    Electric Cars

Yep. Someone has been listening to misinformation. While it is true you lose range in extreme cold a figure of 30-40% loss of range is considered high. In Iowa I lose about 20%. I got an extended range battery for just that reason. Even in the cold I have adequate range. It does not become...

    Electric Cars

I have a non-Tesla EV and love it. I agree that it fits best here in the US with residents who have access to home charging. I have no problem with the occasional road trip in it. It takes an adjustment as it requires more time on the road trip, more than offset in my case by never having to...

Do you prefer cash or card in the parks?

Wow! I am out of touch. I always carry cash. I rarely use it. I lived in SoCal for many years and was bombarded with messages to have cash in case ATMs went down with a big earthquake. I also got caught on an extended trip in Venice when my ATM card expired (the replacement hadn’t come before...

So annoyed by Magic Band +

I’ve had APs for the last many years. I keep reusing my old MBs. They work great for tapping in at the entrances and LLs. I don’t care about my photos, I can still get plenty with my phone’s Bluetooth turned on. I don’t stay onsite so I don’t need it to open my hotel door. I don’t mind pulling...

I always carry cash but try to pay with everything with a CC. Cash is a back up if a computer is down, CC gets lost or stolen, etc. I want to be able to get through my day with a minimum of disruption if that happens. I don’t want to have to trek back to the hotel to get a new card and lose my...

    Reusing Old Magic Bands

My understanding is that they don’t keep fingerprints indefinitely, pretty much only for the current ticket/trip plus a little while. DH and I accidentally switched bands on the last trip. CM caught it because I don’t look like a male-named person and he doesn’t look like a female-named...

Disney after hours vs Deluxe extended hours

Yes. The evening queue drops at 6 pm Eastern.

    Moana - Journey of Water

DH and I, in our 60s, both enjoyed it. The little kids were ecstatic.

Help! Grandparents trying to plan a family WDW adventure and overwhelmed!

With that large a group you might think about using a travel agent. Several specialize in WDW travel. I’ve never used one so can’t give a specific recommendation. I would think they could walk you through the ins and outs of WDW parks if you aren’t familiar with them. It has become pretty...

    travel insurance for the year

A single trip was less expensive, $90 vs.$250 for us. We are in good health so didn’t feel the need for more coverage. We have three trips planned this year. Plus will likely visit the DD in Canada. BTW, we are on Medicare with Part G so this is a foreign countries only policy. Not sure...

    travel insurance for the year

There is no ”travel” insurance only medical on this particular policy. I know they offer one with travel insurance benefits but I’m not sure on whether it is primary or secondary. The policy does require the policyholder have a primary medical policy which is met by Medicare. We have Part G...

What household chore do dread the most?

Cleaning toilets. I hate it with a passion.

    travel insurance for the year

Yep. The deductible and policy limits are generally cumulative over the life of the policy—one year.

    travel insurance for the year

I just bought an annual plan through GeoBlue. It is a secondary plan, but they will process the claims and look to the primary to collect. It covers an unlimited number of trips but there is a limit on the duration of an individual trip. This is a medical only plan IIRC. We bought the more...

‘Flordia Special’ 1 bedroom villas at Bay Lake Tower

TJMaxx and Marshall’s sometimes have the dry shampoo in a spray can—Baptiste is the brand. People watching on a vacay can be entertaining. Hope you enjoy your trip despite your limitations.

Anyone use Travelocity for car rental?

I always use Costco for car rental. Extra driver for free is a valuable perk for me. And the rates are great.

    What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Had a pared down seafood boil—shrimp, potatoes and kielbasa.

    Would you get a MB+?

I guess I’m a curmudgeon. I hate seeing the MB+s light up during shows at WDW. It is so distracting. I really wish we could have a world without that (or people using their phones in the dark around other people).

what is the worst fall you have ever had?

Slipped on a stair and rolled my ankle—a week before a cruise! It’s very disconcerting to see your foot in roughly a 90 degree angle to your leg. Used a boot through departure, got a wheelchair transfer between airplanes at Heathrow, and was good without a boot from then on.

    Handbag?

Another vote for a cross body bag. Look at travel bags. They tend to be lighter weight with nylon options. I have a PacSafe with expanding side pockets for bottles of water, pop, etc and a Travelon that is smaller. Both have safety features which are admittedly more necessary on travels other...
