Prices just hit my threshold :-(

That's also a great point. I have a young daughter who like most loves princesses. She also hates waiting in gigantic lines. So she could develop a negative perception of actually going to the park. It's like your football analogy. I had season tickets for many years for the Dolphins. But...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

That's a fair point. It's probably coming in the near future. Now they do have to figure out how to keep the family engaged. Hence working with the Four Seasons for people who want Mickey but also the familiarity of Luxury.

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

You really aren't getting this. Let's say through the use of tracking my magicband they determine that I spend $150 every two hours. On an incredibly busy day I am stuck in line and can't spend. So to compensate for the lost revenue they add a premium to AP holders and soon to be regular...

I think it's coming. They aren't there yet but they sure are trying.

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

Nope you aren't there yet. What you are suggesting is great - add new stuff. Build amazing wonders. But all of that is future capital spending. I need to maximize my revenue for my existing assets. That is what you are seeing now. The parks are way overcrowded and I can't get my high earners out...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

It's not really about riding the rides. You don't make any money off a twirl around Dumbo. I need to get you through this line as quick as possible so you can go spend money somewhere else.

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

Because you still make money off the lower paying guest. You don't want to get rid of them. You still need them. But you need to make it easier for the higher revenue guests to spend. They can't spend if they are stuck in line.

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

Of course not, but they have then maximized revenue per sq foot. Let's be really honest, Disney could say look these are Motel 6 like rooms. And we could make them really affordable for all demographics so let's charge $90. Instead they will push and people will still pay. This isn't some...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

No. I'm stating that there is clearly high demand for their product. And the SOLE purpose of the Disney Corporation is to maximize shareholder wealth. Why wouldn't they raise the price to maximize revenue? And why wouldn't they target individuals that have add-ons that add to incremental...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

Not what I said at all. I'm break it down for you. They will continue to raise the price for a value until they hit a "wall." That wall could be $150 a night or may even reach $250 during a peak time. At a certain price point consumers will back off.

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

That is exactly what I am stating. When you are stuck in a line you are not spending. And now they can track your movements and spending habits. And that is what they are saying. You Mr. AP holder, you don't spend enough to be here during a busy time. If you want to be here it's X premium.
  13. B

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

You continue to raise the price until you suck every single penny out of the demographic. Let's be honest the value resorts are pretty awful. If you moved them a few miles down the road they would sell for $50-$70 a night. At some point you will cross the line and consumers will not pay for a...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

They have limited resources. There are only so many seats on a bus, tables in a restaurant and rides around the track. Disney has high demand and everyone wants the same thing. It's smart to phase out the lower producing customers. Focus on those that can add to the bottom line. I'm a...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

I think it's clear they don't want the park at capacity. Capacity causes service issues and keeps the good paying guests away. If they were honest they would probably say that we would like to weed out the guests that historically tap our infrastructure and do not contribute to incremental...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

Do they though? Lower paying guests use the same infrastructure and typically don't add to the margin. Think of it this way you own a small cafe with 10 tables. At dinner time a family of four comes in and occupies one of your tables. They only order water, share an appetizer (send it back 6...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

Again, Disney is not just the Magic Kingdom. Big, huge, global conglomerate. We being arm-chair CEO's assume they only care about attendance. I would bet they also care about net revenue per customer. They also have the China expansion, movies, tv and even a piece of Hulu if you want to stay...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

They don't need 10,000 customers spending $2,000. Just a few thousand spending $10,000. It's not apples to apples. Look we can all play arm-chair CEO and pretend that we can run a multi-billion global conglomerate. But I'm going to go with they ran a few thousand monte carlo simulations and...

Are they checking against Disney HK or China? Or just the Orlando area. WDW is one part of the Disney Corporation. I can double my money and still not be as rich as Bill Gates...

Prices just hit my threshold :-(

And to play Devil's advocate... Dear Consumer, I am sorry that you are disappointed in our new automobile. It sounds like power windows, locks and a radio are key features to you. To produce that specific Sienna is no longer cost effective to our shareholders. As such, we are moving away from...
