    Giants Win Superbowl

I hear that. I'm so sick of seeing that band of grumpy old farts. The game has advanced so much since '72. I bet this year's Miami Dolphins could beat the '72 Dolphins.

What exactly does this have to do with budgets?:confused3

    Worst Recession since WWII?

I will say, that I remember scare stories from the mid-90's that the savings rate was at its lowest point since the Great Depression. At the time they also talked about consumer credit card debt was at record levels. Somehow 13 years later we are still chugging along. Even after a major...

Wonderful trip thanks to NOT using ME!

I don't really care if the owners decide to ban the name of every commercial company that operates in or around Disney World. My point is stop jumping down the throat of every poster who may be innocently mentioning names from some secret banned list by following up with a disparaging post...

Tell me about your Dollar rental experiences.

I always rent from Dollar. When I pick up the car they go over the usual stuff that every rental company goes over, including trying to get you to buy additional insurance. I had a friend who worked for Enterprise after college and they would get a bonus for every policy they were able to sell...

    Worst Recession since WWII?

I'll second that observation for the Northern Mass, Southern NH area. I made the mistake of driving too close to the malls one day a week or two before Christmas, and paid for it by being stuck in traffic for an hour and a half to go 2 miles. Still an hour wait to eat at an Olive Garden. This...

    Worst Recession since WWII?

The worst economic times since the Great Depression were in the decade known as the 70's. (Remember 14% mortgage interest rates?) And I recall a little amusement park being built in central Florida during that time. In fact even as we finally got out of the recession by 1982, I recall a...

    Bad/Obnoxious ME driver

We'll just have to agree to disagree and be glad that we do not have to share the moments of the day in each other's company.

Wonderful trip thanks to NOT using ME!

I've never seen so many people getting their panties in a twist as I have lately about this so-called "banned company". Those of us not in the know have to take the word of people like Lewis here that the "conduct was so egregious". Most of us do not know who this company is, or what that...

    Bad/Obnoxious ME driver

Sheesh! I can see it now: "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay..." "Shut up and get us to the airport in one piece you obnoxious jerk!" I'll say it again. I don't know how these folks working for Disney are not burned out by dealing with people day after day. If we get "Mr. Bluebird on...

Senate Finance committee approves $157B Economic Stimulus Pkg

Bah. Only a socialist would believe that. Love of money is what spurs innovation and increases our standard of living. I enjoy the fact that there is always more to be made. We are lucky to live in a country where anyone who has the ambition and desire can set limitless goals and achieve...

Senate Finance committee approves $157B Economic Stimulus Pkg

There are probably more 6-figure income families on the DIS than almost any other online forum. I make just shy of 6 figures and my wife is a SAHM. But I work with a lot of people who have both spouses working so they make close to $200,000 a year and live in their McMansions. I'm the poor...

Senate Finance committee approves $157B Economic Stimulus Pkg

It's not a benefit. It is a tax rebate. If you pay tax you should get the rebate. It's a one-time stimulus designed to quickly get more money into the economy. I work with a few non-citizens who are here on work visas who probably pay a heck of a lot of income tax.

Well, you just proved that I was wrong that everyone was fine with legal workers getting the rebate. Your thinking makes no sense.

Senate Finance committee approves $157B Economic Stimulus Pkg

Not sure why you are being so antagonistic with this. I think everyone agrees that if you are a legal worker in this country paying income taxes, you should qualify to get the rebate regardless of whether you are an American citizen or not.

Can you get back a bigger tax refund then you paid in??

The thinking usually goes, things people might buy as necessities end up costing a poor family a greater percentage of their wealth than a rich family. Even though they may not buy the same class of things.
