What don't you want to forget when you are packin!?!?!?

The one thing I forgot to pack on a Las Vegas visit about three years ago was: Prescription eyeglasses! I've never forgotten them before and I can't see two feet in front of my face without my glasss or contact lenses! And my eyes can handle contact lenses for only about 14 hours...

Disboutiquers Part 28 Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes psst..we sew ;-)

Wow! So many wonderful things! I can hardly wait for late May/early June so I can begin working on school clothes for Miss Abigail! *LOL* I finally broke down and bought an 18" doll for her--for her fifth birthday in October. American Girl was out of my budget--and she isn't all that careful...

As Meshell2002 noted, it dries quickly--which is nice if it gets wet while wearing it! Or if a certain someone wants to wear it consecutive days, it will dry quickly overnight if it has to be washed by hand (thinking of DLR/WDW trips!). Also, use a lower heat setting on your iron--polyester...

    Reservations w/no discounts?

Since we deal with two different schedules and two completely different lifestyles in two states, we usually book well in advance and apply an AAA discount if possible. We are limited by our jobs when we can travel--and, of course, our restrictions are different! I usually book two...

Your new babies are beautiful! :goodvibes And your trial run is great! :) Edited to add: Your new fabrics look wonderful! I'm mourning my fabric stash. I had to sell or donate most of it when I down-sized. Just did not have room for it! Hello, from a fellow lurker! I lurk more...

    Hot weather survival tips?

The humidity is much worse than the heat--for me, anyway! I live in the low desert, so that makes sense, doesn't it? I take a mini battery-operated fan. Just the fan. No misting system. There already is far too much moisture in the air! *LOL* If you decide to take fans, be sure to bring or...

Love the backpacks! Shirts are cute, too! Love your sample bag! It's much easier to design exactly what you want/need if you test your idea/pattern periodically, isn't it?

You can use regular sewing thread for the appliques--or rayon embroidery thread. Regular sewing thread holds up a bit better, IMHO. The density of the stitches when satin stitching forms a slight hump. The bottom of the applique foot is hollowed slightly to accommodate this extra height. It...

If you have breakfast in your room, what do you eat?

My BFF doesn't eat breakfast most of the time, but enjoys a nice TS breakfast every few days (we visit WDW for 10 to 12 nights). My body began demanding nourishment in the morning about 10 years ago. I still don't like traditional breakfast food, and I want something fairly quick in my hotel...

    Value Resorts and Bed Skirts

I haven't stayed at Pop Century since the refurb, but there were no bedskirts. The bed frame is a solid box (does not move), topped by the box spring and the mattress. If memory serves, the beds have bedspreads, rather than comforters/duvets and bedskirts.

Definitely launder both the t-shirt and fabric before beginning your project. You need to be sure they are colorfast and will be compatible when laundered in the future. Heat & Bond is a used for fusing two fabrics together. It's available in different weights/strengths--you probably would...

Disboutiquers Part 28 Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes psst..we sew ;-)

We just had three or four days of winter! Temps were in the 80s, then dropped into the 50s and 60s! BRRRR! Overnight lows were in the 40s. It was a nice respite. Without the occasional temperature fluctuation, we would be 100+ degrees most of the year. Cold front was moving east...

    Overwhelmed! Help!!!

    1. Check The DIS and the WDW websites for park and event hours during your trip dates. Since you are staying offsite, it probably would be a good idea to avoid EMH (Extra Magic Hours) days at each park. Each park has one morning and one evening EMH day every week. Very popular with WDW resort...

Disboutiquers Part 28 Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes psst..we sew ;-)

Welcome! Glad your family is able to make another trip to WDW! If just zigzagging appliques, what about cutting a rectangle, square or circle (or other easy geometric shape) of patterned fabric and satin-stitching it onto the shirt to coordinate with the other outfit(s)? It's a bit more...

How can I plan for a budget work wardrobe?

Colors and fabric depend on where you live. Some areas still observe summer/winter colors, others not so much. Using black/grey or navy/grey palette, I would go with: Jacket/blazer in one solid color or mini tweed blend Slacks: 1 pair in each color (2 total) Skirts: 1 in one base color...

Woohoo! Caught the move on page 10! Much better than page 180! *LOL* Now, I need to go back to Part 27 and catch up on that! I'm still working on adult clothing--boring office stuff!--and am getting anxious to start on things for Miss Abigail in May. She already has tons of stuff for...

To EMH or not to EMH

We travel to WDW from Arizona and California, so we have a two or three hour time difference. We are night owls and find it a bit difficult to adapt to ET for the two or three days, so evening EMH is great for us at the beginning of the trip! Otherwise, we're awake until 3:00 a.m. playing...

I'm a fan of Rowenta irons. A bit pricey, but I've had my current iron for nearly 20 years and it still works beautifully--and it doesn't spit on my fabric or garments! :goodvibes Be sure to check reviews for the models you consider. As with many products, some models have better reviews than...

    Do you "mini" up?

I purchased "mini" containers some time ago (think years!) that I use for personal care products. I pack the basics (facial cleanser, moisturizer, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, etc.) in my carry-on bag and the remainder in my checked bag. My luggage rarely goes astray, but when it does, it's a...
