Never been to Epcot, is it worth it with little ones?

This park was my DS' favorite when he was 4. I was suprised as well but I'd give it a try. His favorites were the kidcot stations (we didn't get to visit all the countries and he wanted to go back to the park for this) and Test Track.

What is the first thing you do when you get to Disney?

Seems like most years we check in, do some pool time, go to Chef Mickey's then hit DTD. It's coming up soon and we can't wait!!:goodvibes

How old to let child ride by themself?

I think 11 is old enough. We are letting our 10 year old ride some rides by himself if he wants.

Teen watching toddlers during an attraction? Is this ok?

If you want to stay with your son maybe your neice could take the twins over to the child care center near Crystal Palace for a break while you stay with your son at HOP? Just a thought.

Anybody else feeling ripped off by TGM?

I agree that his site could use some updating and I have subscribed several times since 2004. I took a quick trip last year without subscribing but went back for my trip this year. I loved the TGM initially but it doesn't look like the site content has been kept up.

Five Days, Two Families w/Two Styles... OH MY!

I can so relate to some things that happened in your trip report. My ds and I went with another family for our July trip. I told them in advance how I'd "done Disney" in the past and given them all kinds of information about the parks. They pretty much relied on me for everything as well...

The dreaded leg in the Pirates of the Caribbean!

I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this. My ds (7) is also freaked out by the stinky foot guy. I couldn't imagine how freaked out he would be if it fell on him. :earseek:

Umbrella stroller for 4 year old or rent?

I highly recommend renting a stroller for your trip. They are $7 a day but you get a discount if you rent over several days. We tried going without on our last trip and regretted it by the end of the day.

    Who uses fannypacks?

Another fanny pack user here. I also got one for my ds last year and explained that he was responsible for carrying his own things. He really liked it and he used it to carry his autograph book, pen, park ticket, souvie money, etc. DH has one too so I guess we all look kind of silly. But we...

Which plan for evenings w/small children

I would base your evenings on how the kids are doing. My son was able to do Fantasmic at 8 and Illuminations at 9 but everything else was just too late for him. We did naps as well but he just couldn't do the later hours. HTH, Jean

Can You Rent Strollers Before Park Opens?

I have always been able to rent strollers in Animal Kingdom before my breakfast at Donald's. Haven't had as much luck at MK though. These are the only two we've been at before park opening for breakfast. Good luck and have a great trip. Jean

    Checking in two rooms?

Thanks, everyone. My name is on the reservation so this should work out. I was just concerned that since they get in so late that they may get bumped to Sports or Music. They look to be pretty booked up the week we arrive. Jean

    Checking in two rooms?

Hey All, We (my DS and I)are vacationing with another party and will both be staying at the ASMo. We get there about 3PM but they won't arrive until almost 10PM. Is it possible for me to get the room keys for both rooms in advance? Thanks, Jean

    Is this ok?

We actually did a birthday week for my son when he turned 6 at Disney. He got birthday pins from all 4 of the parks and talked to Goofy at guest services two times. We had one sit down meal a day at least and they all had a small cake for him. In some cases a card too. It was very sweet and...

    Disney without credit cards?

I don't like to use credit cards if I can help it either. But if I must (which I agree with the others, you will want it for an overseas trip) I will usually use an Amex which forces me to pay it off next month or else. If they don't take Amex (I used mine all over WDW) I will use another...

Where is thhe best place to watch the Animal Kingdom Parade?

We actually caught it after we got off the train from Rafiki's Planetwatch. We were there to do the last Discovery Kids station (my ds always HAS to do this) and I noticed it was after 4PM. I figured we would miss it when we got on the train to go back to Africa because it was about 4:30PM...
