Make a Wish (and other organizations) - Wish Trippers UNITE! Volume SIX!

I would say absolutely. Part of it will depend on your kiddo(s) of course, but I don't think you will have any issues if you are able to spend the whole day there. It's nice to have the park-to-park option!

Make a Wish (and other organizations) - Wish Trippers UNITE! Volume SIX!

I have the GKTW recap up on my blog! I'm just too wordy to fit everything into one blog post. :) I'll get to recapping Disney World and Universal Studios soon, but probably won't have those up for at least another week.

Tips for someone with a new partial leg prosthesis?

Well, my experience with amputees is a little different, since it's my son (and there is probably quite an age gap between him and your father, ha!), but I'll answer what I can. The ECV will likely be relied on pretty heavily for stamina. My son had only had his feet (he's BBKA) since...

Make a Wish (and other organizations) - Wish Trippers UNITE! Volume SIX!

Our GPS was a pain in the butt and literally took us a different way each day, but I'd say that on average it took about 25 minutes from GKTW to Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. If I remember correctly, it's only about 13 miles, but with traffic, stop lights, and tolls (on the day our GPS...

Make a Wish (and other organizations) - Wish Trippers UNITE! Volume SIX!

Aww, thank you so much! We don't have a FB page set up...just the dwindling blog. :) I'm glad D's story gave you the feels, lol. He's a pretty special kiddo. I'm working on getting caught up on the blog - I've started a post about Make A Wish (not the trip itself, but an experience with...

First trip with one leg :)

My son is a BBKA and we just got back from Disney. He's 5, so he's obviously a very different situation than you, but we would not have survived without the stroller we brought in place of his wheelchair. He did ok standing in shorter lines and a little walking, but the combo of the heat and...

Make a Wish (and other organizations) - Wish Trippers UNITE! Volume SIX!

We just got back from GKTW late last night! The trip was WONDERFUL. GKTW was amazing, although they definitely have some communication glitches to work out (I'm guessing because of all of the volunteers?). We had multiple instances of being told one thing at one point, and then being told...

Make a Wish (and other organizations) - Wish Trippers UNITE! Volume SIX!

Oh man, I wish I had an answer for you! We planned on doing that exact thing (checking out of GKTW and then going to Legoland) but decided against it because it was too effing hot in FL while we were there. :lmao:

Make a Wish (and other organizations) - Wish Trippers UNITE! Volume SIX!

It must depend on area. We've been in contact with our wish granters on a regular basis since they met with us in May. We got our flight info via email in July(?), and days after that got a packet with the flight details & a listing of a couple of other things (we are getting tickets to...

    Big D's Wish Trip

Ok we've got our days somewhat mapped out for us: Day 1 - Arrive @ Give Kids the World at 7pm Day 2 - Animal Kingdom (AM), Disney Studios (PM)...see "Fantasmic" at 8pm Day 3 - Magic Kingdom (MNSSHP that night!) Day 4 - Epcot Day 5 - Universal Day 6 - either Universal or MK Day 7 - Not...

Make a Wish (and other organizations) - Wish Trippers UNITE! Volume SIX!

Ok, guys. Trip is 22 days away, and I am SUPER overwhelmed at the Universal part of the trip. As of right now, we've planned 2 days for Universal, mainly because we've heard from multiple people that our boys will like it more than MK. (That's obviously flexible - if we go there 1 day and...

How out of place will we be not dressed up at MNSSHP?

Sorry if this isn't the right board for this...I'm too scared to venture anywhere else. :) We don't plan on dressing up for MNSSHP - my big will probably want to dress up as Mario, my little will likely ONLY want to be a Ninja Turtle, lol. And my husband and me...well, it's not likely, ha...

    Double Umbrella Stroller Recs Needed - 4 & 5 year-olds

The decision to not bring his wheelchair is two-fold - 1), he rarely uses it now as is and 2) if we brought his wheelchair, we'd also have to do a stroller for his brother. I figure this way we can kill two birds with one stone. I'll check out the FAQ thread - thanks!

    Big D's Wish Trip

We went back and forth on extending our trip, but we are running on pretty limited vacation time this year, so we decided to plan a beach trip for next year so we could make our way to Clearwater and see Winter the dolphin! :) I've gotten VERY lucky in the planning department. I was telling...

    Double Umbrella Stroller Recs Needed - 4 & 5 year-olds

After going back and forth, we decided that instead of bringing my son's wheelchair to Disney that we'd purchase a double-umbrella stroller instead. My son (will be almost 6 by the time of the trip) is long/tall for his age when he wears his prostheses (bilateral below knee amputee), and that...

    Big D's Wish Trip

I don't think I'm going to do any dinner reservations. I'll keep looking around to see if there might be a cool one, but the boys are more interested in rides/games/fun than characters.

    Big D's Wish Trip

Thanks, guys! We were supposed to get finalized details early in the month, but we just got them today - we leave fly out Oct 7 and return Oct 13! Our local Wish chapter asked us if we'd like to do a character meal, and I asked if they could get us tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween...

Make a Wish (and other organizations) - Wish Trippers UNITE! Volume SIX!

Everything is FINALLY 100% confirmed. We fly out October 7 and get it a little after 6pm, and come home the night of the 13th. Our Wish chapter was going to schedule a breakfast, but instead I asked about Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, and they got us tickets to that instead - I'm so...
