    Hurricane Matthew vs HHI....

I have been an owner at HH for many years and have visited several times during that period. To me, it seems obvious that many of the comments on this thread are being made by people who are neither familiar with the island, the geography, and the Disney resort at Hilton Head. I also have had...

    PGA tour at HH

I concur with all the PP. We were there during the tournament and, other than some congestion around the Sea Pines Circle a couple days, you would not have even known the tournament was there in terms of crowds, etc. as long as you stayed in the Shelter Cove, Palmetto Dunes, and more northerly...

    DVC Paperwork snafu?

Just to reiterate, I think you can be sure that not only is the paperwork legally correct, it also an accurate depiction of the transaction. Contrary to the statements in the original post, it is NOT unusual in real estate transactions to have the HUD disclosure differ in some ways from the...

Can this be done and is it Totally Sleazy

This has not been our experience. In fact, they try to AVOID allowing intraparty swaps of tickets (we have run into this) as this is actually one way to game the system that they are very much aware of (I won't go into details, but I assure you that you can game the system though we have been...

Hilton Head at Christmas. A day by day trip report.

We get to HH from WDW this afternoon (we will check into the DVC resort tomorrow). Thanks for the trip report to get our appetites whetted for our return to one of our favorite places!

    Better Double check your Reservations!

Is your nephew a member? Perhaps the confusion was that the DVC member cash rate is supposed to only be available for rooms in which the member is staying (they sometimes have stretched this to include rooms where the member is not staying in the room but is in another villa at the same time).

    Security Threat?

Very simple. I carry my fanny back both when I ride my bike and when I am driving. I always have the ability to check the tire pressure if air is needed in the tires of the vehicle on which or in which I am riding (this comes up almost everytime I ride my bike because I ride so infrequently)...

    Hilton Head Resort

Well, with due respect, you didn't try very hard to find the resort if you didn't know it was in Shelter Harbor. In fact, the address was available among the first few results in Google. That tidbit is easily available on the Internet. Like I said, you will get the address on your confirmation.

    Security Threat?

Every once in a while you run into a jerk security guard. It rarely happens, but sometimes it does. I had a guy at the MK giving me an extreme hassle about having a manual tire guage and my car keys in my fanny pack!! And I mean he was nasty--one step from a strip search, LOL, because I...

    Hilton Head Resort

If you have a confirmed reservation, you will get the address and directions. I'm actually not sure why the address is so important given that you know the resort is in Shelter Harbor from widely available public information.

Parks Closing Due to Capacity Between Xmas and New Years

In our experience, those are peak hours for closure (though few hard closures have occurred in the many times we have been at Xmas). Staying off-site, you will likely be closed out at the first level of closure. If it were me, I would try to get there much earlier.

Monorails had a power failure overnight

First of all, the attitudes of "expecting compensation" are precisely what is wrong with our country and our world today. You know, sometimes really bad stuff happens and its nobody's fault. In this case, maybe Disney has culpability, maybe not. I would HOPE for some compensation (maybe even...

    Hilton Head New Year's

We'll be there, too. We were there for NYE in 2007 as well. They have a rather low key party around the pool with a "ball drop" using a ball made by the kids in one of the kids activities. There is also a little dance party around the pool based on our experience in 2007. I walked over about...

CP with dining Package - what time to get in line?

Waiting in line for the second and third shows is not bad because you get to see/hear a performance while you are in line. Time goes pretty quickly.

CP with dining Package - what time to get in line?

It depends on how good a seat you want to get. The last time we were there we were in line before the previous performance started and were still several hundred people back in line (yes, this was for the reserved dinner package seating). At bare minimum, I would be in line at least by 6:15 pm.

    Disney's Hilton Head Resort

We have been to the Disney resort three different times (April, July, and December) and are returning there the week between Xmas and New Year's this year. We find it to be an extremely relaxing place with lots to do for all age groups and interests. It is an island that takes environmental...

Which park has the best fireworks for new years eve?

MK's fireworks on NYE are among the most amazing that I have ever seen--but it was really because they did four simultaneous shows to assure that the fireworks could be seen everywhere and surrounded you 360 degrees. Epcot is much preferable for NYE, though, in my opinion. You get two shows of...

    British Invasion at UK Pavillion

Several years ago I remembered them singing some other British groups' songs. I don't think that's knew. They "resemble" the Beatles, but as a PP said they are British Invasion not a retro Beatles band per se.

Changes to Home Resort Rules and Regulations?

DVC did not release a definition. They released a "presumption rule" which is quite different. They did enhance the description, for example, to include anyone who had a website for rental as being "commercial".
