Who is watching Sharknado 3 on Syfy now?

I watched it last night. Lots of scenes at Universal, and a huge commercial for Cabana Bay - "Let's take the free bus back to the Cabana Bay Beach Resort", said Bo Derek. Of course, I wonder if anyone is going in the pool today. The scene on RRR was great, and totally in keeping with the...

MCO to Portofino - best option?

Lots of van taxis at MCO too. Just go to the cab stand outside baggage pickup and tell the guy where you're going - no need to flag down a cab yourself. Runs about $50.

Photo Connect Price Going Up - How early to purchase

The 3 days refers to the number of days you can use the card in the parks. I've never found how long they claim pictures will be kept, but as a point of reference, the pictures from our October 2011 trip and April 2013 trip are still available for download on the website. And as Gina said...

    San Andreas and Mutha Nature

Does anyone here NOT think about "Mutha Nature" from Disaster when they see a commercial for "San Andreas"? "It's OK! I'm a Park Ranger!"

    photo connect star card

The Shutterbutton video on site is $70, so preordering at the additional $40 is a significant savings. We did it with our 3 daughters, and it came out really nice. As the Dad, I got to play the Sirius Black on the wanted poster, which was hilarious. Make sure to ask for robes though - we...

    Why no Harry Potter characters?

Here's the article I remember: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/05/16/daniel-radcliffe-says-no-more-harry-potter-he-s-not-engaged-either.html Daniel Radcliffe said that he wasn't asked to film any new scenes for Gringotts, so he assumed it was unused footage from the movie, and also...

    Why no Harry Potter characters?

I thought the voices on Gringotts were all the original actors, but Harry, Hermione, Ron & Voldy were from scenes cut from the 2nd Deathly Hallows movie. That's why they don't address us, the muggles touring the bank, directly. As opposed to Bellatrix and Bill Weasley, who did film scenes...

    Stuff on Rides/no lockers!

Wristwatches are OK on the big 3 too. IMHO, the whole reason for the new coaster crackdown is cell phones & GoPros. People have been getting on the ride, then pulling out their phone or camera and filming the ride. Which is extremely dangerous for the rest of the riders and everyone on the...

express pass cost? is it a good choice?

The HP rides that are excluded are Forbidden Journey, Escape From Gringotts, and Hogwarts Express. The other two HP rides, Flight of the Hippogriff (small coaster) and Dragon Challenge (big, awesome coaster) are included in Express Pass.

    Stuff on Rides/no lockers!

Just to clarify, there are now two "levels" of ride restrictions. The 3 big coasters - Rip Ride Rockit, Hulk, and Dragon Challenge - don't allow anything in your pockets, including cell phones and wallets. They enforce this with visual checks and metal detectors. The other restricted rides -...

    Stuff on Rides/no lockers!

We had no problems using our lanyards through all 3 metal detectors a month ago. After all - you've got to keep your express pass somewhere - they scan it after the metal detectors. And the "empty pockets" really only applies to electronics & coins & the like. They don't pat you down, so if...

Looking for a little adult time

We had no problem leaving our 12 & 14 year olds at the HRH pool last month. They're both good swimmers, and not usually idiots. Only rule was they couldn't leave the pool area until they both came back up to the room together. No issues.

express pass cost? is it a good choice?

Also, you can go to the park and purchase the Express Pass after you've entered, if you feel it would be necessary. There are tons of stores that sell it - I think it's impossible to be out of sight of a "Buy Express Pass Here!" sign. The price will depend on the crowd levels of that day.

What's the next big thing at Universal?

Remember that any sort of HP expansion, even a hotel, would require the approval of J.K. Rowling, who is very, very, protective of her creations. And she certainly doesn't need the money either.

    AAA inside park discount changed

It sound like the change has been put in place, and the people who most need to know about it - the people running the registers who actually give the discounts - know about it. But the information is still trickling it's way back to everyone else at Universal and AAA. But my experience a few...

Tidbits for saving money on your trip to Universal

That's not what I, and others, have been experiencing in the parks recently. I tried to use my AAA card for a discount for both food & merchandise several times, and each time was told the new policy was you need to have purchased your park tix through AAA to get a discount. A few times they...

    Bag rules and express passes

You can use your own lanyard. Only the 3 big coasters are super strict - if the other rides were OK with your bag before, they should still be OK with it now.

fanny pack with three prong closure - current status?

FWIW, I did keep some cash and a credit card in a zipped cargo shorts pocket, and they didn't notice it. And it certainly wasn't going anywhere. And they didn't care about my watch either.

    Best timeframe to book JetBlue

I've done flights out of Logan on Jet Blue during the New England school spring break in 2013 and 2015. I check Providence & Manchester NH prices as well. My experience has been the prices for that time period fluctuate a bit for the first few weeks, then go nowhere but up. They never, ever...
