    Kids meals question

Part of the problem is he won't eat the things we can bring in as snacks. He won't eat chips, candy, snack bars, crackers, sandwiches, yogurt, cheese, any of the likely options. He'll do without and get more and more stressed as the day goes by. With the rest of the kids I would have said "eat...

    Kids meals question

That is our go to plan at WDW, but we know where the chicken and fry shack is. Thanks.

    Kids meals question

Do any of the Disneyland restaurants have french fries, even if it isn't listed on their menu? I'll take the advice above to check the app when we are there, but right now I'm just trying to get a list of restaurants that might suit my family members (and our budget). My son has a disability and...

    Best mobility scooter to buy?

Kaytie, I thought of buying one while I was in Florida the last time, but don't really want a used one from a rental place. The one we rented from Walker was obviously well used, though it worked fine. I suspect the prices might be lower there due to demand, but just didn't have time to do the...

    Best mobility scooter to buy?

My husband and I both have mobility issues that make a full day walking around the parks impossible. We rented a scooter to share for our last visit and it totally saved the trip. We have another trip scheduled before our APs expire, and would also use one from time to time at home, so I think...

How do I find a good ECV to purchase at a reasonable price?

Thanks for all of the good information. That helps me a lot with the things I need to consider. The tip about needing to use the scooter regularly to maintain the battery is a good one. I have a lot to think about. Sheila

How do I find a good ECV to purchase at a reasonable price?

I thought about renting an ECV for an upcoming WDW trip, but am considering buying one. I find myself skipping events because I know I'm going to have trouble getting around. My son has Down Syndrome Awareness Group day at the zoo tomorrow and I don't know how I'm going to be able to get through...

    Anyone familiar with Dollywood?

Over the weekend I saw a television ad for a Gatlinburg version of the Fantasy of Trees going on this week. It sounded like it would be nice, and it would be closer. Someone at your resort should be able to provide details. Sheila

    Anyone familiar with Dollywood?

It isn't Disney World but there is definitely fun to be had there. I'm not a coaster person, but my kids like the ones at Dollywood. The shows are very good and the atmosphere is enjoyable. They have some really nice food offerings at pretty good prices. I would definitely recommend it since...

Who has fake Christmas trees that look nice?

Thanks for all the great leads! I'm going to try to find one for this year, but if I don't, I'll definitely check out Balsam Hill for after Christmas. Thanks again, Sheila

Who has fake Christmas trees that look nice?

Thanks for the tip. I'm not a Sam's Club member, but my daughter is thinking of joining. I forgot to mention that I prefer NOT to have a pre-lit tree. Just weird, I guess, but my husband always does an amazing job with putting the lights on the old one.

Who has fake Christmas trees that look nice?

I'd rather use a real tree, but my work schedule takes me out of town for the whole month of December, so I put up a fake tree for the family before I leave town. I have one that is more than 25 years old that looks a lot like a real tree, but it is getting pretty ratty. I look every year at...

Snow White compared my son to Dopey

How did your child react? My son with DS loves any kind of attention like that. Since we have never used the word "dopey" in a negative way, I'm sure he would have loved it. I hope that your being offended didn't cause him concern. I would have taken a few pictures and moved on to the next...

    2 week park hopper?

We enjoy our park days much more if we alternate days, park visit one day, off park the next day. Particularly when the children were smaller, day after day in the parks was exhausting, especially in the summer when it was hot. On the other hand, we very much enjoyed the times we had annual...

    Taxes and Exchange Student?

Definitely ask a pro. I wouldn't have expected the stipend to be taxable, since it would be to reimburse you for the costs of providing food, lodging, etc. Sheila

    Disney Activities without Park Admission

My son loves the drum circle they have at least one night a week at AKL. We go for it even when we aren't staying there. Sheila

Tis the Season for Shipping Frustration

I ordered a shirt for my son to wear in my daughter's wedding. It made it via UPS to their location about 10 miles from my house, but took multiple days to get it to USPS for delivery, compounded by the fact that it was a holiday weekend. The wedding was on July 1 but UPS didn't get it to the...

Building a new house, financial discussion

One music room? Two musical kids? That might not work. We faced a similar issue due to my husband the musician, who never really plays at home, but who created four musical children. We had a 1500 sf home and added on an even bigger addition. Our bedroom stayed in the old house and the kids got...

    Southwest Visa; keep it?

Wish I could find one of those. The flights I have booked range from 10K - 13K or more each way. I once found a great sale under 10K one way, but that was before the points were devalued. Sheila
