To rent or not to rent a car...

On our last trip, I actually did both. I wanted to give it a try since I had never rented a car there before. During our 10 day stay on Dis property, we had planned a couple of days (2-3) for Universal & Sea World. So we used Dis transportation and airport shuttle like we always had, but then...

Pop century ?'s...................please answer if you've stayed there before! thanks

Looks like your questions have been well answered. I'll just cast another vote for POP. We stayed there a few years ago and enjoyed it, would certainly stay again. Food court had lots of seating and we liked the food choices. We also liked being able to "shop" for foods without having to get...

    Late Check-In

The last time we went to WDW, our flight from Calif got in around 10:30 pm. We actually stayed that nite at the hotel in the airport - Hyatt Regency Orlando. So close, all you have to do is claim your luggage and head for the elevator/escalator. They have 24 hr room service too. The next...

    Is DTD like WDW?

Yep, they do not require park admission. Downtown Disney is actually closer to the parks than @ WDW. It borders and/or is in between them, walking distance. I believe there is also a parking lot for those businesses.

Does DL still sell Pirate bandana hats for kids with Mickey or Goofy ears?

We just got back and I saw a cute hat I think may be what you're talking about. It's like the traditional black ears but the cap part is covered with bandana and one ear has an earring in it. There came in pink bandanas or red ones.

Just back 5 days @ DLH - any questions?

We were there Oct 28th thru Nov 1st. It's amazing how fast the Halloween decorations came down during the nite of the 31st. The CALIFORNIA letters in front of CA became candy cane striped which is cute. I had noticed even when we arrived that there were subtle Xmas decorations here and there...

Just back 5 days @ DLH - any questions?

We just returned from 5 days @ DLH. We went to both parks of course, enjoyed Fantasmic balconey and lots of shopping @ Downtown Disney!

    Fantasmic questions...

Thanks for the responses! We've seen Fantasmic many times at both WDW and DL. But since this will be an extra special celebration trip to DL, I thought this would be a nice surprise! It's seems kind of fun to be up on the balconey for the show!

Leaving in 3 1/2 weeks - need help for DH

got2travel hit the nail on the head - ESPN zone. Let him hang out there a few hours every day and he will be much happier to participate the rest of the time. Recliners, remotes, lots o sports to choose from and snacks! I'm not much of a sports fan and even I love the place. You and the kids...

    Fantasmic questions...

Which is better - call for Fantasmic tickets yourself or request guest services (vacation planning) to do it? I've heard that calling each morning can be a challenge. Any difference in results? Also, silly question but where do they actually put the buffet for the balconey viewing? Is it...

    Digital Camera Recommendation

We actually have a Canon Elph SD300 which came out last winter. Since then the SD400 & SD500 have been released. We love the SD300. It's very small and lives in a purse fulltime. As far as humidity goes, our camera lives at the beach and has had no problems due to humidity. We recently purchased...

Just back from the WONDER...A few of my thoughts

I have found that it's best to take something for seasickness every day. For me early in the day was good. That way you don't have to worry about which deck you're on or how rough the sea is. I found that I also quit thinking about it too much if I had already taken something. Dramamine was...

    best digital camera

A very small, very easy to use and very wonderful digital camera is the Canon Elph SD300. I think there is now a 400 & 500 model, but the 300 is very small. I bought it for my DD for 21st birthday and she actually keeps it in her purse. We did a lot on research online and are very happy with...

OMG, Did I book _THAT_ much TS?

I generally make ressies for at least 1 if not 2 each day, but I do try to space them out fairly well. If one is breakfast, I make the other a late lunch or dinner. If dinner is early, that may be the only one that day. It's a lot better than standing around trying to figure out where or what to...

This First Timer To WDW Just Finalized Her ADR's!

First of all since you found disboards, you are definitely not clueless! Second, relax! After several trips to WDW I think that planning is a lot of the fun for me, but it's easy to obsess over it! I think your plans sound just fine, have a great time!

    Do you "do" breakfast?????

We do what feels right for us that day. It usually means 1 or 2 character breakfasts and 1 or 2 regular table service or buffets. The other days someone will usually go find bagels, juice, fruit etc and bring it back to the room so we can munch and relax while getting ready for the day...

    Disneyland at Christmastime?

Okay, we've been to DL several years in a row this same week for my kids birthday. The crowds were not bad at all, but if you're there on the 25th or 26th you'll be shocked at all the people. We usually go around the 19th and leave early in the morning on the 26th. It's so fun and the...

    Which restaurants are a MUST

Our must is the Blue Bayou. On our last trip we went once for lunch and another time for dinner. It's a unique experience for WDW folks since there is no BB at WDW. We really enjoyed ESPN at DTD too, the food was actually very good. HOB was pretty good, try the sweet potato fries. I also agree...

    Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier?

We've stayed at both and like them both. However, I think we prefer Disneyland Hotel. Last month we stayed 4 nites there and then 2 nites at GC. I think we actually prefer DH. This time we requested DTD view and it was great. Pretty sure the only building for DTD view is Sierra. In the past, we...
