    RCI timeshare near Disney

Vistana is a nice one--good location and the units are great. Vacation Village @ Parkway is an interesting option--it's usually a bargain to exchange into, and there are only one or two traffic lights to anywhere on property. The units are not luxurious, but are perfectly adequate. Silver Lake...

Cape May or Ale and Compass

Ale and Compass. When I am managing the transition back to Real Life, I want something a little less chaotic than a character buffet.

where is the best place you have ever been to that wasn't a vacation?

My daughter worked on an excavation in Rising Star a few summers ago--summer in North America, anyway. The tents did not have heat, and it gets pretty chilly in that part of South Africa that time of year. She even appeared as an extra in the Netflix documentary on the trip, but her interview...

where is the best place you have ever been to that wasn't a vacation?

Stockholm. I had a conference on one of the islands in the archipelago, and followed that with a few sightseeing days in the city. I ended it with an 8K trail run. https://stockholm.ecotrail.com/en/race-ecotrail-stockholm/trail-8-km

Where do DVCers vacation … outside of DVC?

I go a lot of different places using non-DVC timeshares. The places I find myself returning to regularly are Hawaii (particularly the Big Island and Kaua'i), and Great Smoky Mountain NP. This summer I have tentatively planned July 4th week in Park City at Marriott Summit Watch (on the main drag...

Disney+ In Resort & DVC Rooms

I was unable to get the screencasting thing to work at Kidani last month, so I just gave up. I do miss the old resort info channel with the "easy listening" Disney tunes, but I just went out to the balcony and watched the savanna instead.

    Animal Kingdom Kidani room requests?

Huh. I was just at Kidani a few weeks ago, and I can't say I noticed anything that was sorely in need of replacement. However, I'm also known to be one of those guests who doesn't find much to complain about vs. the average DVCer, so YMMV.

Does anyone occasionally stay at Swan or Dolphin or go to Universal

It is worth comparing the Amex rate to the rate you get directly from Lowes. They aren't always the same, which changes the calculus a little bit, especially for longer stays.

Does anyone occasionally stay at Swan or Dolphin or go to Universal

We did Universal for spring break '23, staying the week at Marriott's Cypress Harbour. We loved it, but we are also amusement park/coaster dorks. We did that on a (non-DVC) exchange, but you could also get it for a good price as a getaway during non-peak times.

    Slinky genie+ gone in minutes

This is a good question. What's interesting about Slinky is that it is not marketed as a "kiddie coaster" but that's more or less what it is. But, thinking about others that look grown-up but are relatively forceless: It's a little reminiscent of Pony Express at Knott's though PE is definitely...

    Rental only neighborhoods?

It might depend on build cost vs. market rents. If the build cost is low enough that market rents make sense, and you assume that property values will increase at a rate faster than market rents, then this strategy makes a certain amount of sense. There are a lot of places where home prices vs...

    Rumored Changes to G+

Sigh. Off to edit the post I guess to see if I can remove it. Edited to add: not editable. The site is worth every penny I pay for it I guess, but it feels icky that they are using my post as advertising.

    Delta - so expensive!

I'm not sure that's true. It's often the case that other carriers have less expensive fares for many destinations. However, those other carriers almost always require a connection and typically offer relatively few flights each day for a given route. In contrast DL usually offers a variety of...

    Delta - so expensive!

In my experience this is not true. I check often for some routes and see fares fluctuate.
