    August 7, 2004 Magic...who's going?

MBFergie - Yes, Marie, that was us! Our son much preferred spending time in the club to eating late with us. He is an early diner at home and the 8:30 dining didn't suit him at all. He usually went to the show with us, then we ordered room service for him and off to the club he went. It was...

    Digital camera prints??

Actually, I just bought a 256MB flash card from buy.com for ~$50. I took it on my 8/7 Magic cruise along with a 64MB backup (that I never used). I took over 400 pictures and there was still room for more. Now the batteries were a different story...

    Best Servers on The Magic

jeanneg - We had Jean as our waiter for dinner in Palo. He was wonderful! He also made some terrific suggestions on wine pairings. It was the best dinner we've had in ages.

    Best Servers on The Magic

Hey Marie, We had Sunny and Mathilda as servers on our 8/7 cruise too! They were great. Were you late or early dining? Cynthia

    internet on board

In addition to the Internet Cafe near the Promenade Lounge, there are also a few stations in the Cove Cafe. On our cruise (8/7/04 Magic) they were quite busy. But then, Hurricane Charley was approaching Florida and people were scrambling for information. As always, YMMV. As for security...

Lab for 8 year old - What do they do during activity time?

We were on the 8/7 Magic and DS8 really enjoyed the lab. They got to make flubber! I don't recall anything truly scientific but the kids did get to do some work with a microscope and looked at fingerprints. In addition they produced and starred in their own video, created a mousepad (using...

    August 7, 2004 Magic...who's going?

Sandy - As far as I know, the family of EmmasGrammy was not on our cruise. She had taken her granddaughter on a cruise back in June. There was a woman who posted about the tragedy that was on our cruise. I think she was expressing her sympathy upon finding out about the fire. Such a tragic loss...

how soon are you allowed in your room?

They do indeed block off the halls until the staterooms are ready. We sailed on the 8/7 Magic and were able to get into our room at around 1:30.

    chocolate souffle

You know, creme brulee wasn't on the menu when we went to Palo on 8/13. I would have had it (and the souffle, of course) if it were because it is my favorite dessert! Did I just overlook it? Ack!!!

    August 7, 2004 Magic...who's going?

Oh Denise. I'm so sorry to hear about your parents' home. Having survived a hurricane when I was a kid (we lost half of our roof), I know how devastating it can be. We were lucky that we had the means to repair our home and family to live with while the new roof was being put on. Your family...

Brunch at Palo's.../Tropical rain forest at spa.

Re: Dessert at the bar in Palo. I don't know the particulars, but this is what I was told on another thread (I'll see if I can locate it). I didn't actually try it myself because I didn't know about it until after our cruise was over. I do, however, have the chocolate souffle recipe. I plan...

Brunch at Palo's.../Tropical rain forest at spa.

I found out after our 8/7 cruise that you could go to the bar and order dessert. I could have had that divine chocolate souffle more than once!

    Topsider's On Formal Night

CurtS - We sailed on the 8/7 Magic. Lobster is served during the Semi-Formal dinner/Captain's Gala on Thursday night on the Eastern itinerary. I'm not sure when it would be on the Western itinerary. DS8 wore Dockers and a short sleeved button-down shirt (no tie) and DH wore a sports jacket, nice...

    Who is the current Captain?

Captain Thor was our captain last week on the Magic. He is Norwegian and every bit the sailor. Not the most talkative person in the world, but quite hospitable. DH went to the Q&A session with Captain Thor and the ship's Chief Engineer, Gareth from Wales. Gareth, on the other hand, is as...

What food do we have to pay for?

The $10 per person charge in Palo is not a tip. It is considered a "service fee". Remember, these meals are cooked to order and are head-and-shoulders above anything you will eat in the main dining rooms. I usually tip the servers in Palo as I would tip a waiter at an upscale restaurant.
