We were there during this same time period (9/29-10/8), and I thought the crowds were very manageable. We made efficient use of fastpasses and made sure we got to the parks at opening, but we didn't go commando-style or rush to everything... and we still had no more than a 20-30 minute wait for...

FWIW... I saw Heely's (sp?) everywhere last week. Lots of kids scooting around on them, in the parks at at the resort.

One thing I missed from last year... they used to have samples of each item offered for viewing in a plexiglass container. For all of the unfamiliar foods, it was nice to see what it was. They didn't have that this year. I would also echo the comment that it would be better without children...
