    Resale question

FWIW, we just bought at $64/pt and Disney let it go. That's in the lower range of what I've seen offered; we were basically buying 2005 pts, though, because the 04 pts had been borrowed into 03 already. Fine by us - we'll borrow from 05 for our 04 stay <g>.

    disadvantages or hidden costs

Potentially. There are per-point, yearly maintenance fees, which range from $3-5 per point depending on your home resort. Also, all the resorts except Saratoga may "go away" in 2042, when DVC's lease with Disney is up. You'll still have to pay for park admission, food, and whatnot...

    2042

You could be totally right and that's a likelier scenario than demolition <grin>. But it does seem odd from a business perspective. I mean, I get what you're saying - why settle for DVC when those rooms could go for $$$$ on the cash market? But the DVC system was created during a boom era...

    2042

So, out of curiosity, what are Disney's options in ~40 years when the lease on everyplace but Saratoga Springs is up? Do they yank everyone's club memberships, demolish the resorts, and call it quits? Do they just renew everyone for another ~50 years? Do they make us pay $$$$ to stay in...

    Disney Vacation Club

We're considering biying into a DVC resort, since we enjoy vacationing in WDW so often. Plus, the ability to swap out our DVC points in Paris or CA is a big plus (why not Tokyo, too? Sheesh). One of the main selling points of a traditional (non-Disney) timeshare is that you pay a price now...
