Why won't people ask for help when they need it? Just a vent

I often find that gifts from family aren't really gifts. They come with strings attached. As in: "after all I've done for you, you should take my side!" They expect me to keep polishing their halo. I vowed years ago to not take "gifts" from family. Maybe your sister feels the same way.

Excited about upcoming Disney trip but...

If it happens as soon as you get to the parks, I'd say it's anxiety. The water is clean enough that you wouldn't get sick that quickly. If it was the water, it would take time for any illness-causing bacteria to get in your system.

    Need advice

I loved it, and would encourage anyone and everyone to read it.

    Need a little advice...

I absolutely hate these craft projects. But, I may volunteer, just to be sure that apostrophes are used correctly. Especially words that end in a vowel-they are sometimes the hardest to pluralize. They still don't get an apostrophe!! Maybe the other woman is a grammar nazi like me?? :)

    College Applications and Personal Statements

If my older daughters had to write something like this, I never knew about it. I wasn't applying, they were, so I had no involvement in the process. So I'm no help. Our youngest will be applying this year and I'll probably not be involved in her applications, either. Thank goodness!!

    Medical Transcription

One hour north of Manhattan means that there is public transportation into Manhattan! But, I notice the original poster hasn't been back since telling people to "shove it", so I don't think we will find out why taking a bus into Manhattan every day won't work.

I experienced a Medicare cut back

I work for a health insurance company. It's one that allows the member to choose to get the more expensive, non-preferred drug, if your doctor and you have agreed to it. You'd just pay more. I used to work for a different health insurance company. It was one that automatically substituted...

    Hilarious SWA booking story

You're a lot calmer than I'd be. Maybe it's the lack of coffee. :)

CM Thank You Card - CM response update on Pg 5

Sometimes, it's a kindness to point out someone's flaw or mistake. I would want to be told that I have spinach in my teeth, so that I can quickly remove it. I would also want to be told if I was trailing toilet paper on my shoe, again, so that it can be fixed quickly. If I spent the entire...

    Christmas Getaway Ideas..

We ARE skiers. We ski at Mt. Snow and Okemo, and we usually stay at the Crafts Inn in Wilmington. We have also stayed at condos in the Mt. Snow community. We also love, love, love Stowe. So many restaurants and shops! It's further, though. You can sled on any hill in Vermont that isn't...

    Christmas Getaway Ideas..

For anyone else who is looking for ideas, we highly recommend the Mount Snow ski area in southern Vermont. Gorgeous scenery, skiing, sledding, just wonderful. We love it. We've spent the week before Christmas in Vermont twice recently, and can't wait to go back.

    Where do you usually buy

A local institution, Ann's Pizza. They have both kinds: plain AND pepperoni! Seriously, that's it. You can only get plain or pepperoni. We usually get both.

I experienced a Medicare cut back

Maybe I should have said: "MOST people have earned Medicare by the time they reach 65." You can pay for it, if you haven't earned it. If you or your spouse haven't worked the 40 quarters necessary to qualify for it, it's about $400/month. Are you SURE those chronically-ill children are...

I experienced a Medicare cut back

Yes, you can have both Medicare and Medicaid. By the time you get Medicare A, you've EARNED it. You've worked enough in your lifetime to get Part A with no cost. Most people of Medicare age PAY for Part B, usually by having it deducted from a Social Security check. Medicare is federal...

CM Thank You Card - CM response update on Pg 5

AMEN!! Which is why you'll never see me using those terms. I don't even say "cm", or "adr" on these boards. I don't have a "dd" or "dh", I have daughters and a husband. My name is Duffy, and I tip in actual cash, not with my picture and a dime.
