Is influenza going around now in your area? And Tamiflu question

I'm in the Chicago burbs, and all four of us were down with the flu last week. It's pretty widespread at the school where my husband teaches. My husband and youngest son got Tamiflu and while it shortened the duration of the worst symptoms, it hasn't helped with the lingering effects.

WDW Vet going in summer for first time

We took most of our trips in June because of my DH's work schedule. When our children were that young and still early risers, we went to morning EMH or got to the park at rope drop. On those days we'd make a TS lunch reservation and leave the park for a swim and/or nap after lunch. Plan on a...

    The twinnies? Ugh.

Newborn - Need help with sleep (for mom)

I'm going to suggest swaddling, too. My kids are teens, so I just used a receiving blanket - don't remember any swaddle products then! Mine always slept better when they were swaddled. Hang in there!

Do you make your own bread?

I use the machine to make the dough and finish it off in the oven. I got a used machine at Goodwill for $5. You might want to go that route to decide if you like it.

Anyone have a vacuum they would recommend?

I have both too, as well as an Oreck. Of the three, the Oreck does the worst job. I agree with your assessment of the Dyson and the Shark, but I will not buy another Shark. It's harder to clean out and cleaning the filter on it just grosses me out. It also overheats pretty quickly.

Here now fourth FP+ is a mirage

Completely agree. We are just back today and found FP+ to be less than ideal. Not only is availability less for the headliners, rope drop has become useless. With paper FPs, we'd get there for rope drop and ride all the headliners without any FPs as well as other lesser attractions. This...

    Gatlinburg vs New England

Agree. We went to Gatlinburg last summer - never again. It's the Wisconsin Dells of the South. Lots of traffic and tourist traps. Much prefer the areas farther out.

Help! My daughter has announced she wants to be a vegetarian

Rather than telling my child to research and get back to me, I think I would take the tack of a previous poster and research meal plans and ideas together. There are a lot of options that could be turned into family meals that you would all enjoy. I would still feel a responsibility to make...

    Help..wdw & universal..how to plan?

Last trip we did Universal for two days first, then moved to WDW for six days. This trip we're doing the opposite. I have two teen boys, and the rides at WDW are a letdown after the coasters at Universal. Honestly, if it wasn't for my kids I'd never go to Universal again. Yes, it does have...

What's your secret to a good homemade burger?

I don't freeze burgers. I think it changes the texture of the meat and it's noticeable to all of us. I use 80/20, add Worcestershire sauce and a little olive oil, hand shape and use Kosher salt and pepper on the outside. I also make some depressions in the center with my fingers to help it...

    Becoming an orphan at 39

Honestly, there's nothing you can do. My husband and I have both lost both parents. My youngest son had no grandparents when he was ten. My husband told me he couldn't understand why I was struggling to get past the loss until he was there himself. My best advice is to give him space and be...

    Vertigo

My husband has vertigo. He was initially prescribed meclazine, but thanks to a helpful pharmacist, we now just keep Dramamine or Bonine on hand. Same med for a lot less money.

    Moving Home After College

I graduated in the same time frame as you. We all - without exception - lived at home for a while after college, even after having apartments on campus. My nieces and nephews and all of my friends kids have done the same. It may be for six months or a year, but it's the norm.

    Moving Home After College

I don 't know one person, from my generation on down, who moved from college directly into their own apartment. I also don't know one person who paid rent at home. I also don't know one person for whom it was more than a temporary situation. We all got jobs, moved out and went on to lead...

    Blacklist- anyone else watch it?

I have to stop multi-tasking during this show! I take back my original post and agree with everything you said!

    Blacklist- anyone else watch it?

I think Berlin is Liz's father (both Red and Berlin had the same picture of Liz as a child) and Red led Berlin to believe Liz was dead to protect her. I don't think Tom is dead either.

Anyone drive to parks instead of taking resort buses?

We relied on the busses for one trip and have taken our car to the parks every trip since. We typically visit in summer because of school schedules. Going back to your own quiet car after being in a park with the masses can't be beat. I usually pack a cooler with some partially frozen water...

Help me keep fresh herbs fresh in the refrigerator

Even without roots, mine last longer if I keep them in a glass of water. Just remember to change the water daily.
