Does anybody else find this ridiculous?

All the rides in that section of DCA are slow, boring and over before you are strapped in. They were the biggest shock on our trip. We loved just about everything we did in the main park, and thought GRR, TOT and Soarin the best 3 rides we'd done. But when we did those rides we couldn't...

    Charactor Breakfast at Plaza Inn

That's what I would do - and have a good meal at Blue Bayou. Now that was good food and a good experience as well.

    Tropicana Inn or Hojo?

We stayed at HoJo and loved it. It's about 15 minutes from the front gate so that might be just a little far for a midday nap, as it would be half an hour plus however far you have to walk in the park to do a round trip. But it's a lovely well-run hotel, the pool area is very good - decent...

    Luggage on Eurostar

There's not a lot of room on Eurostar for big cases. The overhead racks will hold small cases, but to get big cases in you need to get to the front of the line and get your case in the racks at the end of each carriage before they fill up. (they only hold about 6 cases) If you are too...

    Charactor Breakfast at Plaza Inn

If you are more interested in the food than the characters I would NOT go to the character breakfast. We loved it because our girls had such a great time with the characters, but the food was ordinary, and if you weren't paying extra for characters, it was quite expensive just for breakfast.

How Bad Is It Really From LAX....

We arrived about lunchtime on a wednesday and went with supershuttle. It took about 45 mins from airport to Anaheim, but then the shuttle went to 4 other hotels before ours (HoJo). But all the hotels were close to each other. There was no traffic, and even though we were at the end of the...

    Embarrassing Moments at DL?

Our youngest daughter has a very vivid imagination and after some well meaning website warned us Snow White might frighten little kidswe warned her it might be a bit spooky. So she did the entire ride with her head buried in her jacket and refused to look up even once. The CM though it was...

Your top ten hints to share with a newbie

Here are the things we got the most benefit out of. - December is a great time to visit but it gets VERY cold as soon as the sun goes down. To get the most out of the day and not have to race back to your hotel for coats (as I did) take coats with you in the morning and stow them in the...

Does Disneyland Lose "The Magic" As an Adult?

The very first time I went to Disneyland I was 41 and it's still the single best thing I've ever done. I was there with my 2 daughters, and I'm sure that heightened the experience, sharing the magic with them, but I was still bowled over by just how wonderfull it was.

    Christmas Time Question

We went in the first week of December 2004 and we had an amazing time. Crowds were non-existent mid-week and we walked straight on to Splash and Pirates, and no queue was more than 10 minutes. Only on the weekend did the crowds pick up, but even then no ride was more than half an hour...

    HOJO's?

Yes, if your question is asking "what is HoJo short for?" the answer is the "Howard Johnson Anaheim". It's a great moderately priced hotel right outside the park, and about a 10 minute walk from the entrance. A great option if you want a nice hotel but can't afford to stay on a Disney...

    Gluten Free

My wife is celiac and we found no major problems. A good tip was the turkey legs from the carts which were huge and tasty. We found there was a general awareness of the problem, and solutions offered in the meals. We ate in Blue Bayou and the chef came out personally to discuss the GF meal...

    HoJo for $80 p/n - good?

The HoJo is a superb, safe, clean medium rating hotel a short walke from the parks, and that price is good. 2 Years ago we paid around $79 per night for a Disney view room in the tower, but that was in a very quiet period of mid-december. we got that discount through the mousesavers site. So...

When to go to avoid heat/crowds?

We went in the first week of December, mid-week, and it was just perfect. Crowds were non-existent (straight on to Pirates, Splash, short wait for Indy etc) the place was decorated for Christmas, which was just magical, and the weather was perfect. It was mild in the day - tee-shirts some...

What is Halloween like at DLP? Are the queues bad?

We, coincidentally, were there on the first day of the halloween makeover and found crowds non-existent. We went on a Friday, out of holidays, and it didn't appear to us that anyone was there just for halloween, so I'm guessing that unless you go on a weekend or during school holidays, there...

Desperate UK Bloke on 1st Family trip seeks friendly US advice for perfect trip!

To follow up on a few of your additional points: 1..We stayed in the Yosemite Valley Lodge and we had a great time. Accommodation is basic, but clean. It's quite a drive into the Park each day from the outside accommodation so if you can get accommidation inside take it. We went in December...

HoJo's, Fairfield Inn or Ramada Maingate?

Another vote for hojo - we loved it. Nice, clean, big rooms, great staff, and a great pool for the kids. It was also a very short walk to the park - 10 minutes maximum. Security was also evident and very reassuring. The only drawback was trhere was no restaurant on site or breakfast...

Desperate UK Bloke on 1st Family trip seeks friendly US advice for perfect trip!

Hi Hornetboy. Australian family here who did something very similar to you 2 1/2 years ago (and dad is originally from Manchester UK BTW). Unless it's too late, I would change your schedule to have a a bit more time in SF. It's a great city, and needs more than 2 days to see properly...

    Paris?

We were in Paris last year with 2 children and the most exciting thing they did was the Eiffel Tower. It's free to walk up the first 2 levels, and if you take the lift, also cheap to do only the first 2 levels rather than the top, but the view from the middle level are, in many respects...

DLP in a day from Paris - a long Trip report

Unlike many here, our visit to DLP wasn't the main purpose of our holiday - we are Australians on a month long holiday to Europe, and could only fit in DLP as a day trip to reward the kids for the long days of travel they'd endured. We'd had the holiday of our lives at the original Disneyland...
