Please vote: Warm enough to swim at resorts end of Oct/Beginnng of Nov??

DS14 and I went a couple of years ago on Thanksgiving and we were swimming in the pool that night (we're from San Francisco) but my sister and her two daughters thought we were crazy (they are from Houston). I think it just depends on where you are from and the temps you are used to. On the...

    .

We stayed at the Hilton Pointe at Squaw Peak in June. All the rooms are suites, we had 2 double beds in the bedroom and a pull out sofa in the living room. Lots of room, plus a small refrigerator and sink (no microwave, that I remember). But the best part was the water park on site. It had a...

    Paris travel help -VOTE

ITA with this. When we were in Paris we had one day left and asked the kids (1 10 yr old girl, 1 9 yr old boy and 1 10 yr old boy) if they wanted to go to Disney or spend another day in the city. Hands down, they all voted to skip Disney. HTH :flower: Deb

    Stingray City with Native Way

Another vote for Nativeway. They were great! The van was almost full when we were leaving to go back to Georgetown so Sharon (the owner) took us in her SUV. She dropped 2 of us off at 7 mile beach and then had a little time until she had to get the next group so she asked us if we wanted to...

WOW, the Amazing Race as evolved quite a bit from the beginning!

I really wanted Oswald and Danny to win this time too LOL. I didn't remember that they came in fourth, I thought they had been eliminated before then. They are so great! I think this was my favorite season of Amazing Race, though after Team Cha Cha Cha was gone, I really didn't care who won...

    Vacationing in Europe

DS14 and I went to Paris a couple of years ago and did not encounter any rude people. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to go back. I think it helps to learn a few key phrases in any country you visit where English isn't the primary language. It never hurts to know "please" and "thank...

Where should I rent a truck from for Moving?

I just moved from No California to Arizona and used a company called ABF/Upack. They were great! I had originally reserved a truck from Penske (would never use Uhaul) but I would have to pack the truck, pay for the gas and drive it the 800 miles with just me and DS14 (plus ship my car, which...

    What a big difference!

We had a "lower end" D2 balcony on Explorer and it was just about the same size as our Cat 6 on Disney...not sure if the Disney dimensions include the balcony and the RCCL ones do not (I did see this comparison on an early thread and remember it only being a 5' or so difference, not much when...

I love my Tweezerman's too and have had them for about 10 years. Can't believe I haven't lost them in all this time!

Happy parent of an only child?

You betcha! I only wanted one child, a boy, and that's what I got. Can't imagine having to spend my time with more than one. It's great for those that can/do but for us, one is enough. :earboy2:

Bags in room or hallway on sailaway day

We were not in our room and they left them inside. Maybe it just depends on who delivers them or whether the room steward was nearby and the door open. :confused3

Just got back from a cruise with Royal Caribbean

This was our experience with RCCL too. DS14 and I had a great time on Explorer of the Seas. We had a verandah room for $1000 less than the Cat 11 we had reserved on DCL, same week, same itinerary. I also like that RCCL has computer access in your room (for a fee) and interactive TV, where you...

Does your child decide their hairstyle?

DS14 has chosen his hair style for awhile. Back when he was 10 he decided he wanted long hair so I let him grow it. He had it that way for about 9 months then got tired of it. People would always ask me why I let him have long hair but like you, I'll pick the battles and hair just isn't one...

    Looking for Amazing Race ideas!

I did an Amazing Race theme for my son's 13th birthday. We went to 13 different places and I had 13ish items waiting at each stop (a Target gift card for $13, a trip to the bank and $13, etc. though not all things were 13). I went to a stationary store and bought bright yellow letter size...

Where is the thread about what books everyone is reading?

I'm reading a Janet Evanovich book that is not part of the Plum series but is new called "Metro Girl". It's along the lines of Stephanie Plum in that it's a mystery and I'm really enjoying it. It was published in 2004 and in the new books section of the library. Deb

Help:Auto Insurance when DS goes to College

You should be able to have him rated as "away at school without a vehicle". This should give him the same rate as a married male, which is much lower than as a young male driver. That way he can drive your car when he comes home for holidays and still have coverage, plus as someone else said...
