odd question about 7 year olds---- wasnt sure where to post it.

My 7yo asked this very question on our trip to WDW last week. "Are they real?" I said that Disney World is a magical place and that we can choose to believe in the magic or not. He seemed good with my response.

The Day the Mickey Died II - Saving Mr. Panic Attack *update 10/2*

I know you're not blaming those symptoms on the taser. This will be us in 10 days, standing in a circle and rubbing our --wait, what? Yeah, right. Like you still have your man card. That's where we're heading...Saratoga, then OKW, then POFQ. Not sure what the issue is? Tinkershell and...

The Day the Mickey Died II - Saving Mr. Panic Attack *update 10/2*

The Incredibles. I'm on to you. That's because you never have an original thought. I love your plan! It's flawless! Apply deodorant through their clothes? That is one seriously flawed plan. I too own a minivan. But I NEVER loan it out to my mother. She plays with the hydraulic lifts too...

The Day the Mickey Died II - Saving Mr. Panic Attack *update 10/2*

Wow, I can't believe you still get the newspaper. What are you, some crazy mind-reader from outer space? I'll bet YOU are the weird neighbor you were talking about. Which would explain the lack of fashion sense. My Pal Mickey never did these things. Are you sure you didn't get the Chucky...

The Day the Mickey Died II - Saving Mr. Panic Attack *update 10/2*

A Seinfeld quote. Bonus. [Raises hand weakly] Another obsessed planner over here. I freaking LOVE planning, and my husband knows that I enjoy it almost as much as the trip itself. Yep. You just don't mess with the overly orchestrated Itinerary. Actually, that's probably the place where...

The Day the Mickey Died II - Saving Mr. Panic Attack *update 10/2*

I haven't even taken my 7yo yet and people think I'm obsessed. That is a really lovely picture. I love a family who isn't ashamed to show the world their jorts, fanny packs, plaid pants, and Christmas sweaters. I hope you don't live in a high-rise! That could get messy. Why? You and me...

The Day the Mickey Died II - Saving Mr. Panic Attack *update 10/2*

Perfectly understandable. Life is a musical. While some live their lives like Les Miserables, others like Annie, and still others like Cats. No argument here. (See previous comment.) College does that to a person. It's our job as parents to undo all of that. I don't know the backstory...

The Day the Mickey Died II - Saving Mr. Panic Attack *update 10/2*

Yep, I got the bug too. Is there anything worse than a loss of appetite? I'll submit there is not. Okay, I'll stop. I'm assuming there's a hidden fanny pack in there somewhere. I'm trying very hard not to judge you people. That was the best scene! I love that part. Kind of goes...

The Day the Mickey Died II - Saving Mr. Panic Attack *update 10/2*

And she's my new best friend. Thanks Tinkershell! My husband can relate. Is anything better than a Peter Panic Attack TR? I submit there is not. I'm happy to see you have a TOC now. Yay. Alright...on to the next installment...

The Day the Mickey Died II - Saving Mr. Panic Attack *update 10/2*

Yeah, yeah. I've been AWOL. But I'm here now, and that's all that really matters. BTW, my trip is August 18-30. So I haven't left yet! Okay, now on to this bad boy...

Who does the wake up call?

Bumping this. Am wondering if Olaf is still doing the wakeup call? We arrive in two weeks and my son would LOVE this.

What is your not so normal item to pack, which is helpful while at WDW ?

I normally do not give my son anything personalized for the reason you mention. However, I will make an exception in WDW. I feel comfortable to do so at his age in that environment. (He's seven.)

What else to say to the characters???

I once told Pooh that he should back off on the honey, that he had a little "junk in the trunk." I don't recommend that.

What is your not so normal item to pack, which is helpful while at WDW ?

Four years and 109 pages later... This thread is amazing. So many fantastic ideas! Thank you to all who have contributed. My packing list has certainly expanded. My unusual item is name badges. About 10 years ago I bought engraved Disney badges from Hollywood Studio (back then it was still...

    Matching Shirts

I see that you're no longer looking for validation, but let me provide it anyway. My husband and I are in our mid-40s, our son is 7. On vacation, while we don't "match" our outfits, per se, we do coordinate so that we are all wearing the same color shirt. I'll pack for me and my son and tell...

    Mean or not mean?

I totally agree. There is a difference between discipline (natural or logical consequences) and unrelated punishment (e.g., grounding her for not doing chores).

    Mean or not mean?

You nailed it right there. It is a natural consequence of her behavior and decisions. By not bringing it to her, you are reinforcing that she needs to take ownership of her responsibilities. She will be far more likely to remember it next time because of the drama she's causing from it. You are...
