My favorite special, non-park memories as a kid were spent doing activities..either renting a boat, horseback riding, bike riding, movies outside (although could be a bit cold in Jan?). Sometimes it's the simple things... :)

You can take a boat from the hotel to avoid the walk. My Mom got a scooter at the international gateway entrance and it was very easy..and much less crowded than the front entrance. Both France and Canada have quick breakfast/coffee options...and you get to enjoy walking through World Showcase...
