    Boma vs. Jiko ..... Recommendation?

I love Jiko and like Boma a lot. If you have young kids, I would probably recommend Boma because there is also American fare on the buffet (chicken tenders, etc). The kids typically like having a chance to sample the other foods but can stay with their staples. Jiko is just plain yummy...

What "must have" food has been discontinued

I remember a really yummy bread they served at California Grill with herbs on it. The last time we were at California Grill they served a different kind of bread. I wonder if they brought back the original bread? It was sooooo yummy.

    My Points - Redemption

Try back again in a few days. I know they were out of Walmart gift certificates when I had gone to redeem, but then they had them in stock a couple days later when I checked back. :)

    New dress code

As a Floridian that typically wears jean shorts and a t-shirt to WDW parks, I would be quite upset if they said t-shirts were not allowed at a restaurant like Jiko. Since we live so close, we rarely spend the night, but we do frequent some of the nicer restaurants at Disney (jiko being one of...

DDE card holders - have you rec'd a new schedule of events lately?

Been a member of DDE for a couple years (we're FL residents) and have not received the newsletter this year for several months. I think it was early spring or late winter last we received one.

    How much $$ for F&WF?

The samples are generally enough to share between two people, yes. However, some of them are so tasty that you will end up buying two (one for each person). And some of the samples won't float your boat and you could end up wasting theM :( I would bring at least $100 in cash for 2 ppl...

    How much $$ for F&WF?

I don't know if it is kosher to post a link, but I now wdwig has the menus from the booths with the prices from last year. Here is an excerpt : PERU Papas Rellenas - beef stuffed potato with roasted corn relish $2.50 Anticuchos with Papas Huancaina-Peruvian - chicken skewer with purple...

    How much $$ for F&WF?

The samples add up fairly quickly :) Actually more expensive than eating at a sitdown restaurant, but a little more fun... I believe most of the samples will run you somewhere 2-4 dollars... I'm not including alcohol in that.

    Bad Luck Stories

When I was a child, my Girl Scout troop traveled from Iowa to Disney World. On our final day, we were headed back to the airport and had to stop at an Exxon on WDW property to fill up the rental. Anyway, the windows were down but it was drizzling in that old Florida afternoon rain storm...

Our 1st Grand Gathering...Part 1...Irritated Dix, Way Dangerous Things, Pony Princess

I always prefer a link in the person's signature to a post that has all the chapters of the trip report. I don't like having to dig down through all the responses to see if there is a new installment :) But, that is just my opinon. I just finished your first trip report, btw. VERY GOOD...

    Looking for advice and help

Hello again :) Update on the fire: The good news is that my brother and wife will be able to move back into their apartment this coming week. I just hope that the landlord is kind in his/her heart and does not try to make them move out. There was limited damage to their stove and cabinets...

    Looking for advice and help

Thanks everyone for your replies (and for the PM's that I have gotten as well). I agree, Cheshire. I would most likely feel safest if I flew up to Iowa and escorted them down, even on a direct flight to Orlando. On sad news, my mum just reported that they my brother and wife had a fire in...

    Looking for advice and help

Hello, :wave2: I am looking for some advice and thought this would be a great place to start! :) First, a little background. I'm 30yo and live with my DH in Florida, about 2-1/2 hours from WDW. My older brother, however, lives in Iowa. He is slightly autistic, but is fairly high...

4 year old died on Mission Space today?

I'm trying to picture a 4 year old on Mission Space to begin with! EEEK! :sad2: I pray that the family will be able to get through this. What a horrible way to spend your vacation :(

    DDE Newsletter

Back when it was only open to Florida residents, we consistently got a DDE newsletter monthly. They usually had a special themed meal each month, and some other items in the newsletter. The special themed dinner was at extra cost. However, since the start of this year, we have only received...

    Fat Friendly Rides???

I hate to be a bummer, but I have had problems at Disney. Specifically, the RRcoaster at MGM. I guess I have a large enough bust area that the bar that comes down over your shoulders rode high on me. Even though it latched without a problem, the bar was closer to my ears than other...

Our "last night at Disney" dinner at Jiko

I love JIKO :) I'm taking my parents there this Saturday night. I've been dreaming about the Monkfish since the last time we were there in December. I just hope it's as good as I remember it!

    A question about Swan/Dolphin

I've never stayed at the Swan or Dolphin. Do you get a parking pass for the entire Disney World resort the way you do if you stay at other Disney resorts? I'm curious if we'll be able to park at the parks for free if we're spending the night at the Swan. Thanks :)

    DDE ?? Renewal letter??

I didn't get my renewal done in time. I did put in an order for new cards in late September and they arrived in the mail on Tuesday.... There wasn't a delay for me, but again, I wasn't renewing...

Favorite non park restaurant for dinner?

I recommend going to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and eating dinner at Jiko or Boma. You can also see the animals while you are there :)
