Nov/Dec bookings. There's one for room only rates, and one for MYW plus dining, I think. Details at mousesavers.com under Disney resorts....
