    Smart move.

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

This is the "absurd absolute" tell for cognitive dissonance. You can recognize it throughout this thread.

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

If Disney doubled the price of the plan, but kept the OOP prices the same, would you still get the plan? All the reasons you listed would still be true.

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

Ah, so none of your approach is rational. Gotcha. Sorry about that. See eeyoreandtink, that's rational.

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

You plan your dining in advance using spreadsheets, but can produce no evidence of them. You save money sometimes (or is it most times?) but you don't do the plan to save money. You do it to give yourself peace of mind so you don't have to think about the money you're spending....but then you go...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

I get it. You like the fact that the DDP tricks you into relieving yourself from the self-imposed guilt trip and fear that you will spend more than you wanted. You're knowingly overpaying for food for that "peace of mind." I'm sorry you are experiencing this level of cognitive dissonance, but...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

If you've basing the plan on it's ability to save you money, it's not subjective. It's a very concrete answer backed up with math. Either it does or it doesn't and most times it doesn't. If you get the plan because you are afraid to overspend even though all the evidence shows otherwise, that's...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

I'm putting words in your mouth? I don't want to do that. Do you not agree with what I said? You got the plan to be beneficial by using it in an unintended, but not "illegal," way. It's not a criticism. In fact, I called you brilliant. Are you that mired in cognitive dissonance that you cannot...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

You refused to give details, only conclusions. It is. Correction: cited a specific example where there was a lack of understanding. You interpreted that in your head as a general statement. Both statements are true. Of course, they're free to prove me wrong and post the details they...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

Go to 2 point restaurants and you will go over. So no examples then? I thought you questioned why avoiding 1 point restaurants was important on the DxDDP? I don't see your post where you gave all the ADR's. You also "gamed" the DxDDP, right? You were the one who shared the points within a...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

Wrong. I don't say the MATH is invalid. The problem is a LACK of math. The non-math reasons for the dining plan is what's irrational. Please do try to keep up. Of course not. Neither does the Disney plan. But unlike the Disney plan, you don't lose if you change plans, eat less, choose less...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

Oh, I see you've heard about Disney's new Deluxe Lodging Plan. For a lump sum of $16,500, you get 7 nights in ANY available room at ANY Disney resort. It might save you some money if you get the most expensive room at the most expensive resorts for your entire stay. Exclusions apply, like the...

Are you referring to this post? I don't see where you broke down the second half of the trip. Please enlighten us with the details.

Is the Dining Plan worth the price...

Always first assume that you will lose money with the DDP. They only way you will know for sure is to figure out every restaurant and every meal in advance, add up the costs and compare with the DDP. It almost always does not yield a savings. Even when it does, it's hardly worth the "lock-in."

    cold neck wrap?

I cut mine in half lengthwise. Not only yields 2 for 1, but it's a better fit.

How to avoid catching a cold at WDW?

Zinc works, but not Cold-Eeze. See this: https://chrismasterjohnphd.com/2016/12/26/zinc-definitely-fights-colds-youre-probably-using-wrong-kind/

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

Please don't get the wrong impression. It's your money. Put it into a big pile and light it on fire if that's what you desire. I don't care. However, people come to this board for advice. The default assumption is that the dining plan is a perk and therefore must be cheaper. It used to be a long...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

If you buy the DDP with the hope of paying less, you are restricted in what you can purchase to achieve that goal. If you are able to abide by all those restrictions, you MIGHT save a LITTLE money. Both those statements are true. Anything else has to do with illusions of convenience and peace of...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

Apparently they don't. Go back and re-read this thread. They don't care if they lose money. They like the "convenience" of being restricted to a certain number of points to be used on a certain kind of resturant items regardless of cost. I wouldn't call these people the "top 1% or so of guests...

Using DDP knowing you won't get value?

Not quite. I do assume most (not all) don't really know if they're overpaying. A lot of people in this thread think they are doing better with the DDP and claim to have done the math, but almost none can back that up with evidence. I never said the DDP is never going to provide a financial...
