Let's hear it for blue card owners!

Great post. I did not take this as a gloat. It didn't make me look at myself and say I am glad I have almost 1,000 points. It also didn't make me happy to have DVC points with a $40 basis either. Some received free park tickets in the beginning of DVC. I wasn't one of them. The point of...

Why is there *always* availability at Boardwalk?

It's the 4th largest resort of the 10 resorts at WDW. Also, it's twice as big as the smallest four resorts at WDW (VGF, CCV, BRV and BCV).

DVC Membership used strictly as an investment

Ever heard of buying a Call or Put option? They have expiration dates too and are considered investments.

DVC Membership used strictly as an investment

Many bought DVC for $50-$75 per point during the Great Recession. Currently these people have unrealized cap appreciation of 60 - 100 percent. On top of the cap apprec, they are making $8 to $11 profit per point by renting them yearly. So if you bought 100 AK points for $5000 You can now sell...

    Eating off site....

Try Winn Dixie fried Chix or their tenders. Get some green beans and rice too. You can have a family dinner for four people under $10. My kids said if we had Winn Dixie up north, we would never need to go to KFC.

    best/favorite snack credits

Must have changed from the last time I used at SH. I used the dining plan about 18 months ago there and they accepted it as a snack credit for the Nutella waffle but not the Chicken waffle. Thanks for the update.

If you could do one thing differently when purchasing DVC what would it be?

I would have purchased BWV a lot sooner. Of the 4 resorts I owned, it is the only one I paid peak value for. It's a 70 pointer that was around $110. But, it is the perfect sized contract for us. I didn't mind paying that price because the contract sizenis very difficult to find. Other than...

Park attendance/performance down?? Iger vs. anecdotes??

Agreed. I am sure it's one of the reason revenues are higher but foot traffic is down at the parks. At some point the market will view foot traffic being down as a negative. I think that is why you are seeing lots of specials such as 13 month season passes, southwest trips where you buy 3 park...

Park attendance/performance down?? Iger vs. anecdotes??

They have. I see a lot more DVC rental requests for a shorter period of time. Personally, our family sees no reason to attend a WDW parks for more than 3 days during a trip. Peak 1 day pricing is thinning crowds but it's also forcing families to look elsewhere. Last year, Universal had...

Park attendance/performance down?? Iger vs. anecdotes??

Yeah I just use my DVC for the transportation and Disney feel. Otherwise, me and my family enjoy our Universal passes until WDW figures out how to complete construction projects.

If you've stayed at multiple resorts (transportation question)

My last trip from MK to BWV this year we had a dedicated bus to BWV. This may have changed.

Resale - did you wait for exactly what you want or settle?

First contract was BLT, $85 pp for 200. Was the perfect size for us because I need to at least get a 1 bedroom for 6 to 7 days during low season. I really wanted AKV, but BLT was too good a deal to pass up. I bought site unseen. The rooms are pretty much all the same. You are just paying for...

How do you get your groceries?

No thawing or sweating. I pack it tightly inside a collapsible cooler. At 11 hours my bacon was still frozen.

How do you get your groceries?

Prime Now from Amazon is probably the best option cost wise, though I have found they do not have a great selection on meat. For meat, I have found if I deep freeze bacon and turkey sasauge, and then pack in my portable cooler with ice packs inside a checked bag, my food will stay frozen for at...

What home resort(s) do you own and why?

BLT - got a good deal and you can walk to MK. Enough said. HHI - got another good deal. AKV - It's where I always wanted to stay. Now it is the family's favorite. No other hotel is like it in the US. It is truly unique with the animals and the second largest collection of African Art in...

Is Disney World becoming a shell of its former self?

I can buy 3 Universal annual passes for the cost of 1 Disney pass. Plus, the kids like Universal better than Disney. As a DVC member, I love staying in AKL and driving to universal. I get the best of both worlds.

What was your purchase philosophy when choosing your home resort(s)?

I bought the best deal at the time. For us it was BLT at $85 pp. But, it had to be BLT, AKV or BWV.
