Summer vacations - other than WDW :)

Downtown Toronto is a great place to spend a couple of nights. We live in the GTA but like to spend a night or two downtown during the summer. Niagara Falls is always fun, too. Last year we spent a week in Montreal, which we enjoyed. A few years ago we went to Chicago and had a blast. At...

Canjet - Flights To MCO - Questions

I saw this on the Canjet website and am wondering about this: Do they mean that the 2 checked bags together must not exceed 44 lbs e.g. if one bag weighs 20 lbs, the other cannot weigh more than 24 lbs?? Ugh...at least we're flying Canjet one way only, we are returning via Westjet.

Family Day! What are you doing?

We are going to Niagara Falls with my SIL & her family. We went together last year and our kids all had such a blast that for this past Christmas, we suggested that instead of the adults exchanging gifts, our "family gift" would be to meet up in NF on Family Day. We are once again staying at...

Do you let the kids eat in the car???

My kids are allowed to eat some kinds of snacks in the car like crackers, chips, that kind of thing. Vacuuming the crumbs isn't a big deal. They also eat stuff like apple slices and grapes in the car. Sticky, drippy foods are forbidden, so all ice cream, chocolate, etc. must be consumed or...

    Fallsview Indoor Waterpark Niagara

We went to Fallsview for a night over the Family Day weekend. We stayed at the Skyline Inn and had a connecting room with my SIL & her family. My kids are DD9 and DS6, and DNephew is 9. The kids had a BLAST at the water park! There are 6 or 8 (can't remember exactly) "big" slides and DS6...

    Bath time?

[ And, regardless of how "sweaty" or not your child might get, just remember all the germs and general yuckiness of WDW (if she's potty trained, sitting on the toilets, etc.). I'd not be satisfied just washing hands...I'd NEED my kids to bathe, as they touch everything, then touch their face...

    universal tickets....

I just checked the CAA website. It shows the price of a 2 park/7 day ticket as $102.66. I bought our Universal tickets online through CAA on the 18th, one day after the $99 deal ended. Give CAA a go! We have gone to Disney every year with the kids, and this March will be their first-ever...

    Cost of your flight.

We are flying SW BUF-MCO over March Break. For the 4 of us, it was just under $1400, all in. The cheapest I was able to find out of YYZ was about double that price.

How far in advance do you send your kids birthday invitations?

Both my kids have birthdays in June. I send out invitations about 3 weeks beforehand with a request to RSVP one week before the party. That gives me a few days to track down those people who were invited but have not yet responded, so that I have a better idea of the actual number of guests...

    Where to find Piglet

We were in WDW in March, and for me, no visit to MK is complete without a meal at Crystal Palace! They were completely booked every time we called, but on the day we went to MK we decided to give it a go and headed to CP around 3:30 or 3:45. They took down our names, and we were called in...

how much luggage does your 4 person family take?

For myself, DH, DD8 and DS5, we check 2 large suitcases. We also each have a carryon, usually a small backpack or bag for each of us: mine & DH's contain our documents & snacks/water bottles, while the kids carry their "activities" i.e. books, pens, DS or Gameboy, etc. We do laundry partway...

    Which park would be better

I had forgotten about the previous night's PM EMH! Thanks for the replies, we'll try DHS on the Sunday and just hope for not-super-crazy crowds.

    Which park would be better

We are less than 3 weeks away from leaving the snow & cold and going to DISNEY :cool1: So I thought I'd better start making some plans. I've been looking at Touring Plans for Sunday, March 15. Crowd levels are 6 and it says the parks to avoid are MK or HS. Naturally, what I'm trying to...

Which days would be better for MK & DHS?

We will be at DW for a few days prior to going on a 3 day DCL cruise (hurray for the kids sail free promo!). I have been looking at the park hours and am thinking of doing the following: MK on Sunday March 15 - This is an evening EMH day for MK. Would it likely be busier just later in the...

    6:30am Flights BAD IDEA!

Off topic, but I feel so much better now because I did the EXACT SAME THING with my son's passport. Except we were travelling to Paris from Toronto, and it was rush hour, and there was no way we could get back home in time to pick up the passport & make the original flight. My brother ended up...

    HGVC SeaWorld or Gaylord Palms??

We will be in arriving in Orlando at close to midnight, so the first night we are staying at the MCO Hyatt. The next 5 days we will be at a condo in Windsor Hills, followed by 3 nights on the Disney Wonder. After the cruise we have another 2 days before flying out, and I am trying to decide...

Feeling sad...my "baby" is in school full days

I knew I wouldn't be the only "sappy mom", but it's reassuring to see it all in black & white LOL. I know when both my kids are in school full time in the fall, it will be an adjustment - probably more for me than for them. I do like that I will be more available to help out at school - and...

Feeling sad...my "baby" is in school full days

My DS5 will be in school full days 2 days a week starting today and the rest of the week he will continue to be in mornings only. This schedule works very well for us, as I have a couple of days to really get things done without rushing around and he gets to transition into full days, every day...

    Disney Area Vacation Homes (DAVH)

I have rented condos before without any problems, but this time we are going with extended family & since I suggested Windsor Hills (renting a 4 bdrm villa), I feel "responsible" for making sure everything goes smoothly. janeprice, the information you provided is very useful to know. Thank...
