Yup. I'm an IT Program Manager. You can totally do this. Universities do it all the time because we have massive surge in web traffic on certain days/moments (in particular, the moment that everybody can find out whether they got in).

Good point. Though also I wonder what the internal costs/inconveniences are when things go THIS badly, and they have to simultaneously deploy surge capacity and focus all their social media on this. And right after the medals embarrassment.

runDisney IT really should be lurking in this thread, gathering info on Guest dissatisfaction, to argue for better funding for IT infrastructure surge capacity.
