Do WDW vacations help with toddler development?

We travel a lot w/ kids at varying ages. Without fail, when we have a toddler or young preschooler they always hit some kind of milestone or leap. Language explodes, etc. I think it's a week plus of family time w/ mom & dad that are the key not so much Disney. It's happened in Europe, the beach...

    Grand Californian Super Thread

I've read mixed info on this - if we are staying in the villas on points, do we pay for parking at the Grand? We are not owners, but are staying on points not through Disney.

    Stroller Strategies, Generally

Is it the baby jogger city mini double? If so, bring it. It's like the most popular stroller at disney. You can take it on the bus, through most of the pavilions in world showcase. I agree w/ the comments on restaurants above.

    Airports and strollers

This exactly. We love it and it was no big deal to travel with.

    What would you do??

For shorter domestic flights, I prefer an early AM flight. This September we have a 7a flight and we plan on eating lunch, swimming and heading over to downtown disney. Longer flights or international travel we usually do early evening.

    Carseats

I would never rent a seat - besides not knowing it's history, I've heard too many stories about the right seat not being available, being expired, not having manuals, etc. I'd rather have my seat that I know are fine and that I know how to install. We do have a bubble bum and a cosco scenera...

Has anyone ever pulled this off? Ditching DH? LOL

I realize there are plenty of reasons it might work out that way - but in the OP's situation it seemed he wanted to go and doesn't want to miss out. That's not the same as it working out that way because of work or preference. He does sound hard to travel w/, which is why I said a little give...

Bus or rental car with 9 month old

We never rent a car for Disney and have few to zero issues. We baby wear and bring a stroller. Waaaay easier to just hop on a bus.

Has anyone ever pulled this off? Ditching DH? LOL

It amazes me that 2 people can be married, have a child, etc. and can't figure out how to take a family vacation together where everyone can be happy. But, I also can't imagine taking a vacation w/ all of my kids w/o my H b/c he's a "pain." Looks like a little give and take is in order on both...

    Disney with kids under 2

While I haven't been to Disney at that age - my 2 older kids have each done a trip to Europe around that age. Really, it's not a huge deal. Don't over pack, 1 small backpack for any special toys/books/coloring. Lots of favorite snacks. Don't over think it. Plan of the worst but expect the best...

    Car seat concerns

I would not rent seats. You have no idea if they've been in a car accident previously. I've heard plenty of horror stories where the manuals are missing from the seats, the seats are expired, the right seat isn't available, etc. Much safer to just bring your own and you will know how to install...

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party/Dining Dilemma

Unless something has changed this year, your party tickets get you into the MK at 4! So if you are there early and book it to the castle I guess you'd be okay?

Candlelight processional with four year old

Our 3 year old went and was fine. She is used to going to church, though. I think it's ridiculous to let a child, regardless of age, use an electronic device during a performance, but I know that's probably an unpopular opinion.

Crazy to bring 2 year old and 4 month old?

Yep, easy, the 4 month old anyway! I've taken a 4 month old and a 3 year old and will be taking a 5 month old this fall along with a 6 & 3 year old. Babies that don't move & don't eat real food are super easy to travel with. I just did a lot of baby wearing, nursed all over and took breaks as...

What to do about a nap??

There's always a chance your room will be ready. If not, I'd go get a bite to eat somewhere and try walking him around the board walk recline in the stroller at nap time. If you can get him to sleep, there are plenty of little alcoves, benches, etc. in the resort vicinity to sit down for a bit...
