Prices keep dropping and probably will continue to do so, so keep checking. I have 2-9 day ressies with Budget through Costco. One is for a standard car for $249 and the other is for an intermediate SUV for $278. If the price difference remains within $30, I'll go SUV.

I have a trip where I come in at 10 AM and leave 10 days later at 5:00 PM. Is it better for me to book a rental car with those times, or go 10 AM to 10 AM and have them charge me the overage? I think I know the answer, but was just wondering if anyone had any firsthand experience.

Booked a compact for $229 and an intermediate SUV for $265 with Alamo through Costco website for 12/28-1/5. Was amazed at how low the prices were there, especially considering it was for 8 days and one-way (MCO to TPA).

Sorry, my bad. I took those people previously to be saying they got lucky with an upgrade, not to expect one. And you are correct that expect to get what you booked, if they have them available, and if they don't and you expected more, that's on you.

So...have other car companies given you a free upgrade to a full size car when they did have a standard car, that you booked, available? Otherwise I'm not seeing the problem here, as Alamo would definitely give you a free upgrade to a full size if they didn't have a standard car available...

They offer standard cars to be booked. How can they not have a standard aisle? I booked a midsize but I'll check/ask when I'm down there on Monday.

So wait. Did they have standard cars available or not when you arrived? If they were out, they should have given you a size up at no extra charge. If they had them, they were under no obligation to give you a size up for free.

When the kids were younger, I would help DW with the luggage, go get the car, and then bring it outside the luggage area, and then we'd load everyone and everything in.

Advantage was $22 cheaper than Alamo (using Costco code) for me. Not worth the lower price for the potential hassle.
