Need to get caught up on DVC ownership changes, been away a while

I know it isnt the same. She goes to travel/sleepaway camp each year and has done so for many years. Matter of fact she got on the plane today for two week camp touring California. She has an interest in Hawaii which came up as a possible destination tour next year which started me down this...

Need to get caught up on DVC ownership changes, been away a while

I ran a 10-year analysis and with the large gap up in resale point costs of the Orlando-based resorts, combined with the dues catching up with HHI and VB, the math isn't as bad as it used to be. Quite the opposite actually. I based this on a 200 pt purchase and estimates of resale point costs...

Really? Why did that change happen?

Need to get caught up on DVC ownership changes, been away a while

Thanks. Personally I wouldn't mind doing Hilton Head for some golfing. When we owned Saratoga we were always able to find another resort to stay at if we felt like swapping out. That hasn't changed has it? You can still swap between resorts as long as availability exists, correct?

Need to get caught up on DVC ownership changes, been away a while

Long story short, we owned at Saratoga resale for years. Lived in Fl and used DVC for long weekends. Moved to NY and decided to sell DVC as we made almost 75% profit compared to our original purchase price. Fast forward to today. My daughter teen does travel/sleepaway camps each summer. She...

Just got back. Trip was great. Decided to sell.

Just finished our trip. Did arrival night in a lake view Poly studio then moved over to our Boardwalk view 1br at Boardwalk for the week. Four in our party (wife, daughter, her friend and myself). Overall had a great time. First stay at Poly and liked the resort for the one evening we were...

    Saving Money on Food

Someone mentioned Starbucks gift cards and I realized I totally spaced on there being Starbucks in parks now. BJs/Costco/Sams etc do their regular gift card sales. I just picked up some Starbuck's cards for like 20% off. I hadn't thought about using them in WDW. Speaking of gift cards to save...

At DHS EMH [Sunday 8/4] & won’t get a single ride in...

We are going down Aug 17th and leaving a few days before SWGE opens. At first we were disappointed and the more I read the more I am actually ok with missing the madness that will be HS with an open Star Wars Land. Hopefully things lighten up a bit with all the southern schools being back in...

At DHS EMH [Sunday 8/4] & won’t get a single ride in...

Its like anything in life really. Many moons ago, EMH was amazing. Almost like having a park to yourselves. Today... not so much. Sort of like fast passes actually. They used to be walk up and get the ride. I think the trick is to adapt to the changes. We usually sleep in on our visits and stay...

    Saving Money on Food

We are heading down in two weeks and the inflation at the restaurants over the past few years has been astounding. While i understand the time vs money quandry of eating off site, I gotta say Disney prices are pushing us this trip to eat off-site for the majority of our stay at dinner. You dont...

NYC Questions - Empire State Building and Central Park (plus Statue of Liberty)

The City is such a wealth of things to do that aside from all the great things listed in this thread, there are still hundreds more not listed. It really is choose your favorite flavor. Someone mentioned the Cloisters. Phenomenal place to visit. The museum scene, even for those who "arent into...

    USAA premiums

I totally get what you are saying. Whenever customer service is involved (with any company) its always a "your mileage may vary" sort of thing. My only advice is to contact someone in customer service (not a rep) and express your displeasure. My only ever issue with them was when i was...

I just want a good steak. A lot of places serve steak as an afterthought.

I will join the chorus and say Turf Club. The atmosphere sitting and dining on the veranda at dinner was also a great plus. On an aside - For all those saying Shula's, I would also consider Bull and Bear at the Waldorf (sort of/kind of on Disney property also). I enjoy Shula's but in my...

    USAA premiums

We have been with USAA for a long time (decades). In the times we have needed something (accident, claim, insurance swap etc) I have never experienced what I would consider bad customer service. Your mileage may vary. I moved all my banking over to them 5 or 6 years ago. I guess the thing I...

7 month availability getting more difficult

At the end of the day it comes down to flexibility. If someone has a specific vacation window that have to hit (obviously the combo of kids out of school/work vacation availability etc) then buying where you want to be is a must. If, on the other hand you flexibility in both time and...
